Extra space storage is the greatest company to invest and entrust your belongings to. Not only are there so many options to choose from, but the staff are amazing. You don't find that everywhere but I did and couldn't be happier with the results.
Extra space storage will lie to you, provide you with bad service, and at times, you won't even have access to your storage garage because they are so poorly managed. Do not let the new green and grey paint fool you, this is a bad dishonest company. In the time that I have stored my belongings in one of their garages, there has been a block wall that was destroyed allowing anyone access to all the storage garages. This took 6 months to fix. The gate is always broken, the place is dirty, unkempt, and disgusting. They won't answer the phone, or emails. I am surprised they are still in business. Also in the time I have been there, a fire destroyed almost half of the storage garages. If you value your belongings, do not even consider renting here. Oh, and their representatives are condescending $#*! holes who will treat you with contempt when you try to resolve a problem in good faith. Seriously, extra space storage and crew are a bunch of first class $#*! holes.
Was told my monthly payment would be $40 for a 4×4 unit. After 11 months $ 85. Plus insurance $105
I forgot to pay for one month with $280 fees
And they sent it to a auction.
Existing Customers - Beware of large rate increases! Extra Space storage doesn't care about their existing / long term customers and they have no rhyme or reason to the frequency (or percentage) of rate increases for existing customers; Their business is strictly supply and demand and they are more than happy with allowing existing customers leave if they don't want to pay the rate increase so they can draw in the next unsuspecting victim. They aren't really willing to work with you that much either. Site Managers say they have to check with Corporate... Corporate says it is up to the Site Manager. I have multiple units and all of them have been slated for a LARGE increase (68% after 4 months, 52% after 24 months, 32% after 9 months). I'm okay with reasonable annual increases, but this is crazy. Even if there is another Extra Space Storage location that offers a lower price; they'd rather make you move your stuff than to give you the lower rate.
You can't sign contract for long term even if you wanted to. This allows them to force the increase on their existing customers. However, if market demand was low, you won't see them contacting you to LOWER your rate!
Would give his place -0 stars if I could! I am so disappointed in Extra Space Storage on 8837 Tara Blvd. They know they have a rodent infestation, but will not warn folks before moving in. Rat droppings are all over my things. Avoid this place at all costs. You've been warned!
This company is trash! I been renting there for a year and they have played me so much. They raised my rent and didn't even tell and when I call they go oh, we can give you a discount. I was paying 132 when it started and then they changed it to 150 and told me after the fact and then they change my rental fee to 230! How in the hell do you jump that far and STILL NOT TELL ANYONE! I AM PISSED AND ALL THE LADY COULD SAY TO ME WAS OH WELL IM SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY. Well you should be sorry because times are hard and you think it's cool to mess up peoples money and not even tell them. I don't hate people or companies but I definitely hate them now I have to find something place to go and pay ANOTHER MOVING company because y'all wanna play people.
Clean, staff was nice and access to your personal needs when needed. PROBLEM: Extra Space gives you a low rate (comparable with other retailers) then starts jacking up your monthly price after 3 months, then followed by another on your 1st year anniversary. My rate went up 60% in one year. They get you comfortable but soon start the greedy landlord practice. I hope this helps to determine whether or not you do business with Extra Space and gives you insight beforehand!
Wish I could give them no stars. No customer service. Rude employees. Very high prices. If there is a "mom and pop " local place in your area, rent there. These people are nasty crooks. They are just awful.
Thieves! DO NOT RENT HERE! Brought me in with an internet rate, then just like that I get a letter in the mail that they are going to double my price. Yes double. Very unethical and an all around garbage move. Pure filth!
Climate controlled units are a myth with this company. Our furniture and rugs stored with this company in a climate controlled unit are covered in mildew. Received zero customer service. If you value your belongings do not store them with this company.
They will give you a reasonable rate to get you moved in, and then it is a classic bait and switch. After that you can expect rate increases every few months, until you are desperate to get rid of them. It is not unusual for them to double their rent, and when you call, they blame it on a "corporate computer."
On 7/24/21 the facility wasn't available to the patrons at the Sussex Ave. Newark NJ location until 10:00 AM. The Saturday hours are 8 A. M - 7 P.M. I arrived at 9:30 A.M. ( in a uhaul by the hour rental) to find a line of cars waiting outside the facility gates. I decided to call their customer service line and was advised the facility should be open. The website display a gate access code. The code isn't applicable to the Newark NJ Sussex Ave location. The phone agent was only able to reach the asst manager. This person was said to arrive within. 30 min. The agent said she provided my name and contact to Area Mgmt. A call back is to be seen. I am taking into consideration this ordeal occurred on a Saturday. While on phone w agent a staff member showed up however he didn't have access to office or main access doors leading to storage units. Luckily the staff person tried all doors and found one unsecured allowing patrons to units. Never saw asst mgr. This experience is unacceptable. I will definitely seek another storage facility and will end my new relationship with Extra Storage ASAP. Can you imagine a new prospect showing up and seeing this circus? This is a poor reflection on the Newark facility's manager and staff. Smh.

Extra space storage all of the sudden raised my monthly payment after I've been paying automatically 4 months deducted from my account,
40% more money. There's no way in hell that anyone can raise 40% on a contract. It is just immoral an ethical and it's illegal
Recently have 2 units & cleaning out 1 & its an easy process returning & actually gettin units here! Have never had such aweso. E customer service!:)A+++++ i firget her name at the front desk shes been here 15yrs i think? Shes the most AMAZING PERSON IVE EVER MET! :) MAKES ME FEEL WELCOMED & HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS! NOTHING LUKE MY LAST experience with a diff. Storage company! They r rude! Im recommended this to everyone! Great job it makes the whole thingbeyter!
I most certainly would not recommend this storage facility in Lindenwold, on Laurel Rd. Between Alana, and Cat G-R-A-H-A-M (is how she spoke it too me) you will have problems. The problem I have with people like this or "friends" in the workplace, is that when they tell their story THEY are always the victim or have a pity mentality. Rather than owning what YOU ACTUALLY did that was wrong, fixing it as reasonable and responsible as possible. This Cat G-R-A-H-A-M was attempting to call me to explain and rationalize her employees behavior as well as tell me that I will only be compensated for the "day" because SHE feels it was not that big of a deal. I have a business and these women caused me to almost lose a vendor file because I could not access the space I pay for. They do not care about their customers particularly if you are black because the first girl asked me so many questions as if I was lying about the information I was offering INCLUDING DOCUMENTS! No thank you to this storage facility if you ask me. I would give them - stars.
Called this firm ("New Customer" phone number) to inquire about prices, etc. THEY APPROPRIATED MY PHONE NUMBER ("Caller ID" on their side) WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, and then proceeded to call me EVERY DAY since my (one) call, to "drum up business". I just called both the "new cust" number, and, the local location, in order to demand that my number be stricken from their IMPERMISSIBLE, and annoying, calls "for my business". --- With this "kind" of service, I don't need theirs; if I require storage space, I'll go elsewhere.
Do NOT rent here, the place is not secure even though they tell you the gate is secure and the cameras are working! All lies! Our boat was stolen after someone broke the gate. It was never reported to the police. We went to get out boat and it was gone, after calling the police the manager said that the gate was broke weeks earlier but he never called the police and never checked the cameras! When asked to review the camera footage he told the police the cameras were not working! When the cameras were fixed you can see two men breaking the gate and stealing our boat, however the cameras are so old and blurry you cannot see the license plate or the description of the robbers. How can a storage facility claim to be secure when the cameras don't work or are blurry and the gate was easily opened! Extra space Storage takes no responsibility for any of this, no responsibility for not reporting to the police, no responsibility for cameras not working, no responsibility for the gate being broken! After months of no response we got a call from their insurance company who said they take no responsibility for the theft and hung up on me! Whoever owns this business needs to shut this place down! Please save your stuff and don't rent from this awful business!
Was told my monthly payment would be $29 for a 4×4 unit. I moved in confidence I could afford the payment. They auctioned all of my belongings today without warning. Including my five year olds birth certificate. Thanks.
I use to rent a storage facility in modesto, ca, crows landing road.the company trick you with lowest rent at first and once a person is in there, they keep on jacking the rent started at 15 dollars but pretty soon I was paying 60 a month and some time they increased my rent twice a year too and if you leave the storage early and you already paid for whole month then you will not get any refund. It's bunch of crooks running this company and ripping people in need. Extra space storage is not good place to be in its better to find some other place where they are fare and honest.
We were excellent customers of Extra Space Storage at 2150 East 3300 South, Millcreek, Utah for over four years. Our starting rate was $286.50/month. When we left it was $411.00/month, with another rate increase just around the corner! We asked them for a half month's refund for a problem THEY caused, and they said no way unless we signed a Settlement & Release Agreement promising that we would not post bad reviews about them! We would not sign! DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible treatment, no customer loyalty, and all they care about is your money!
