Once Fitbit was taken over by Google, the customer service has become appalling. You will be held online for hours by support personnel outsourced to non-English speaking countries, with ridiculous requests like asking you to take videos of what the watch is doing (when the display will not light at all). After this, you are required to mail the unit back to them, and so far, 4 weeks later, I have gotten no replacement on a watch that was 3 months old.
Fitbit
And overly priced gimic that the only thing it can tell you accurately is the Time.
I'm on my third unit now and originally bought for the purpose of monitoring my sleep and heart rate. First thing is that any doctor will tell you that these things can in know way monitor your sleep, it takes a machine that cost many thousands of $$ to do that task, and that has been confirmed with 3 units. The second reason I got it was to monitor my heart rate. It may do that fairly accurately while I am sleeping. But during exercise, it is out to lunch. It tells me sometimes my heart rate is over 170 on a mild workout, and my heart does not go that fast. It tells me my HR is 66 when I'm going full on. And to often it just doesn't register anything. There is absolutely no correlation or comparison to a heart monitor that actually works. See the attached pictures. The green line added represents the pattern of the elliptical machine and the HR should correlate to that. As for counting steps, well what use is that - you eat a bowl of soup and every lift of the spoon is a step, you scratch your nose, step, your typing on keyboard, steps, walking around the kitchen cooking for the family, steps. Every arm movement is a step so at the end of the day you've done ******* steps, so you think. Gimic, who cares. Oh, one other thing it can actually, when linked with your phone GPS, track distance. But then my phone can do that without a wrist band. A few other functions, it can set an alarm to wake you up. But as for the rest of the functions, pretty much a waste. You've already got the phone that can do them much better. The big disappointment is that it was a waste of money for one of the primary functions it was suppose to be good at. Of coarse there's the socail media aspect of them, you get to compete with your buddies who have the same, and still this thing couldn't tell you actually how many calories you burnt in a day because guess work is not accurate. Your better off to buy 10 timex watches for the price and you don't have to charge them up every couple of days. 3 fitbits later, never again with that junk.
Ever since google took over Fitbit, the software development continues to fail. My device is now unusable. Here is what my screen looks like on the iPad mini. You basically can't see your data. Charge 4 purchased with Airmiles June 2020
The updated version is awful. Looks like a cartoon and the data is no longer easy to view. I have contacted them and was told the older version is unable to be accessed. I strongly urge others to purchase a different brand if you are looking for a fitness tracker unless they find a way to return to a better version of the app!
The new Fitbit App is horrible. I hate that it doesn't tell you the percentage of battery charge when syncing, the watch face on my Luxe is so small I have to get my magnifying glass out to see what percentage I have left. The new app is ugly on my phone, the characters are huge and the sleep portion doesn't seem to be working right nor does the caloric intake. The whole package is terrible and I am going to look into an Apple Watch. Many of my friends have the Apple and they love it. It's a bit more pricey, but I'm willing to spend the extra dollars to get a great app. Thanks, Google. Fire the team that came up with this monstrosity.
Completely unnecessary change to app. Hate everything about it. Ugly colors. Steps calculate every time I open it. Why? Makes me not even open the app. I loved my Fitbit until this change. Bring back the old app please.
Purchased my Fitbit watch for a secondary reason to use it for Fitbit pay. Fitbit websites specifically indicates that American Express is supported but their app will not allow one to upload the American Express card. Numerous attempts to rectify this problem have gone unanswered by an atrocious customer service department. Since Fitbit is now owned by Google, one would think that a fixed to this problem should be readily available since Google pay excepts American Express, why can't they are smartwatch brand also accept it. More importantly, why can't they are customer service react and respond to problems with their app. Extremely frustrating and definitely a reason not to purchase their products.
I used to be a very Happy fitbit customer, but a recent update to the Fitbit App dashboard has changed that. The updated app had dull colors, and most of the useful information Fitbit users were used to has disappeared. Percentage of battery life that was previously available on the dashboard, gone. Details of sleep, gone, challenges, gone. Unless Google makes this right for the Fitbit users, I will be looking for a different tracker
Since Google took over, this app 100%sucks. Nothing works right,it's slow as molasses. I can't find anything without clicking several times or refreshing. I hate this change! I Will not be renewing my premium membership.
Versa 3 stopped working properly at about 40 days ---A few days past the 30 day return window. Because product purchased thru an amazon reseller the one year warranty offered by fitbit was not honored by fitbit.
The consumer should be aware that manufacturer warranties may not be honored if bought thru amazon.
I have been a Fitbit customer for years, I had a couple fitbits that died on me but didn't have any of the purchase information so I just went and bought a new one. Finally I decided to purchase directly from Fitbit - first device died, contacted Fitbit and they replaced it then not even 6months later the second one died and they refuse to replace it stating that a replacement product isn't covered by warranty and that they will offer me a 35% discount. Why would I want to purchase another item from them when they won't even back their own product? I have spent thousands of dollars on Fitbit products over the years and this is the customer appreciation that I receive. I am disappointed cause I loved my Fitbit but if the don't even have faith in their products and stand behind them then I guess I will switch to apple.
If I can give no stars I would!
Had Fitbit Charge 5 from Costco for 11 month and the device broke. They sent me replacement and that one broke after 3 weeks.
The only options you get is a replacement (currently on back order, need to wait 2 months) or purchase another model at reduced price.
HORRIBLE COMPANY, HORRIBLE DEVICE!
Do not buy!
Worse Customer service - bought a Fitbit and it dies within 3 days - called customer service and I need to return it and they will send a replacement - will be without a Fitbit for 2-4 weeks - MOVING TO APPLE...Don't buy from them, this is how they treat a 7 year customer
I have had problems with me Charge 5 for over 3 months now, I contact FitBit customer service back when it started, they have been messing with me the whole time and now they are having me do the exact steps they had me do in the beginning. They have no intention of helping me or standing behind their products. They will just have you jump thru hoops until you give up, like I did. Worthless!
I've never had issues with my Fitbit until I switched over to Google 3 weeks ago. It stopped tracking sleep & daily steps for a week. It then seemed to be back on track. Now it totally quit. I have no connection, no clock absolutely nothing. Google is a piece of crap. Fitbit sold out to a foreign company like so many others. They were out for money and not for actual health and well being of people. I am so disappointed in a company that I thought was reliable which
sold out to a foreign based company. Again it's greed at it's finest.
Beware FitBit hand in hand with scam companies like Calm.com
Got charged $542 CAD for clicking on Calm.com free trial app which shows on fitbit phone app as advertisement.
Stay away!
My fit bit does not always pair with my phone or I-pad, sometimes it does, sometime if does not and it is really hit and miss, this make seeing my progress difficult and I will not be buying this again, when I need a new watch, because it happens way too much. Would not recommend.
I have now been the not-very-happy owner of 2 fitbit devices. They both SUCKED! Why did I buy the 2nd one, you ask? I have no freaking idea. The 2nd one was their supposed top-of-the-line product, the Sense. Check out the pricing on that POS! It lasted less than 2 years! They would not honor my request for a repair or replacement & only offered me a 35% discount on my next new purchase. NO THANKS! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! There are a LOT of options for fitness watches out there. I purchased on one Amazon for a fraction of the price, it actually regulates more than the Sense did & it was a FRACTION of the cost & has a 3 year warranty. I HATE FITBIT!
Like design and long battery life. Has had 3 Fitbit Charge 5 since March 2022. All died within 6 months. Went thru all steps with customer service to no avail. Better to just buy a more expensive watch-fitness tracker of better quality.
