The company has garnered mixed feedback regarding its reputation and customer service. While some customers appreciate the quality and freshness of the products, particularly for special occasions, a significant number express frustration over delivery delays, inadequate customer support, and issues with order fulfillment. Complaints frequently highlight poor communication, lack of responsiveness, and unsatisfactory resolutions to problems, leading to a sense of distrust among customers. Overall, while the product offerings are well-received, the company's service shortcomings may deter potential customers seeking reliable and timely delivery.

Buyer beware
Buyer beware! I am a Chicago transplant to California. Most Chicagoans are aware of Pequods pizza. Goldbelly is the company that advertises Pequods pizza. I have had 2 bad experiences with Goldbelly. Goldbelly. On February 9, I purchase a 2-pak pizza. It arrived on April 7. It was spoiled. I called Goldbelly customer service. I got nothing but the run around. First they said that would get a complete refund. By the end of the conversation they said I could have a $59 credit that I must use within 60 days. I called Goldbelly customer service and talked about my experience. I was assured that if I ordered again and the pizza arrived spoiled again, I would get a complete refund. They went on to say that the call is recorded and that they will stand behind the product. So I decided to try them again. Goldbelly is the one company that delivers Pequods pizza out of the state of Illinois. My second purchase showed up yesterday SPOILED again. When I called to discuss the customer service department informed me that I will not get a refund but they will provide a $15 credit to be used in 60 days. Stay away complete scam food poisoning along with their inability to stand behind their product is the reason they get Buyer beware.
I am absolutely livid! My order was supposed to arrive on Thursday May 13th 2021 and it arrived today Sunday May 16th 2021, (3 days late) with the boxes soaking wet, no dry ice in the packages, the bags were empty. Needless to say, the pepperoni pizzas were inedible!
Its obvious that the packaging can not keep the food cold and more importantly safe when it will be delivered 3 days later than expected.
There was even condensation inside the pizza packets. We had to throw the pizzas away as they would not be safe to eat.
This is unacceptable. Why even bother delivering the meat / perishable items to us when the food is dangerous to consume? This seems like a major health and safety violation.
This is the second time food has arrived wet and soggy and its not ok to treat us, your customers this way! How is it ok for you to think this is ok? When you sent a message saying the pizzas were going to be delivered days later you should have sent out a new delivery to us that day as you must have known the products would be in edible and dangerous when they would eventually arrive to us.
My family and I were really looking forward to these pizzas and to get them in this state is terrible. Thank god, I have the common sense to know that I should not bake these items and serve them to my family. When you sent out the delayed email to us, you should have sent a warning that the items should not be consumed as they now violate health and safety regulations.
This is the second time that I have experienced soggy inedible experience with Goldbelly and its out of order.
We're so sorry to see your order (11046832) was hit with a delay. Delays are out of our control, and it's our first instinct to turn your negative experience into a good one when presented with these situations!
I see you were able to get in touch with one of our team members and a solution was met for you. We appreciate you reaching out to us and we're happy to assist.
I ordered a birthday cake for my son and paid $40 for expedited shipping. The date I ordered it for came and went: no cake. I received a text from FEDEX indicating that the estimated delivery was over three days after the day I had paid for it to arrive on. I ordered another cake and emailed Goldbelly to cancel and have cake rerouted to them if it was in transit.
I was told how great it was that it was only going to be one day late now rather than three; they completely ignored my comments and concerns. Cake arrived and came with "Happy birthday Jenn" instead of my son's name. Are you kidding me? Just because I ordered it doesn't mean I want my name on it. I shared that issue with Goldbelly too. They gave me a $15 credit but ensured I would never use it.
Customer service agents are either dumb or are told to intentionally ignore concerns and gas light customers.
I went back through the order process and when selecting delivery date, there's nothing about the date being "estimated."
Thanks so much for your order under #7979977, and we appreciate you getting in touch to share some feedback. I’m very sorry that you were dissatisfied with your interaction with us - this certainly isn’t how we want our customers to feel.
A manager was in contact with you, offering you a resolution for this issue. Our offer still stands, if you'd like to continue with us assisting, please reach back out to the agent you were working with!
Last week I ordered a cake from Goldbelly, the site said it was famous even various presidents loved this cake. It was raspberry, fondant and buttercream what I got for $70.00 was a small sickly sweet cake that had no fondant, no buttercream, no raspberry? Customer service told me to bad there is nothing we will do- what! I also ordered cioppino soup they sent me a double order that I didn't order and again customer service said sorry I don't believe you. What kind of company is this? Don't use this Goldbelly app you'll be sorry if you do.
Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your cake under order 11000651! While we wish we could guarantee that every customer loves this cake just as much as we do, everyone's palate does vary a little! We hope you can find another great item with us in the future.
I ordered a $74 double chocolate cheesecake with Ghiradelli Chocolate from Eli's Cheesecake Company for a special Mother's Day celebration for my Wife. It was delayed a day, but arrived the Saturday before on May 9. I was saddened when I opened it and saw that it was completely not what I ordered. It was a candy cookie cheesecake sampler with peanut butter, caramel and other ingredients we don't eat. Contacting Goldbelly, the rep was very dismissive, first saying the confirmation email showed the cookie sampler. I advised that I already emailed my original receipt which showed the correct order. She admitted I was correct (Goldbelly changed my order without my authorization!). She said I was sent an email at 10:33am the day before that I had to respond by 12p (<1.5 hrs) or the substitute would be sent. I don't know about all of you, but I'm not sitting at my laptop waiting to respond to Goldbelly in the middle of a workday within an hour. I didn't authorize use of my credit card for any other product than what I ordered. I also lost our Mother's day dessert now. In explaining this to the rep she kept interrupting me and saying it was the restaurant's decision and there's nothing else she could do but she'd refund me. Great, but you authorized my card for a product I didn't order and you robbed us of our Mother's Day dessert celebration. The 'substitution e-mail' also came from Goldbelly, not the restaurant. Goldbelly is supposed to the liaison to protect our transaction here, not the conduit for unauthorized activity. She literally said she didn't have time for me and had to go 'handle' other customers. She wouldn't give her name. This is not a company that cares. FYI, we ordered almost $1000 of products from Goldbelly in the few months prior.
We'd love to look into this further for you. We tried to find your order, but we aren't able to pull it up due to some missing information. Please reply here with your order number and information, we'd love to further assist!
I'd read the positive reviews about Goldbelly so I sent a $58 babka from Oneg Bakery as a gift to my mom, which she threw out because the bottom and top were "rock hard". It arrived stale, badly wrapped in paper, slung in a shipping box without the card I filled out. Goldbelly doesn't oversee the shipping or even impose standards. If a business is set up to ship like Zabar's, they ship well. If it's not set up to ship and have to use Goldbelly, they'll probably sling it in a box with no care. I think this service is for people who moved cross country and want a pastrami sandwich sent from their favorite deli for 10 times the price. Clearly, there's a market for this but do your friend a favor and don't send them an expensive mess in the mail for their birthday. They offered me $15 off of my next purchase. Oh, boy!
Thanks so much for your feedback on your order under #11051482. I'm sorry the babka was not satisfactory! While we wish we could guarantee that every customer loves these babas just as much as we do, everyone's palate does vary a little! We hope you can find another item with us in the future to enjoy.
Ordered $80 cake for Mother's Day in plenty of time. Was supposed to be shipped on 5/3 and delivered on 5/6. Well it's 10 pm on 5/6 and the cake is in Florida. Yesterday it was missing. I had to file a credit card dispute. Wetakethecake told me they had no idea if it was shipped.
Thanks so much for your order under #11052806, and we appreciate you getting in touch to share some feedback. I’m very sorry that you were dissatisfied with your interaction with us - this certainly isn’t how we want our customers to feel.
It looks like a team member has reached out to get you the updated status of your order, which was delivered on Friday, May 7th, in time for Mother's day.
We do say estimated delivery because once these packages are in the hands of the carrier, Goldbelly has no control when unforeseen transit/weather delays occur, or operational issues at the shop's facility.
We do hope this was enjoyed for your Mother's Day Celebration, and that you give us another try in the future.
I ordered cupcakes for a birthday for a daughter who lived in NY. And add on was a chocolate brown with pink lettering " I {cupcake} NY" I bought it too. The order switched it to LA. I did not notice they switched it and when the LA shirt was delivered they refused to send a NY shirt. Attitude was too bad sooo sad. Really disappointed
Hi there,
Thanks for your review. We're so sorry that this was not an ideal experience and it's something we never want our customers to have.
We thank you for allowing us to make this right with you directly with a resolution that you deemed fair. Take care, and stay safe.
If you get new company might order again. Lucky someone found them before the coons did. I don't know if you can help me or not Thanks for your time.
Hi Lori! So glad you received your order! It looks like your pizza arrived on time as scheduled! FedEx will leave this at the door or another designated delivery spot if there is no one home for delivery, or if they are trying to keep space with contactless delivery. We hope you enjoyed!
Okay, ok. I know you're all thinking "lucky you" as we have all experienced our share of amazingly stupid UPS and FedEx shipping delays over the past 13 months. But shipping atrocities aside...
BUYER BEWARE if you are ordering items that are not frozen or baked goods. Especially if you are buying from more local restaurants in your same state.
I placed an order on April 5 for BBQ sides which included potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and rolls - and paid shipping charge on top of the regular menu price. Specifically requested a delivery date of Friday, April 30 as my family guests are gathering for a celebration on Saturday, May 1.
And well aware this package could have been delayed but I was willing to take the risk. Also clearly understood the restaurant's instructions that items would be good if refrigerated for up to three days.
SURPRISE! I woke up this morning to UPS alerts that my package was arriving today - April 27.
A full five days before the party - and definitely outside the restaurant's recommended 3-day shelf life.
Goldbelly takes zero responsibility - and not even a polite apology. They just sent a link to their policy that absolutely no refunds and no recourse once an item has shipped.
And certain the restuarant will take no responsibility either although I did reach out directly. The restaurant also packed everything in paper containers, so already leaking despite an unexpectedly short transit time.
So I'm out the money and now must go shopping and prepare new items so that my guests are not served or poisoned by spoiled food.
Unbelievable and tired of there never being any accountability or true customer service and respect - Goldbelly has now lost another customer.
Thank you for your feedback!
It looks like you ordered with us during a high volume time. We know how important a special occasion is, therefore we took the precaution to have your order arrive earlier than requested to ensure that it arrives in time for the holiday.
It is important to us that our customers receive their orders as close to the chosen delivery date as possible. In some instances due to high package volumes, we arrange for orders to arrive earlier than requested.
We thank you for giving us a try.
I reported to Goldbelly support that the lobster that I received from Fulton Fish Market tasted like "bug spray" and their response was a "sorry" and a $15 coupon. Their minimum order is $50, so i'd have to place another order to use this coupon. Meanwhile, i had to throw away 4 lobster tails. Absolutely horrible customer service.
Hi Chung,
Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry your order was not enjoyed as much as we would have hoped. A senior team member was in touch to further assit. We have passed your feedback along!
We ordered macaroons from Lauren of Paris. We have had these in Paris and they are exquisite, what we got sent tasted like they came from Walmart discount food section. We figured it was just a mistake so we ordered pizza from Difara pizza... my wife was born and raised in NY and lived there for 40 years. When we opened the pkg with slimy basil and the pizza we both laughed. This wouldn't pass for $1 slice in NY. I figure Goldberg must be buying 5 star reviews. I am out $140 but I have learned my lesson... Never Again.
Hi Margaret,
We're so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your orders. It's so important to us that your order arrives in great shape, especially if it's meant for a special occasion. Our packaging methods vary from shop to shop and are designed around the products themselves. We don't have a shipping warehouse or distribution center, so all products from each shop are packaged true to the experience. We're sorry your orders missed the mark on the presentation here, but we do hope you give us a try again in the future.
It looks like a team member has attempted to assist you with this issue and offered you a credit or a replacement for this order. We're more than happy to help, please feel free to reach out to us at support@goldbelly.com so we can close out your issue.
We've ordered a few things (mostly baked goods) that arrived in good shape and tasted good. Unfortunately it's really hit and miss. And when it's a "miss", good luck trying to post a review. No site or product is 100% perfect all the time... but it a company is truly interested in customer service, wouldn't they allow honest reviews of the products? Mind-bogging. I've started ordering directly from the food providers and bypassing GB.
Hi Lou!
Thanks so much for your review, we appreciate you venturing out and trying new things! We understand not everything will hit the mark exactly, especially when we're dealing with perishable food, but we always do our best to get it right the first time with packaging and quality. We hope you continue to explore with us.
I ordered from Goldbelly and was pleased with what my friends received so I ordered again for another friend's 72nd birthday. The blueberry pie arrived cracked, watery, and hot. It went straight into the trash. I was offered the choice between a credit and a free pie. I chose the credit. My decision was accepted. They then, without telling me, offered my friend a pie "on us". He did not understand that meant I had to pay $65.00 for the ruined pie and would not get the credit. I tried to order again and learned I was never given the credit I was promised. They over-rode my decision without telling me. I was the customer. It should have been my decision. Instead, they chose to pit me against my friend. He had no idea I would be charged for the original disaster. I had no idea they lied about giving me a credit on my account.
Hi Catherine,
We apologize for the confusion with the resolution for your gift, and that your recipient received a damaged item. We always let the sender decide what type of resolution will be the outcome as they are the ones who paid for the order. In this case, it looks like one of our agents did not realize this was a gift when your recipient reached out. When this was realized, we did get in touch with you to further assist and let you decide what resolution would be preferred. Reshipments are always free of charge as they are typically offered when an order arrives damaged or spoiled. The reshipment has been canceled per your request and we we directly refunded your original form of payment.
Take care.
Cake didn't arrive on time and the FedEx tracking said it was going to be 4 days late. When I reached out to Goldbelly, they told me FedEx had tried to deliver it on the original date so the best they could do is resend it for 50% off. Why would I pay again for a cake I never received that I no longer even need? They obviously didn't even bother to check because the date they told me FedEx tried to deliver it, it wasn't even in my state in the tracking history. Instead of arriving four days late, it arrived two days late in total shambles. It was a melted disgusting mess. Things happen and I get that but the customer service was atrocious. Would not recommend. So far, they aren't going to refund me but I'm not giving up. This isn't right.
It looks like a team member has assisted you with this issue and set up a credit for you to use towards a future order, as this error with the early cake delivery was our fault. We appreciate you writing in and allowing us to make this right for you! We hope you find something else great to enjoy with us!
Don't order from Goldbelly if you want your item in time for a holiday, party, or other special occasion. Estimated delivery dates, even when Goldbelly charges you more for expedited delivery, are a joke. Our order is two days late with no estimate for when it will get here. The company is taking no responsibility for its failure to deliver.
The cake I ordered was a Chocolate Flourless Torte what I got was a chocolate covered brownie cake. Two different type cakes. Not at all worth the 59.95 dollars I spent. And nothing was resolved only a 15% discount toward a future purchase if it qualified. That's laughable. Shannon a Goldbelly Rep. Replied, make sure you check out the "more details" when ordering. Shannon is right because the picture and details are 2 different cakes. It's the pictures that sells the product the "more details" should describe the cake that's in the picture. No thanks Shannon! Not even if it was free.
Looks like someone from our support team was able to help you out with this. Thank you for working with us so we could assist!
I have ordered from Goldbelly 5 times now. 3 out of 5 times order is late. Their customer service is useless. Never addresses the issue. Do NOT buy from them. You will end up with thawed food delivered days late (and not due to weather). FedEx 2 day delivery is how they say they send the packages but that is a lie. I am putting in a fraud complaint with my credit card company. Deceptive marketing. Does not fulfill promises of order. Basically non-existent customer service that really never contributes to email conversation and never resolved issue. If you want to buy partially spoiled food, go for it. Otherwise find another way. In past month I have started ordering from many of the shops directly and have never had a shipping issue. Bring Goldbelly into mix = thawed food that is delivered late.
Updated 4/10 - My issue at Goldbelly was escalated to a supervisor. My items arrived 2 days late (shipped on time but took 4 days to arrive vs 2) and was not cold. The supervisor offered me 2 options to make it right. I am upset that the special gift for my husband did not arrive on time and we did not want to use it after arriving 2 days later but Goldbelly did respond and made amends. I just placed another order tonight with them. I am crossing my fingers that all goes well but I felt that giving them another try was warranted. Thank you for addressing my issue.
Looks like someone from our support team was able to help you out with this. Thank you for working with us so we could assist!
I placed an order this company took my money & never given a confirmation. Tried to check the status & I must have an order # to put in a request. I obviously never got the order #. They were no help so I contacted the vendor they were processing orders for & she told them to refund my money now!
Hi Paula,
Looks like someone from our support team was able to help you out with this. Thank you for working with us so we could assist!
I have ordered multiple times from Goldbelly previously and been overall pleased with the products. This time, not so much. I ordered a Easter Cookie and decorating set ( 1 dozen) at the very pricey price of $69.00 plus tax to decorate with my Granddaughter when she visits. The cookies arrived and every single one of them was broken... not so good for decorating. I contacted Goldbelly and was promptly told they do NOT refund EVER for damaged products and they could not ship in time for my planned visit with their next available shipping date being 8 days away. Fortunately, I have found another company I have used previously for cakes and baked items without any problems, Bake Me A Wish. They will now be my go to always. Not sure what I should order with the "account credit" that I will be receiving in a "few days" from GoldBelly, but better be something solid as a brick to survive their shipping.
Answer: Automated response. Also, i don't like how i have to write 50 characters for a response. Whatever my response isis what my response is.
Answer: Hi Julie! Thanks for reaching out. We proactively monitor all packages and will communicate any possible or actual delays via email directly to you. Please feel free to reach out to us via support@goldbelly.com if you have any questions. Thanks!
Answer: They aren't necessarily a scam, but very poor customer service policies. If anything goes wrong with your order, like it did with mine, they just blocked me from their Facebook page so I couldn't leave a review. It's just luck if your order arrives and looks as you would expect and if it doesn't you are out of luck. Just contact local bakeries or restaurants and have them deliver for you, no reason to pay Goldbelly and have a third party who cares nothing about your order throw it around in the back of their truck and deliver it trashed. Goldbelly is unscrupulous and a big risk of wasted money.
Answer: Hi Barbara! Yes, it is the same business- we added the extra L this year. Thanks!
Answer: I received NO credit Goldbelly is not standing behind it.
Answer: Hi Samantha- Goldbely ships the best, most iconic food in the US directly to your door from the very people who produce it. If you have any more questions or are looking for any suggestions please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@goldbely.com Thanks!

Eat Well & Prosper! Capt. Goldbely
Answer: Please follow up again via email, chat or phone for a team member to review so we can further assist.
Answer: Hi there. You can place an order directly on line for the item you wish on www.goldbelly.com. You can also give customer service a call to assist you with placing the order.
Answer: Hi! They are one in the same- though we launched as Goldbely, we added the additional L last year. More L for the same low price :)

Hi Bill,
We're sorry to see you haven't enjoyed your experiences with us. We see you were able to enjoy another order for something else with a credit on us after your first pizza order, but we're sorry the pizza missed the mark for you twice. Our customer service team did their best to handle your issue with care and also alerted the shop of the issue, and we found there was not a quality issue with your pizza, though we're sorry to see it wasn't a great purchase for you twice in a row. We do our best to present our customers with the best resolutions as possible, but we do appreciate you giving us a try. Should you choose to try another type of pizza with us, feel free to use that coupon code, we'd love to see you again!
