My mother hired them, no idea what they do or did. Supposedly was there to clean. They charged her three times a month for their services. No one ever came. Supposedly they showed, but nobody was ever there. If they did clean I would like to know what garbage dump they live at because that's what the house looked like. She passed and they were "still coming for services" NOBODY EVER CAME! SCAM SCAM SCAM!
Booked a service, they took my money, than another Company called me and wanted to charge me again and couldn't keep the original date booked on top of that! Complete scam.
House cleaner emptied an entire carpet cleaner of water on my carpet and didn't tell me. I had made no request for carpet cleaning. After pulling 2 1/2 gallons of water out of my carpet, I had to pull up the carpet, throw away the padding, have a plumber come to check for damages and have carpet and pad reinstalled.
After almost $300 to repair the mess, handy sent one reply offering g me a $25 credit in my next cleaning. They have not responded to multiple requests for a call and resolution. Bad form!
Here we go, I have 2 felonies and 2 dui's, I passed a background check with them and am working on people's houses! Please be careful because if I got in, that means rapist, murderers, robbers, thieves are cleaning your houses and assembling your furniture! Look out!
I gave it one star bc they showed up. If your looking for a company to charge you a lot of money then disappear this is your company. They don't have a phone number for you to call and don't respond to your " problems ". My dresser was put together incorrectly and drawers are falling in. It's been 5 days and I can't get " Handy " to even contact me or respond to my emails.
They sent a horrible unprofessional unexperienced cleaner who ruined furniture, didn't take out the trash, "cleaned" the floors but actually our hardwoods have a nasty layer that comes up black with a wet paper towel. The cleaner haphazardly sprayed one kind of spray on EVERYTHING. Their customer service sucks worst than their providers! I sent a message about this horrible service because Handy supposedly has a "happiness guarantee". NOPE. They give you partial credits, NO REFUNDS. I paid one hundred and forty $ dollars, and they offered a twenty dollar $ credit. Like W-T-actual-F. WORST COMPANY TO EVER EXIST.
Excessive Fees, you buy your own supplies yet they take half the pay plus find ways to dig into yours. I have already contacted my attorney to file a lawsuit.
This is just another scam operation!
They dont tell you that when you sign up for a trial that you are acually signing up for a long term service - maybe its in the small print! I just wanted to try the service (it was horrible) and I didnt want to reschedule - i received an email scheduling the second service and i tried to cancel it - they told me that i had to keep scheduling and using their service - i said i didnt want it and asked to be removed they then charged me $100 to cancel - that is ridiculous!
Do not Sign up!
Also, there is no way to contact them directly, i have to go through a 3rd party site - they do that so they hope no one will write the reviews - horrible!
They started out Ok in the beginning but later on the structure gets very bad for service tech or handyman. I recently use that app again trying to get some side jobs. The rate they gave handyman and technician are very low, ( I'm a licensed electrician and the rate they have is $35 an hour w no trip charge), on top of that they want you pay more to be a premium service member so you can access jobs earlier than the one that didn't pay for it, another way to show they get greedy and want you to fork out more money before you make money. If you don't pay for additional fee, then you only see jobs that no one want to take because it cost way too much than the described hours to do that, for example: they offer like a $70 job for you to change a light at 20ft high ceiling. Just the cost of scaffolding or super long ladder with the vehicle carry that is like over $400 and you have to invest that much to make so little? That's why I haven't found a profitable job for a few months w their app, unless you really have nothing, no jobs from anywhere else, then you can consider using that to survive. You will make much more doing some marketing on Nextdoor or yelp, or serviz app.
Waste of time! They rescheduled twice an hour before the appointment. Yet if clients cancels their appointments per their cancellation policy you lose at least 15% of your deposit or all your money. Do not book with them.
Pros
So far my first three bookings went well, although handy kept more then 50% of what they charge, ive made good money doing extra tasks my clients requested. So far I've made 166$ through the handy app for 3 jobs I got paid 280$ In total for extra handy work in those same 3 jobs.
I was disappointed because on my first booking I scheduled 2 in 1 day and things took longer then expected so I wasn't able to do the 2nd job and got charged a $50 fee but after sending handy 2 emails I've got the 50$ Fee removed as a courtesy warning.
Cons
On my first booking they charged my client 200$ and I only got 34$ out of it. They take most of the money they charge people
They have no number you can call because it's reasonable, handy doesn't want to deal with workers with lack of experience spamming their lines because they can't complete the job or clients complaining about unprofessional amateurs
Also there's a misunderstanding when clients find out how much royalty handy keeps
Over all if you have background knowledge on the services you claim to fulfill you shouldn't have a problem completing the job with out the help of support
Handy.com has no regard for customer feedback. All they care about is taking your money. Avoid at all costs! They will not get back to you. They will have no interest to get back to you. All they care about is that they can continue to bill you for $#*!ty service.
I purchased a projector through the Army Airforce Exchange (AAFES) and the installation was supposed to be provided this company. Handy sent me a email confirmation of the appointment time but no one ever showed and I keep emailing but getting no response. I called the Exchange and notified them of what took place they sent them a message and stated to give them until Monday and they will refund me. After reading all of these reviews this company should be shut down immediately! I also plan to file a complaint with the Attorney General of New York because this seems to be a common practice with them.
The people hired for this company are not experienced at their jobs and not professional. I got a garage rack installed and it was very unprofessionally done and not even sturdy. They ate ot paying these people enough to do the job, so they are doing substandard work. I am i the process of asking for a full refund because the hob still has not been done correct.
They charged 102 for 3 hour cleaning, pro did not shownup, they charged 50 penalty to pro, i got refund, i ended up cleaning my home on my own.
For all this they charge 99 per year membership fee
robbing.com suits them
I saw an ad for $37 home cleaning which I thought was a great deal so I signed up for a six month plan because you can only get the deal with the reoccurring service. When I looked at when the next cleaning would happen I noticed that the fee would be $99 so I rescheduled the appointment for a date in the future when I did that they charged me $99. So then I canceled my membership and they charge me another $99. So, I have $100 of credit and a $99 cancellation fee that I didn't get back. When I contacted them to complain they said that's our policy. I don't think that's fair several companies allow you to cancel without charging you $100 fee! I think that's ridiculous, Only sign up for a one time service never sign up for a plan with this company I'm very disappointed.
My review of trying to become a handypro. I started the application process on 08/09/2019, it's now 09/01/2019 and I'm still waiting. Whenever I email them I get the same email over and over again. Your application is still being reviewed. First it was all you have to do is setup your schedule and start accepting jobs. It's taking a month to do something that was only suppose to take 3-5 business days. I don't even want to deal with this app anymore
I am very disappointed with the clean service delivered yesterday. It was my first time with Handy and I was expecting an outstanding service.
I decided to make the 3 month plan, because I did not want to worry about the cleaning service and I trusted that Handy would take care of it. After the first disappointed experience with the pro Charney, I did cancelled my plan and was charged $99. However, Handy did not delivered the cleaning service accordingly to the company policy.
The kitchen floor as well as the counters were NOT cleaned.
Also, the furniture surfaces were not cleaned.
Please, see attached the pictures after the pro cleaned my house.
What happened?
While I was at home the pro Charney was doing a good job in the bathroom, unfortunately, I had to leave for an appointment and when I came back she had only did the dishes and vacuum the carpet (not very well done I have to note here), leaving behind the kitchen floor as well as the the kitchen counters. Also, the dust in the furniture surfaces were not cleaned. I feel that I was taken advantage of. I had the impression that the pro Charney took the tip that I left on the table and left in a rush after I left the apartment.
I need a pro that will do a good job with me at home or not. I am hiring someone to do the job because I want to be able to make my appointments. I don't want to be supervising the pro in order to get the job done properly.
It is funny that Handy keep saying that it is the company policy not refund the early cancellation fee of $99, however, they forget to mention that is also the company policy to delivery a complete clean service which did not happen.
The worst part is that they don't have a telephone number to talk with their customer service. Everything is done by email.
After a lot of back and forth with emails, they gave me a free clean service for the next visit.
I would not recommend this company as your clean service provider.
I wish I read the reviews before I signed up. All the cleaners they send are sub standard for the premium bucks you are paying. I signed up a 6 month recurring plan and all my experiences so far have been head aches. The customer service just tries to give you 20 dollar discount for the next cleaning when you complain about the service. When I asked them to cancel my plan, they don't want to waive the $99 cancellation fee. I have never seen such a bad service from a company in this age. Also, they never send the same pro. It's always a different one and they get worser and worser. The cleaning supplies they bring are so harsh chemicals that my lungs feel bad and my migraine triggers. I cannot believe how they can charge premium buck but not take care of the quality. The pro I got today is sick and sneezing all over my place. It's a shame they don't have any guidelines for these things. They only post the 5 star reviews in their site for the cleaners. When you give a bad review, they just filter it out. So when you go to see a cleaner's profile, they all have excellent reviews. That's major cheating. I urge everyone to stay away from handy.com. Being in bay area, you always have other better options. You don't need to go through this mental agony.
They don't deserve one star. I called and scheduled a booking to replace a 22,000 btu AC. After reading their horrible reviews, I cancelled the very next day. Thwey acknowledged the cancel but sent no confirmation. On the day of the booking a frail little man who had to be 75yrs. Old appeared at my door! I told him that I had cancelled. The company said that I had no proof of cancellation and they were going to charge a cancellation fee. I told him that I would dispute any charge because I had cancelled in plenty of time. When I got my bill, they had charged $232.50 to my account! They are a total SCAM! DO NOT USE HANDY.
Answer: They don't provide a refund, even when they fail to honor the agreement. In my case, they have twice (so far) canceled my house cleaning with one hour's notice. (If I fail to give 24 hours notice of cancellation, I have to pay a penalty. For them, no notice, no penalty.) They told me they were having trouble finding cleaners in my area. And if the no shows are a problem for me, I can pay the $99 cancellation fee. So how long does this go on? Three cancellations, five, ten? Forever? This is an irresponsible company with horrible customer service.
Answer: Im having problems getting paid. I told client to have cash on hand as I wont do the job. Good luck finding someone else with my skill set. Im supposed to do a job tomorrow that i have to buy stuff out of my own money and hold my breath for pay back. Ill stand on a corner begging for money before I do another job for them unless they pay me for past jobs and I talk to someone on the phone.
Answer: Again, these should not be appearing in the automatic feed for FAQ's? Who is doing QA around here?
Answer: Probably should not list someone's personal telephone number in the FAQ feed. What do you guys think?
Answer: Wayfair is also a scam. It's just a matter of time. They are a middle man to hundreds of businesses. They sell products regardless of whether or not the product is available or in inventory. Eventually people will catch on...
