This is a total mess. I do not have an Account with this company. Requested service once and paid $159 for a $#*!ty job. I called in to complain about the bad service. The company charged me $99 cancellation fee after that and then in a few days sent another cleaners to my home with just one hour notice. Did not request a service and I don't have access to my account nor I can speak with someone to cancel the Service. Does this sound like a bad service? Absolutely scam. This really smells like a lawsuit to me.
I've been a Handyman for over 20 years, and have pretty much done it all. Thought I'd give the 'Handy' app a try, but "Handy Technologies" rejected my contracting application based upon a 27 year old, vacated trespassing conviction. I make allot of honest dollars and really don't need Handy, but here's the kicker... their app STILL keeps sending me work even though their corp offices haven't accepted my application. So I reject the work on their app! There's doubt that I'd get paid! These people don't know whether they're coming or going! It's really scary because I haven't had a problem with the law in over 27 years. I'm not looking for trouble because Handy does NOT properly classify the contractors. So I've deleted their app and blocked all email from 'Handy.' Handy go away and let the States do their contracting locally without interference from some high-rise in "New Yawk" trying to scam-up techie money!
Ordered a plumber via Handy for a tap replacement who kept on bringing the wrong parts yet demanded payment in cash! I told him that I preferred to pay via Handy. Handy dealt with the situation appropriately by refunding me all the money spent hiring their crook plumber. The next day I hired a plumber from my local area which I googled and he replaced the tap with ZERO issue.
This is a horrible company. I had an issue and contacted customer service - which is a nightmare all by itself. Customer service did get back to me. AND MADE IT WORSE. I told them that I wasn't comfortable having a man in my house that I didn't know. To which they responded, "we cannot guarantee you a female professional exclusively." Ok, that is fine. But, I don't feel safe with a man in my house. So, I asked to cancel the service, since they could not provide me with what I needed. They charged me a $99 fee to cancel my account. Are you kidding me? And, they said if I don't pay it they will send me to collections. This is the worst company. Please, please, please don't get mixed up with them.
Corporate complaints: TERRIBLE customer service. Not intuitive app. They text you 90min before the service to remind you, yet the cancellation window is 2hr without getting charged which I find incredible manipulative. There is no phone number to call to speak with anyone. I have had repeated issues every month.
Professional complaints: Often show up late and rarely do a good job. I booked someone for three hours and they left after one yet I had to pay the whole window. RIDICULOUS.
These services should relieve customers of stress yet all it has been is a nuisance every month. DO NOT ENGAGE THIS COMPANY.
Pre paid for 6 hours deep cleaning. The newly installed floor was mopped and a door was wiped off, rest was untouched. The front door was left unlocked. My calls for someone to come actually do the job were ignored and I did not get a full refund.
Very nice young man came and worked hard but house was not clean when he left. Didnt do shower or tub, streaks on mirrors. Used so much soap on my floor child slipped and fell. Had to rinse dry with rags 10 times still soap on floor. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER. Have to send email
I wouldn't give ANY "stars" if it would let me... and if you look at my attached picture showing where my 70" TV is supposed to be hanging,,, you'll understand why! I bought the $79 installation thru Walmart in Lawrenceburg, TN when I bought my 70" TV. Handy.com sent a guy named John Horton to hang my TV over my fireplace. What a joke! After a few months my 70" TV fell off of the wall and landed on my floor!. HANDYS EMPLOYEE... JOHN HORTON MOUNTED A 70 " TV INTO SHEETROCK... NOT IN STUDS... IN SHEETROCK! What an IDIOT! I had to pay sometime to repair my Sheetrock. PLUS buy another new $800 TV! I've filed a claim with Handy.com which said they needed 8-10 days to review the claim... and I'm still waiting to hear from HANDY about my claim for over a month later!
Handy is a headache. All communication is done via email. Handy will debit your account the day before your cleaning, and then the contracted cleaners don't show up. Handy has sent some seedy individuals to my home. I am curious if the even vet their pros.
First let me say the professional who came out to help was wonderful and this is nothing against him.
I booked a 5 hour appt for a professional to meet me at our lakehouse in Michigan to put together furniture on a Saturday. I left Chicago early on Saturday to be sure I was there on time to meet him. Two hours before he was scheduled, as I was on the road, I got a message that the appt was rescheduled for Monday. Well, I planned on being back in Chicago on Monday and not still in Michigan. I looked everywhere for a number to call but none was provided. I expressed my displeasure via email and was told they rescheduled for Sunday at noon but that no professional was assigned so basically it might be a no show again.
I posted on Facebook and had a lovely individual come out and help me on Saturday. I saved a few projects for Sunday just in case someone showed up. Luckily he did and he stayed for about 3.5 hours. I paid the original price I had booked (5 hours). I didn't ask for a refund for the additional 1.5 hours because I honestly didn't want to deal with the company anymore.
They Initially "compensated" me by giving me a whole $10 credit, which did not come off the Sunday appt. I emailed telling them I wanted that credit applied to this booking as I would never be using their company again. They refused, "but the good thing is, the $10 will automatically be applied once you create a new booking"
Nope. Not gonna fight over $10. I'd rather just let everyone out there in internet land know. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
WORST! I do not want to be part of their program and when I say I want a refund so I dont have to keep using their service they said NO! I want my $99 dollars back without penalty. This is ridiculous.
HERE IS WHY: Not only did I have a horrific experience with my first "pro" which they were scheduled for 3 hours and rushed through it in one. I left a review for them when they left and they walked back into the house without knocking and started confronting me about it. The second time. I got a young girl who I had to show and help clean with her. The third time I booked someone and 24 hours later they accepted and then cancelled so I had nobody 2 hours before the actual cleaning time.
First of all let me start by saying I had to scroll a very long ways on this feed to find anything but a 1 star review.
Travel a lot! I scheduled for a cleaning for my sons graduation and flew in a day early so they could clean the house. Right before the cleaning the cancelled. When I tried to reach out to customer service they said I cancelled, which was not the case. I was able to cancel my plan but they kept the $133 for the cleaning they never did. I contested with my credit card saying I never got the services but Handy sent all of the items to them and also told the credit card company I cancelled which was not the truth. I have since tried to log into my account to use the credit they won't refund me and I've been locked out of my account. I have contacted them twice on this and they said it's fixed but it's not and so I feel they have stolen my money. I am contacting the New York Attorney General for misconduct of funds and plan to add printed copies of the pages and pages of reviews. I will also be contacting the BBB on them. My goal after seeing all of this is the Attorney General will investigate and close down the business. They are thieves and will not provide services and then will also steal your money. I also love their generic replies to all of the posts. I emailed them again today and still no response to my locked out account.
I scheduled a cleaning with Handy today. My pro texted me at the appointment time and told me that she had driven to an address an hour away from me because my address was entered in the Handy App incorrectly. When I contacted Handy Customer Service, I was told that this was considered "a late cancelation" by me and that I would be charged the entire amount! It was not my mistake! I have had several other handy pro's come to the house with no problem. I have no idea how my address was changed in the handy app. I certainly didn't do it! So I paid $100 for service I did not receive because of a mistake THEY made!
I have used this service several times. I used the cleaning service (and did a membership for 3-4 months) that worked pretty well.
I used it for a plumber... also went great.
But here we come to the last time i used them... I needed a handyman to install ceiling lights, bathroom lights and a fan. The guy that came brought a challenged friend "to help"
It took them 2 + hours to install the fan... They actually admitted that they just watched it on YouTube to see how to do it. I had to give them pointers as to what they should be doing. Mind you i am not 'handy' at all, but i do have a brain. After 4.5 hours only half the job was done. My bathroom lights don't fully cover the hole in wall. The fan works but not the way i should, i can't change speeds. And i have no idea if they installed any of the 4 lights, yes 4 in 4.5 hours with 2 men, correctly. Are there exposed wires? Were they all grounded correctly? I don't know. But Handy doesn't actually care. They refunded me just under half of the fee. And that's it.
I signed up for a cleaning and somehow ended up on the hook for a yearly plan that it cost $99 to cancel. I talked to customer service and thought I had worked it all out, but it turns out they rolled me into another account that changes $10 a month to hold my money for future cleaning services and they allocated my $99 into the first ten month's payments for the account. It seems like the business model here is to trick customers into getting trapped in a plan that you have to pay to get out of. Even then, they don't make it easy or straight foreword. It would be one thing if I knew I signed up for a plan and then wanted out, but I used a mobile device to book the appointment (which never happened) and never saw anything about the monthly plan. If the had any integrity, they would return the money of customers who didn't use their services, but instead I am held hostage to a company that I was foolish enough to give my credit card number too.
Not even one star.
They trick you thinking that you can book a cleaning for 40$. They come in and that's done. Then you realize you've signed up to a 3 months subscription that you can only cancel by paying 100$.
The second cleaning, the lady arrived way too early and I was not home. So we agreed that she should come the next day. She said that works better for her. They charged me 170$ (which is a rip off, the usual price is 60-80$ for a 1 bedroom) and the lady cancelled the next day. Customer service said that since I rescheduled last minute I don't get refunded.
I had to pay 100$ to cancel. So in total, I paid 270$ and only got my 1 bedroom apartment cleaned up once.
Big SCAM
I booked a 6 month, monthly service on the last sunday of every month. Received confirmation of this appointment by text and email. The cleaner did NOT show up, I have called her and texted her and left a voicemail, no response. Meaning this appointment was never confirmed with their "professional". Handy doesn't have a phone number to call. I have emailed them through the app about this. The only response I received is we are sorry and here is $10 in credit. I have sent 4 call me requests on email. I have received no response, call or acknowledgement of my request at all. I was depending on this service to clean for a party. Now i am cleaning the house myself and Handy's customer service won't even apologize with a phone call. Just a template email from Christine in their customer service team. This is a horrible experience and they won't even refund my money or apologize? Extremely disappointed and HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I dont think they deserve even one star! That might signify they were good at something. Want to talk to a human? Lol
Dont use their service, dont work for them stay away!
As a detailed cleaner I constantly get 5 star ratings, but can my ratings stay at 80? No way, 85 dropped to 73 in a matter of hours after been rated 5 on my last job. Stop cheating the people who work so hard.
Booked a cleaning with handy 3 weeks in advance. Left work and sat at home for 40 minutes. The only way you can contact them is to BUY their app which i did so i could figure out why they didn't show up. First they said they were running late, then suddenly said they needed to cancel. SCAM. DO NOT EVER USE!
Answer: They don't provide a refund, even when they fail to honor the agreement. In my case, they have twice (so far) canceled my house cleaning with one hour's notice. (If I fail to give 24 hours notice of cancellation, I have to pay a penalty. For them, no notice, no penalty.) They told me they were having trouble finding cleaners in my area. And if the no shows are a problem for me, I can pay the $99 cancellation fee. So how long does this go on? Three cancellations, five, ten? Forever? This is an irresponsible company with horrible customer service.
Answer: Im having problems getting paid. I told client to have cash on hand as I wont do the job. Good luck finding someone else with my skill set. Im supposed to do a job tomorrow that i have to buy stuff out of my own money and hold my breath for pay back. Ill stand on a corner begging for money before I do another job for them unless they pay me for past jobs and I talk to someone on the phone.
Answer: Again, these should not be appearing in the automatic feed for FAQ's? Who is doing QA around here?
Answer: Probably should not list someone's personal telephone number in the FAQ feed. What do you guys think?
Answer: Wayfair is also a scam. It's just a matter of time. They are a middle man to hundreds of businesses. They sell products regardless of whether or not the product is available or in inventory. Eventually people will catch on...
