I scheduled an installation with Hellotech only to have them cancel three times and then no show on the fourth. I contacted customer service, and they promised a full refund. Six email exchanges and a month later, there has been no refund. Each time they were contacted they said they had "escalated" my concern and would contact me within 24 hours. The only contact I received was an email for a customer satisfaction survey which I had already filled out three times. Still chasing, still waiting...
We requested that a Ring security system be installed, along with two cameras. Company sent out an incompetent technician who ended up having to leave midway through the job, saying he had to get to his other workplace. He did not finish installing the system, nor did he even start on the two cameras. Only one of the eight door sensors for the security system was correctly installed. The other sensors were either incorrectly installed or not installed at all. It's impossible to get ahold of anyone at the company. When I finally did get a response, they offered a 20% refund ($65.60) on the $328 job. Two cameras were not even touched ($229) and the $99 security system was not functional. So I paid $262.40 for nothing! I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I'm stunned that this company has any decent reviews. I normally don't write reviews, but after my experience with this company, I feel compelled to share in hopes of saving others from the frustration and time I've gone through. From the beginning, communication was spotty at best. I scheduled a service with them well in advance and was assured that everything was confirmed. The day of the appointment came and went—no one showed up. No phone call, no email, not even a courtesy text to let me know there would be a delay. I had taken time off work specifically to be available, only to be completely ghosted. I reached out the next day and was told there had been an "unexpected delay" and that someone would reschedule with me immediately. I gave them the benefit of the doubt—everyone has off days, right? Unfortunately, that was just the beginning of the ongoing pattern of unkept promises. They rescheduled... and failed to show up again. This cycle repeated itself multiple times: confirm an appointment, fail to show, offer vague apologies, and promise to "make it right" with a new date. Each time, I cleared my schedule, and each time I was left waiting with no service delivered. After the third no-show, I finally asked for a full refund. I had already paid in advance for a service that, to this day, has never been provided. That's when things got even more frustrating. Suddenly, the customer service reps became much harder to reach. Calls went to voicemail, emails were ignored, and when I did finally get a response, it was full of vague promises that my refund was "being processed." That was over a month ago. To date, I have not received a dime back. It's one thing for a company to run into scheduling issues—life happens, and I can be understanding when people are honest and proactive. But the complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic respect for a customer's time and money is unacceptable. Not honoring a refund for a service that was never rendered is not only unethical, it borders on theft. I've since filed a complaint with my bank and reported the company to the Better Business Bureau. If you're considering using their services, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. There are plenty of businesses out there that value their customers and operate with integrity. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. Save yourself the stress. Avoid this company at all costs.
Take your business elsewhere. HelloTech will be out of business soon. This is from the perspective of one of their top techs. When I started taking job offers from HelloTech years ago, the techs received the larger portion of payout (which is how it should be). NO TECHS EQUALS NO HELLOTECH. After several partnerships, tech payout is less than half in most cases. Now that they have lost most of their techs to competitors, they have resorted to annoying the few of us left by sending job offers hundreds of miles from home and even out of state, even though they CANNOT AFFORD to pay what it would cost to convince any tech to travel that far. Especially, since most techs have full-time day jobs and do not have the time or interest to travel that far. However, even after making multiple requests to management to stop sending offers that fall outside of the tech's schedule and distance preferences, they continue to ignore and show a complete lack of respect to the techs. FYI, they are doing just so they can tell customer's in areas where there are no techs that they tried to find a tech. Instead of being up front with the customer, they would rather annoy techs (in another state or city) knowing full well the techs will not accept the job offer, because they have already been notified by the tech that they only accept jobs within their preferred schedule and distance preferences. Keep in mind, this company is ONLY A PLATFORM. They do not have employed (W2) techs. They just contract to local resources. Do yourself (and the hard working techs) a favor and take your business elsewhere. Companies that use these sort of predatory and deceptive practices do not deserve your hard earned money. Virtually any other platform is a better option than HelloTech. Thank you for your consideration.
Megan was fantastic in helping me install and activate a new modem/ router ('surfboard'). She helped me with my connectivity issues, and she explained what she was doing throughout the process. In the end, she had everything neater than when she'd arrived.
My tech Austin was the best. His knowledge, skills and customer service was above standard.
The tect answered all my questions took his time explaining. He was efficient and professional. Very courteous. I would definitely recommend this company
Was very knowledgeable, helpful friendly efficient. Everything that you would ask for!
Lei Z from hello tech was great in installing tv mount, he installed as per our requirement and he is very quite, calm and quick.
The tech was clearly inexperienced. He was unsure of the mounting hardware, drilled more holes than necessary and was unclear on the entirety of the job. I paid for a professional with superior knowledge to myself to complete a job I didn't want to do. I could have received the same level of assistance from my teenage son. The first tech was a no show, the service was rescheduled for the same day but even that tech was over an hour late and then he seemed to have little knowledge of the job he was hired to perform.
No one showed up or called after two appts. One which was scheduled days prior. Don't waste your money. Refunds take 4-7 weeks for check or 2-4 for PayPal rescheduled for next week and told that's not guaranteed
What a pleasant experience I had having Kareem install my sonos surround system. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I am incredibly happy how everything turned out. Thank you.
Installer encountered a smaller than standard lock installation and had to cut the hole bigger in the door. His drill also failed, but he went and got a replacement and finished the job.
Super easy and quick! Steve was awesome! I definitely will be using again and sharing yo family and friends!
Joshua was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Very easily mounted a very large TV and talked with me to help me figure out concealment and style. Very much appreciate his help.
Answer: Don't use hellotech. They can not be trusted. They overcharge. They lie. They are a rip off.
