Shill reviewers can't be trusted
April 9, 2023

I bought a Dell 7610 laptop based in part on the review PC Magazine did on the hardware, where they gave it a "4/5" and called it "Excellent". I then spent the next 8 months fighting with Dell because I was shipped one of their defective laptops with the touchpad issue that affected some 40% of the entire production line. 4 touchpad replacements and a motherboard replacement later, I'm finally getting sent a replacement laptop. PC Magazine still has that review up calling the 7610 "excellent". See here: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/dell-inspiron-16-plus-7610

There's nothing excellent about the 7610. It's a piece of crap with a 40% failure rate.

I will never trust anything these shills say again. If they recommend it, I won't buy it.

I no longer feel PC mag is reliable. My experience with some of these websites didn't match up with my experience with these websites that i tried.

Together wimps. They offer a review section but ask me at the end of my review if I was afraid of hurting somebody's feelings. Hell no I was giving a review on steam which is garbage customer service entity. They owe me money they won't pay it back they screwed up my game as well as Rockstar security and that was my purpose of writing review on PC Mag. I swear it must be run by 10-year-olds and 10-year-olds that are pure as driven snow. Embarrassing I would never want to work for such a company that cannot allow people to post their anger towards a company. It's a review if this company Steam and Rockstar scathing reprimand for the Earth deplorable conduct then they should get the best words for it. PC mag is for what rhymes with mag. I'll be surprised if they even post my comments. Folks this is a sad state, this is deplorable in denying our rights to say anything you want. And those of you that will rationalize and demean our constitution by saying I can't offend anybody you guys have it wrong. These folks in these companies that think they have amnesty from the law of the United States are arrogant as arrogant as those in Congress who believe they can step on our rights. PC gag Is the epitome of a corporation that steps on our rights. Screw the fact that these people make a lot of money, but since they're trying to take control of your brains, between words are supposed to convey ideas. It's a sad sad time you young folks I'm sorry I'm sorry that it's the people from my generation that have started this movement of lies and see. Telling you that black is white, wrong is right, and not to fight for your rights on any medium is wrong. Screw PC Mac, screw Steam, screw Rockstar.

I am writing this after having used Zoom for over a month for work. Zoom has been a frustrating experience because of connectivity issues and after much frustration, I did a google search on Zoom. I have read many reviews discussing the pros and cons of Zoom and some are fairly serious, such as intentionally writing a backdoor program for Mac Zoom installs that would allow hackers to access a user's camera. There is no way this could have been done accidentally. And there were also lies about end-to-end encryption. There is no way this could have been told accidentally. PC Mag, however, simply finds excuses and glosses over these very serious issues.
I trusted PC Mag in the past, but my experience with Zoom in contrast to PC Mag's review of Zoom along with reviews from others about the bias PC Mag has towards its advertisers has made me realize Zoom should not be trusted.

Services unforgivable
April 22, 2020

While on a stay at home order to help the fight against covid 19. I decided to use Go Puff.com, a delivery service. Being new to this particular services, I decided to step out on faith. In the belief of honesty and decent customer service. I ordered 8 simple items for about $50.00. The service was quick and I received my order. However one of my items was a half gallon of milk, that was already outdated. They offered to refund my money, but a refund wasn't what I ordered. I still need a half gallon of milk. They will never have to worry about me again.

I wish to simply "click" on a "unsubscribe" and presto it is done! Why hold everyone captive? Why hold everyone captive unless there is a suspicion you would lose big numbers of subscribers and then that could relate in less advertisers! Please simply delete me from your list! I have tried to do it myself but you have too many steps (that's my point)!

My computer arrived broken and there's no one to talk to. Still waiting for a label to return. What a sham.

So, I bought an attractively priced Nest Hello door bell/camera. I got an email confirmation for my order. When I click on"View Your Order" in the email, it takes me to a page where there is no shipping information whatsoever. Your further choices are "Contact Us" which is an email address that does not produce a response. And a return policy.

I would not buy again A 5% savings on a $200 item to deal with a company whose name implies a connection to technology, but is unable to deliver convenient shopping experience offered by mom and pop online shops.

Bought a laptop from thier site. It came and I went to use it but the product id that was listed on the bottom of the laptop did not work in activating windows 10. Wrote them of the problem (it is the only way to get a hold of them) and they just sent me the same info that is sent with the laptop on finding and activating the system. Then they wanted me to take a picture of the product id and model & s/n... which I did. 5 days later they finally wrote that a product manager was looking into it. Not once did anyone call me. They took their sweet time in finally getting back to me and so now I sit here with a laptop that can not be activated and with a company that I'm dealing with that does not value their customers in my opinion. I have now requested a return authorization and of course I have not heard from them. Buyers beware of my lousy experience with them!

The comment section of PC Mag's Review of HostGator does not coincide with the 5-star rating they claim... this is unethical.

I bought a 65 inch TV from PC mag and had doubts at first because the vendor wasn't a Bestbuy or Costco, etc. But this is easily once of the most seamless purchases I've made. Within two days of ordering the TV, I got a confirmation that it shipped. Delivery was made 2 days after the confirmation. Delivery guy came on time and was extremely polite / professional.

Hello John G. We understand your frustration, but unfortunately our PCMag Shop only accommodates customers in the United States. The product listing for learning courses states that information as well. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion. You can always contact us through our customer service email contactshop@pcmag.com.

Ordered an OLED TV and waited a week for it to ship. After numerous unanswered emails I filed a dispute through PayPal and they suddenly created a shipping label am hour after PayPal contacted them. They then proceeded to jerk me around for another few days before finally issuing a refund. This website is run by scam artists. You have been warned.

Hello. We would love to research this issue further, but we don't have a record of a Joe S who purchased an OLED TV. If you would kindly email us at contactshop@pcmag.com we would like to investigate what happened with your order.

Awful! Awful! Awful!
November 30, 2018

I ordered a 65" LG OLED TV on shop.pcmag.com They immediately charged $2,249 to my credit card. Delivery was supposed to be three days. Four days later, I emailed (NOTE: They do not provide a Customer Service phone number - little wonder given my experience.) A bit later, I got an email stating the TV had shipped. I was overjoyed! But, that was false. I tried to track it, and FedEx had not received any shipment. The same thing the next day. And the next. And the next. Finally, after four days with the website stating my order had shipped, discovering each day (via FedEx - no way to talk to anyone at shop.pcmag.com) that that was not true, and concluding they had no intention of honoring and shipping my purchase, I disputed the credit card charge, cancelled the "order" and demanded my money back.

I'd give shop.pcmag.com zero stars if it were an option. I feel I was taken advantage of and have no reason to believe this is uncommon, especially in light of their direct email misrepresentation to me about having fulfilled and shipped my order when they hadn't. I will never deal with them again, and would never recommend anyone else do so either.

Hello Ronald, we sincerely apologize for the experience you had. Your order was placed on Black Friday, and unfortunately our fulfillment center became overwhelmed due to extremely high demand. Also, unfortunately, automated shipping confirmation emails are sent at the moment that a FedEx tracking number is issued for an order, which occurred shortly after your purchase. Our customer service team was communicating with you during the process. We cancelled your order and refunded your charge within three hours of your email request to do so. We fully own that this issue was caused by our fulfillment center backup, and we sincerely apologize again.

I ordered five PC's for my business that were warrantied for one year and PC MAG SHOP sent two broken computers and have been non-responsive when confronted with the problem.

By the way, no phone number and when you email them they respond in delayed fashion with hoops to jump through and then when you jump through those hoops - there are always more afterward. WOULD NEVER ORDER FROM THEM EVER EVER EVER AGAIN.

SOMETIMES YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. JUNK.

Hi Russell, we're sorry we let you down. We've shipped thousands of computers to satisfied customers, but unfortunately you received two damaged ones. We were happy that we could replace one of them and refund the other, but we agree that the resolution process took too long. Our customer service team revised our returns process following your experience. Thank you for your feedback.

PC Magazine was at one time a well respected publication. Since other channels have garnered a status beyond their own, they have resorted to selling out their integrity for product placement and affiliate arrangements. They recently fired John C. Dvorak for producing an article based on facts about 5G. This shows they are not interested in publishing anything factual; they are only interested in the financial interests of their sponsors. Money over truth.

One star is being generous
September 28, 2018

If I could give them zero stars, I would be happy. I placed an order for a laptop on September 20,2018. They created a FedEx label on September 24,2018. I called FedEx today, and they have not even requested a pick up date. They happily charged my credit card on the 20th. Today is the 28th, and they have DONE NOTHING! I am reporting them to the BBB.
