I spent over 6 hours on the phone with various Progressive agents because I couldn't purchase insurance for a second home, boat, or umbrella polices on line. My only option was to call and give up 6 hours of my life instead of an hour or less answering all of Progressives' questions on line. They also pulled the bait and switch on me, also. They only asked a small number of questions on line, gave me a quote, and then when I went to purchase, I was required to call the sales department. After they asked me additional questions, my "quote" went up
$600! Come on, Progressive! This is the 21st century!
I was violated by having my car broken into. So I filed a comprehensive claim. Next thing I know this no good company decided to double by payments without any explanation. It is counterintuitive to have insurance when you need to use it and that's what happen. We'll Progressive if you took the time to inquire about your customers you would have found out that I have been driving for 50 years without any accident. So how the hell can you consider me an un safe driver. All you are to this company is a number and nothing else. Consider your self warned. Please don't get insurance from this company. Bad business!
Delayed bait and switch. When first signed up, I was given a lower rate than what I had with Geico, but with the same coverage (why I switched).
When 6 months came and needed to renew, rate went up $95. Called the company, got transferred to sales department, and they said, well it was an initial e-sign discount, and when you renew, it comes off. Nowhere did I see this when I applied online, or on the paperwork that came with my new insurance cards. Maybe it was really fine print.
When I said if the rate doesn't go down, I will drop you, then offered me less coverage. I said no, I want the best protection, what I already have now. So they said we can't do anything for you. I said I dropped Geico as their rates kept going up. You guys aren't helping yourself. She had the guts to tell me that the reason Geico is raising their rates is that a lot of people are getting into accidents now and Geico has to pay for their claims. What BS. She also told me that a lot of people switch from Geico to Progressive and back again to get better rates with the same coverage, and I could be one of them.
Seriously?!?! What has happened to customer service these days?! Aren't you supposed to do your best to make the customer stay with you?! I guess I'm just a number. I will never go with these guys again.
And now, if I'm going to get another carrier, I will be calling the customer service line to make sure that what I see online is right. I would advise anyone reading this and wanting to change insurances to do the same. It did sound too good to be true...
I don't have any tickets, violations, or anything on my record, so I deserve a normal rate. I will be taking my business elsewhere... If they keep doing this, I hope they will lose enough customers and get enough bad reviews to either change their practices or go out of business. Not worth your time or effort. Forget all those commercials with Flo where they try to make themselves look good. They're a bunch of scammers. Good riddance!
Auto policy holder for 13 years. Recently notified on the Progressive App that I need to finish enrollment in the Accident Response program by registering my phone number. This is a life saving feature that notifies EMT if you're in a bad accident. Pretty important! There is a glitch when you enter your phone number/security code so you CAN'T finish registering for it. I've made three calls over three weeks and NO ONE seems to be competent or willing to fix the issue!
They contacted me after the insured went through my fence. Sent them the bill for repairs. They changed adjuster then wanted more info keep changing to delay paying for Damage!
Progressive insurance just increased my annual auto premium by 30%. Never had an accident, never had a claim, never had any tickets on my license (in over 30 years). I just paid the monthly bill when I realized the increase, so I switched to another insurance and they advised me they can't cancel my policy more than 30 days out, so I have to call back in 1 week to cancel my policy.
Terrible communication from the claims agent Lauren Spegal when my truck was hit by a tree. Incident occurred 8/15/23 for reference. Her voicemail says that she's the best contact to handle questions about my claim and that she returns calls by the next day at 10 am as long as she is working which is Tuesday-Friday. Laruen Spegal has never communicated with me once; without me contacting her supervisor first after waiting 10 days for word, and multiple days for her to call me back after I finally reached out to Lauren Spegal and left a message and sent an email. That was to even find out if I could put my truck in the body shop because I didn't want to remove the tree if they needed pics! Then, after the body shop stuff, I still have not heard back from Lauren Spegal, even after going online and finding out that my claim was "closed". Well, the body shop was unaware and they say the claim shouldn't be closed because Progressive is having them cut the panels off the bed of my truck instead of replacing the whole bed which then creates more damage and, even though Progressive knows it'll create more damage, that the adjuster from Progressive has to come out and preview that damage created before they can proceed with fixing it and that adds to the claim. So now, I've called and left messages and sent another email to Lauren Spegal, as well as her supervisor, after waiting again 2 days for Lauren Spegal to return my call with no communication. This is ridiculous. My claim says it was closed and I should've been cut a check on 9/26/23 but it's now 10/5/23 at 9:43 am and I have no check, received no communication from anyone from Progressive, and have only found out about this through the Progressive website on Monday 10/2/23.
Progressive is the worst insurance I have ever had since I have had insurance in the last 50 years. I am retired and live in SW Florida, and I am a Diamond+ customer with Progressive. I had damage during Hurricane Ian, specifically, damage to my Boat and PWC. I also had damage to my home, which was a horrific experience with Progressive, but this review is for my Boat and PWC. When I filed claims for my Home, Boat and PWC, the biggest problem that stood out to me was that I was not allowed to talk to the on-site Adjusters who showed up to assess the damage. This resulted in a very cursory review and assessment, and they missed about 97% of the damage with all claims. They then passed the on-site assessment to Reps in the Ohio office who knew very little about Florida, Homes, Boats or PWCs. They then closed all 3 claims stating there was insufficient damage and well under the deductible for each. To make a long story short and pertinent, it took me 4 months of back and forth to get the Home claim paid, which was updated to cover the 97% of the damage missed, and it took 1 year to get the Boat claim paid which was updated to cover the 97% damage missed. The Boat claim only got paid because I called one day and got a different Adjuster in a different department by chance who was decent and intelligent and closed the claim with payment. My PWC claim was handled by same Adjuster from the start and was not paid because they did not agree that there was sufficient damage, nor did they like that after one year I got the PWC fixed without their help. Therefore, no payment. They conveniently forgot that they sent me down a one full year path with bad and changing guidance, misdirection, misunderstanding, and horrific incompetence and admitted lack of knowledge on the Home/Boat/PWC when handling my claims. The specific Reps at Progressive who were horrible to work with were Deborah Collins, Steve Hunt, and the on-site Adjuster Joe Redd. Please stay away from these people if you are unlucky to file a claim. I therefore cannot recommend Progressive, please stay away from this insurance company. For the $1500 claim they saved on my PWC, we are in the process of moving all our bundled insurance to USAA, a company that performed great in Florida after Hurricane Ian. These Progressive Reps were also insensitive to Senior Citizens and an Army Vet, and could care less about Diamond+ customers. So, Progressive, keep your $1500 from my PWC claim, I am moving thousands of $ in bundled insurance to USAA because of the Progressive Reps I named.
Poor customer service…all this company wants is your money! They will give you the run around when it comes to getting your car fixed.
Just like Geico! Raising rates for no apparent reason except "inflation!" What a ripoff!

Think twice before getting Auto insurance with this company! They will lie to you! They will tell you to use their "Snap Shot" to save money with your safe driving. They will then raise you rates by 60%. They will argue with you rudely if you try to explain the results of the down loaded information from the snap shot devise! Which were bogus and far from accurate. All the drivers in our home got the same results when we drove the SUV. The safe driver "snap shot" is only for sedans apparently!
RUN worst company... seriously I can't wait for the insurance company to put this crooks out of business. They the WORST out there.
We expect our claims adjuster to look out for us. Marcus King promised me he would seek to put fault on the driver who hit my car. He didn't bother to call the witness until a week had passed. It's common knowledge that if there is a witness, the statement must be taken as soon as possible after the incident. The witness softened his story because he didn't want to be called in to testify. Marcus King was just checking the boxes to get this claim off his desktop as soon as possible. My renewal came due a month later. Do you think my rates went up? Of course. If you cannot trust your adjuster, how can you trust the company?
Their website scrolls and scrolls and scrolls. Then, you go to see YOUR own policy and the website reads, "You don't have access to this page." Uh, it is MY insurance policy and I am logged in. Then there is the claim process - no communication whatsoever from agents. Then, the website (the one time I was able to see my policy (homeowner), the site indicated that I received four payments. I did not. They must have sent them to someone else, but you cannot contact them via email, chat, phone, whatever... to find out WHERE the heck are MY checks that you state you sent, and I cashed. I did NOT cash them. You owe me over $1,000.00 and nobody at your offices will even answer phones. I switched from Geico, and am now really, really regretting the change. I now miss the gecko. Flo - I am so disappointed in your team.
I hate to be trick into things. I left GEICO because Progressive gave me a good deal of $66 a month then pow.! They hit me with $81 for no reason. I also had the drive safe plug into my car. I did everything right now accidents no tickets. I was railroaded into this, I was like to I won't recommend progressive to anyone. And I will start looking for another insurance unless progressive give me my rate back... I can't believe they did this to me in less than 6 months

From experience they will not help you, they will do everything and I mean everything to dodge to help you, Their agents seem like bodyguards for only the best interest for them. Someone hit my truck, and the other party had insurance but was not helping to cover it, So I called my insurance for help, and they my insurance found every reason to come back to give back only 96 dollars for repairs, and the whole quote was 6k my deductible is 1995 and the accident was not my fault? So the driver that hit me their insurance did not help Nor did my own? So heartbreaking and sad, I never given them issues I always paid my bill on time. 2k a month for my insurance I have 8 vehicles insured with them. An yet they treated me like it was my fault or someone up to something? All I wanted was my insurance to be my saver because I was a Great paying customer. Platinum at that. Driver please beware of them. They are fake, I will report them to whoever it is I need to report. But they can't do this, its robbery.
Totally unprofessional, looks and sounds like rip off gang. Do not recommend. They create false reasons to increase your premiums every cycle. There are much better insurances around.
Hit by a progressive insured driver. They are ignoring me and my claim. I am forced to take legal action to get my car replaced.
Progressive just doubled and increased my Policy by 100% and I have a Clean driving record. They told me that the cost of Insuring Californians has doubled to justify their gouging of California Residents. This is Outrageous. I filed a Complaint with the California insurance Commissioner, Ricardo Lara. I hope they come down hard on this Abusive Practice. This is a Class-Action Lawsuit in the making.
While with this company my fiancé crashed his car! Our rate went up 200 dollars! I decided to finish my term and depart from them to find cheaper! Before leaving I get a call stating that I missed a payment in may-June and was insured with no payment received! I left them in October! I asked for proof that I received service with no payment! I got nothing! Per policy states no payment then coverage will lapse! They then place it on my credit! I have proof of last payment receipt for the end of that term! They have caused me migraines and I'm sick to my stomach with these issues! Nothing but heartache! I will never return my service needs to them nor do I recommend them! I even sent screenshots of payment! They put it on my credit even though I made the payment! They never got a judgment or anything to be able to affect my credit! They didn't try to resolve anything! They are bullies
Answer: It depends on your questions. In my experience you will be transferred until you get lucky with someone to help you. Look for another company.
