Im an 19 yo f, ive been driving for a year now with no accidents or tickets- to say the least my record is CLEAN. I'm also a full time college student, part time worker, I live at home but my nana offered to rent out her finished basement to me. During that conversation we some how got into car insurance, i was with progressive at the time and I said my insurance was $500. My nana's jaw dropped, she told me shes paying $275 for two cars and two people and my dad was paying $325 for two cars and three people. It was just me on the insurance and my little used car that was only $6000 because it has a dent and torn up seats from the previous owner- but i dont mind because thats an easy cover up, it drives well, has Bluetooth, it's a good beginners car. I decided to check because I did remeber getting an email saying my insurance had went down, so I looked... it had went up from $500 to a little over $765/m. Many people told me off for not noticing but I am blessed to have a wonderful great grandmother who agreed to help pay for my insurance and in return get my AA degree and help her around the house- sounds fair enough to me. I went over to her house as soon as i left and asked her if she knew, in response she said yeh but i figured it was normal. I immediately start doing quotes that night, geico, state farm, AAA. In the end I went with AAA because i could get it $75 cheaper than geico (im also aware people dont like AAA but Ill take what i can). Out of curiosity I put in a quote for progressive and they give me a $325- which is a more normal rate, still high for one car, but better than what we were paying.
I have not been silent about this, for them to scam people who are in worse positions than me is awful, especially with the money they have. When I called I was told its because im 19, and all I had to say was so your going to take more than what I can afford to give when other agency's are willing and take into account I have bigger things to pay for than car insurance. My car is more than just transportation- it gets me to work, school, picks up family and groceries, when my maternal side kicked me out it's where i slept for a week. For some people having a car is a need because other means of transportation aren't an option or as easily obtained. They need to stop with these prices flat out, because i know it isnt just me paying for coverage i havent used yet and others say its almost impossible to get your coverage.
PREMIUM RAISED BY $300 WITH NO ACCIDENTS, NO TICKETS, HOUSE ALARM, GATED COMMUNITY. GARBAGE INSURANCE COMPANY ROBBING CUSTOMERS IN MY OPINION!
They keep charging me after I paid in full. They want me to insure someone who has insurance already. Very bad don't use.
You definitely do NOT want to trust this cheap company with your car, house, or anything you own. Very rude and ungenuine staff. They quote you real cheap, but that's just because every fix they do is cheap. I'd usually say you get what you pay for, but in this case you're really being ripped off regardless how low you pay. They do not answer their phone, and when they do they spit lies.
I have to say it again, do not agree to Progressives Snapshot. I agreed, and now I wish I wouldn't have wasted my time. I had snapshot for 4 months, in that time I had a couple of hard breaks and one acceleration. At the end of the duration of having snapshot and Progressive collecting data for their research, Progressive informed me that I saved a whopping $40 for the next year. That's a savings of $3.33 a month, thank you so much progressive for the discount.
I hardly drive my vehicle as I walk to work everyday. I can only assume that most of the people who get Snapshot do not get a discount, and if so it is very small. I also have to assume that it could absolutely hurt you and they could possibly charge you more for your car insurance.
Once again people, I have to say no way to the Snapshot if you want my opinion.
Warning! Progressive will raise your rate if your vehicle has a recall. According to the "National Highway Traffic Safety Administration" this should not be the case. Sounds a little shady.
I wish I could leave a zero star. Biggest scam out there and employees have zero empathy or accountability
Progressive has to be the worst insurance I've ever dealt with having them for 10 years no claims Then my car was stolen Had to pay everything out of pocket then get reimbursed a month later Which came out to be almost $7000 Not even a week after having my car back My radiator ran out they denied it I still had ******* miles on my warranty of my tires They denied replacement of them When they were damaged from being in the desert While it was stolen And i am talking about a brand new vehicle so it wasn't like it was an old car That might have mechanical issues Please don't use this insurance company It's nothing but my A headache if you actually have to use your insurance
To all friends; I am an innocent disability person, I want to sharied My experience with this scam progressive insurance to you so you won't get cheat like i did. I had bought insurance full cover for car and home from progressive but not differance as i don't have insurance covered. I had car accident and claim to progresssive so they refused to paid. For example an accident 4 or 5 parts were broken they only paid for 1 part and the rest they will not paid for it if you want to sue them you will have to spend alot of money and time. So I am very bad in english also disability peson and poor what can I do I am looking for help but I dont know how and i didn't get my justic but got will failed this scamer and make it sink to the bottom of the sea. My car was bad now i paid insurance for noting so the sooner you get away the more you saft. I hope that you will look for a trusted insurance company not like this junk progressive.
I purchased a policy from them with an initial monthly premium of 75.02$. After 1 week they reviewed my policy and increased the premium to 88.9$ which they again increased it 98.6$ in the following week. I contacted their customer service provider and asked the reason, and their answer surprised me. I had a new NC license, although I had a three-year SC state license, which they didn't take into consideration. I tried to cancel their premium, and they fined me $269.37, which they sent to the collector. I contacted them several times to resolve the issue and agreed to pay the increased premium without fines but they didn't listened to me.
This is a mickymouse insurance co. Its not real insurance wont cover their drivers beware if you get hit by someone with this insurance. The claims adjuster said that their client has insurance but not coverage, HUH. How do you sell insurance with out coverage progressive? I'll pay for my repairs and report the lady for driving with out insurance but progressive you really surprised me how low you can go and i loved flo.
The worst insurance I have ever had. Talking to them is frustrating and pure waste of time. I filed auto theft claim and I was not helped and denied the claim. The adjusted was not helpful. Every time I asked questions they were not answered. One of my emails got completely ignored. How unprofessional. Every time I call I get bounced around from person to person. They refused to pay the claim but on top of that continued to charge me for a car I do not have. Drivers were added to my policy without any kind of consent and I was charged $725. Then they try to tell you they can't be removed. I have spent hours talking on the phone and sending emails. Finally canceled my policy. Still fighting the claim. All they want is your money.
Removed a car from my policy a little over a month ago however they cannot tell me where my $104 overpayment went to.
******Warning******** Progressive DOES provide insurance. BUT if you ever cancel, WATCH OUT! You notify them you are cancelling at the end of your current billing cycle because you will have coverage with another company starting then. You are charged for one more month for insurance which you do not pay because you have coverage with another company. They report to the credit bureau you owe them and hire a collection company to collect what amounts to a cancellation fee. Then they tell the state you have a lapse for not paying for double coverage getting your license or registration suspended which you have to pay to reinstate. Proof they know they no longer had coverage on you an you do not owe them. Happened to me and to two others I know. You will be BULLIED trying to stop you from cancelling. Then you will be PUNISHED for leaving them. ONE WAY OR ANOTHER YOU WILL PAY for ever having used them.
On 5/14/2022 I was driving on freeway when their drive rear ended my car. I had stopped for the car in front of me. My car totaled and my daughter and I suffered severe injuries. My husband put claims in with our insurance and progressive. Our insurance reached out the same day while progressive never reached out. Not once. After seven weeks, lost work, lost family time, lost school, unable to cook, unable concentrate, insomnia, multiple doctors appointments and severe pain and headaches still nothing from progressive. When I found out I needed surgery……I finally called their claims department. They asked if I wanted to fix my car! Are you kidding me! It's been 7 weeks. My insurance handled it and was picking up what it could if our medical bills. To date over four months later progressive has done nothing. Diana solis the claims rep is unhelpful and rarely responds.
Progressive is full of it. I got into an accident in nyc and had total coverage at the time. Unfortunately my vehicle was totaled. They took the vehicle from the tow lot before I could have my appraiser review it and before I even signed a release that would allow them to legally take possession of the vehicle.and to make matters worst, they then charged me as 2k deductible, and for scratches and a new battery totaling around 1k. They then low balled me with the payoff and value of my car stating it was only worth 15k when it was worth 17k minimum and took the 2k for the "deductible" which I would have used to get a new car because I need one for the line of work I am in. I would advise not to use they the claim representatives are very rude and unhelpful. And tho they promote great pricing when it comes down to actual claiming accidents and receiving a payout they're very malicious.
Was in accident with a progressive driver In Aug 15 2022 and now Sept 6th and still no one has attended to shop where my car is at then after 19 days I have to pay storage fees while I'm not at fault and they claim that policy holder has made no attempt to give statement but my police report says different. Progressive should not exist and no I will not pay storage fees and. Yes lawyers are on it as I type so beware of there policyholders. Pictures below shows my car in black and policy holder in white obviously shows at fault vehicle but yet there half Stepping so like I said be careful with progressive driver's.
I email documents three times and they can't read them. I have no problem reading them. Terrible company. Canceled them!
I spent one hour, 23 minutes and 19 seconds trying to reduce my rate. I was transferred to SEVEN DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Including being sent back and forth with the same departments. I have never had a more frustrating experience with a company. Also, after all that my questions were still not answered clearly. Find a different insurance company if you're looking at Progressive don't do it!
Not to mention their rates are ridiculous.
When someone steals from you there goes the trust, well what Progressive did amounts to THEFT and their core-value seems to justify it under "Profit -We have a responsibility to ourselves." there fine print is so fine not even they can see it. They added some random stranger to my policy withdrew money from my checking account and not a small amount of money for someone surviving paycheck to paycheck with all the rising cost of everything. So after 6 calls to customer service the person is removed they haven't refunded my money I don't see why I have to wait 12 days my bank didn't pay then in 12 days or in increments so what the guy said was credit that's not what I want and don't use the term credit what I want is a REFUND this is not resolved and when they talk about customer satisfaction from my experience it does not exist. FYI I selected 1 star only because you cannot post a review unless you do.
Answer: It depends on your questions. In my experience you will be transferred until you get lucky with someone to help you. Look for another company.
