The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.

I have been trying to use coupons for years. They NEVER EVER answer their phones when I have tried. The restuarant in my area, Yala Kol on Holland Sylvania ******* has been closed for a very long time. I told them that. I can't get rid of the my money that I invested with coupons. I tried one place but the food was not good so I did not order enough to use the coupon. I don't know how this stays in business.
DONT use this company/site. You have to pay money to buy a gift card and then there are such limitations and rules it is truly like throwing money directly into a trash can. Do anything else with your money/ points. I converted my spirit points to this site before i knew this. Basically gave my points away and paid for a very small coupon. Dont do it.
I've had $15 certificates for 3 years that I keep exchanging for other ones because the places don't accept. Every restaurant has said they contacted restaurant.com and they are still on the site. Call first to see, also the majority of the time it seems like places about to go out of businesses at any time. Only once has my food been worth the price before coupon and that place eventually stopped accepting them. I no longer have a local place within 50 miles that accepts them despite 5 still being sold on their website. I have also emailed them each time I went to a place that didn't accept them, no response ever.
The restaurants that accept the certificate/card are basically low-class, strip mall-type places - sketchy. That IS IF THEY ACCEPT the card - so many do not even though they are listed. Yes, there are popular fast food places that accept the card; however, it is SPECIFIC LOCATIONS and there is always a catch in that you HAVE TO BUY a regular-priced item/meal and then you get the discount on the second item. The discounts are LIMITED and SMALL - $10 off minimum order of $50 for example. I have $90 sitting on a card that will most likely NEVER be used. DO NOT fall for the marketing gimmicks!
I'm being inundated by spam now thanks to these $#*!s! Nobody accepts their certificates either!
Was going to Hawaii on vacation and saw the ad for restaurant.com. Curious to see if they had any coupons for the area I was visiting. They listed a restaurant, so I bought two for the same restaurant they advertised. I read the fine print which said I/we had to spend $50 to use a certificate. After doing so, we were told they were not actually affiliated with Restaurant.com and the manager laughed at us for falling for the scam. He explained they just use the names of restaurants they look up.
Maybe, just maybe, if they would reply to an email in a timely manner I'd give them 2 stars. This is just a notch above a scam
Bought discount voucher, then was told at the restaurant that they were not members and would not honor certificate. We looked like fools when the manager laughed at us. Will definitely backcharge on my credit card and let restaurants.com eat the backcharge fees. I suggest others do the same if you have been scammed.
Customer service is a joke. NEVER EVER buy from them. I fell for it and purchased some cards. Restaurant didn't want to take them. Finally they agreed to. Tried to trade one for a different card. What a joke and customer service is nonexistent.
Within 3 weeks of purchasing/attempting to use a Restaurants.com gift certificate, the restaurant told us they were no longer accepting these. I have emailed Restaurants.com to attempt to change this to another retaurant - NO RESPONSE. I have waited on hold with their customer "service" number - gave up. And they STILL continue to offer gift certificates to this restaurant. As far as I am concerned, Restaurants.com is SCAM.
This has to be the worst customer service company I have every dealt with. Spoke to one representative after waiting 48 minutes on one call then another 53 minutes on another call. Then the rep sent me an email stating that all I have to do is email her and she would call me back. This NEVER happened after emailing her 3 times. I even told her I was going to write a review or Yelp the company. I also told her to have her supervisor call me yet to no avail.
Some restaurants that are on the web site and some have said they haven't been on for months and have called the company to take them off. So very frustrating to go somewhere and be told we no longer are on the program. How do you get your money back is my concern from restaurant.com?
Would love to have some one in upper management call me to discuss the issues I have.
So you basically bought fake money. Ex I spent 11 dollars for their $100 fake crap money. Then I find a restaurant and spend a small amount of fake money say $5 for a $25 certificate for that restaurant. But the stipulation is I must spend $75 at the restaurant. So now I have $95 of fake money and I have spent 11 +5O real money. No chance of ever spending the whole $1Oo at one place. Though they market it as though it's great you can spend as little as you want at a time but you are really forced to do that. 2$ will get you a 5$ certificate to a place but you have to spend 1O minimum.
They make an offer that's too good to be true, and... it is. They're not selling gift certificates or anything like that; they're selling fake coupons that the restaurants don't take. I brought one to a nearby restaurant and they'd never heard of it, and said I'd been scammed. I don't even know why I tried to use it; it looked fake.
No answer from customer support over there at all, phone or email. I ended up having to file a chargeback. No idea why they think they can sell gift cards to random businesses they have no relationship with, but they need to stop.
I basically gave them money. Thankfully not much but this is useless.
Read the fine print before you purchase and find out if there's even any restaurants near you that take this.
Such a scam.
I've been a customer of Restaurant.com for almost 20 years and have learned two things. It's terrible, but it's workable. The key is "Caveat Emptor" = "Buyer Beware". Here's how to make it work for you.
1. Go through their available list of restaurants
2. Sort your choices by size of $$ cost
3. If you have a credit of more than the largest $$ cost, go after the largest first
4. Read CAREFULLY the use limitation (Days, Hours, Max savings $$ on Min purchase $$)
5. Review the posted menu and prices
* if 4 and 5 aren't available, pass by them
6. BEFORE you order a certificate
a. CALL the restaurant to verify their acceptance and terms
b. Buy the largest $$ cost certificate you want
7. Work you way down to a final $5 certificate cost and buy it last
If you're going to give someone else a gift voucher, ask the recipient what restaurant out of the available restaurants they like, then do the above and buy the specific restaurant certificate to give them the.pdf of it so they can use it directly.
Once you get down to $5 credit, that's all you can get. You can't (but they can) combine credits. I have 4 x $100 plus 1 x $50 plus 1 x $15 plus 5 x $5 credit. IF I CAN EVER GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE (rare), they will combine all the the less than $100 credits into the largest amount possible for this process to start over again.
Restaurant. Com offered a toothbrush deal at Christmas. YEP I should have seen this coming. But i thought it was a good deal so i bought it. A month later it is not delivered and now they say it is my problem because USPS shows a ticket that is was delivered. HMMMM wonder who got a new toothbrush for Christmas? I thought they had a 100% guarantee on items I guess that is not true for actual Items. They need to stick to gift cards and not hard items.
Bravo Pizza in West Chester, PA have not accepted your certificates in years. Neither has Bona Cafe Express in Exton, PA, Brother's Pizza in West Chester, PA.
Saucey Pizza and Calios Pizza in West Chester, PA are permanently closed.
I have $90.00 of Restaurant.com certificates. Where can I use them.
Tired of wasting gas.
Restaurant.com does not sell gift cards and it's ridiculous that they call them that. Anywhere else a gift card is a set amount of money you can spend without having to spend anymore. Restaurant.com sells coupons, and coupons are great. I love coupons, but everyone else calls a coupon a coupon, while Restaurant.com says their coupons are gift cards. If you want to buy coupons, Restaurant.com has them, but they sell them as gift cards. I think everyone would agree that in general a gift card is better than a coupon, which is why coupons are generally given away by businesses for free while gift cards are generally purchased. Restaurant.com is surely aware of the fact that people tend not to pay for coupons, so to sell them they call them gift cards. It's a business model built on deception. I wish they would just be forthcoming about what they're selling instead of trying to trick people.
Do Not Waste Your Time With This, Better Of using Your Own Money Or Eating At Home. Most Of The Restaurants Do Not Take The Credits Anymore Or At All And Most Stores Are Shut Down or Want You To Spend $50 for A $25 Credit. PLEASE DONT THINK THIS IS A FREE MEAL. Your Going To Waste your time looking for places to buy food and the list is trash.
After buying the $25 certificates, and attempting to use one, I found out that the $25 could only be used on a minimum order of $75 and only one certificate could be used. Very deceptive and never mentioned until after you have bought the certificates.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
