The overall reputation of the company is mixed, with some customers appreciating the quality and ease of use of Roku devices, particularly for streaming content. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding customer service, including difficulties with refunds, unresponsive support, and frustrating terms of service changes. Many users express dissatisfaction with the lack of assistance for technical issues and the burdensome return process. This combination of positive product experiences overshadowed by poor customer service practices suggests a need for the company to enhance its support and communication strategies to improve customer satisfaction.

Do not buy anything with the name Roku! They will bill you endlessly, even after contacting them month after month to cancel, they will keep billing you!
I've listened to MSNBC on Tunein through my iPhone and Denon receiver as well as through my Roku and TV. Every time MSNBC is ready to pause for commercial, Roku cuts off about five seconds of broadcast. Through my iPhone, never a cut off…never.
Went throught 3 devises in a year then a TV but that never turned on. Corporate wiil tell you it was an older model and you must upgrade. I suggest you avoid this company all together.
I specifically purchased a Roku TV to watch programs I love. They allowed me to ad the App. Then later disconnected it, rearranged my preferred channels, and today I cannot access my "favorites" but must scroll through hundreds of titles to find what I like each time I change to a different selection. They are controlling and making it difficult to watch anything. I no longer even like hearing the word "Roku". I selected this TV and purchased on Amazon. Bad decision. My rating is 1. Would give minus 1 if possible. They invade people's privacy.
Customer service doesn't exist unless you want to give the a credit card number. It's a free service!
My TV screen goes black. I have to sit it off and turn it on again. I've tried to get answers for 2 hours. No phone number can't get through to a rep with out a credit card number. It's sucks.
Horrible service again. Credit card Co. Called me said I owe 6.99 on 5629. I cld roku they show no charge for 6.99. Really. Very hard to understand your reps. I DO NOT OWE ANYTHING PER YOUR REP.
Still waiting for credit 7 days ago supposed to have issued 8-8-22. Really
Roku works well and easy to navigate! But getting a channel from them is bs.It doesn't work! Refund? Maybe a 50-50 would sound reasonable, but $#*! man! Why steal people's money and just like that? The guy on the phone just telling me, "sorry it doesn't work, just go to that channel main site and sign up through them. We'll refund you 2 mos worth of subscription of 24 months. Like really? So basically DO NOT SIGN UP ANY SUBSCRIPTION THROUGH ROKU..
Long story short Roku charged my card for $10.59 for NFL which I didn't purchase then it was refunded back next day they charged me again $84 for NFL and this time they did not refund it back once again I did not purchase anything pertaining to NFL now my card is in the negative by -$79.00And I have to start school shopping
He was so friendly & supportive. He understood my issue and provide info! Greg is a great resource.
I used roku for along time, specifically because they blanked out those stupid, annoying, pillow commercials. I see he bought his way in, I'm OUT!
This is the biggest rip off there is. You have to enter a credit card just to get the tv to turn on regardless of whether you have cable or not. I was the number one in line for more than an hour before I gave up and hung up after listening to the most revolting music ever devised. Guess what? You cannot access the internet with your f**** Roku TV. Throwing mine into the garbage heap. Save your money.
I like Roku, always have. I have three devices in my home. I was disappointed, however, that when I opened up the box to my new 4K Ultra Roku that it did not include an HDMI cable. This is needed to use the device! What did Roku decide that this model should not include an HDMI cable?
I've been using Roku now for a month or two after cutting my Shaw direct pkg from $130.00 to $30.00/mo leaving me with literally nothing I care to watch but keeping my account active in case I'm forced back.
I received my Roku as a gift so no cash outlay from me.
Easy setup and almost instant access to what Roku has to offer. Sadly there's not much here (for free) once you've seen the odd movie you missed over the last 20 years. The channels I can bring into Roku that carry anything I would waste watching time on, all require additional subscriptions to view. In practice it will cost me every bit as much and in fact more to cut the cord and spread my money all over the place with multiple subscriptions to find watchable TV.
I have discovered that Roku offers nothing more than the $30.00 trash pkg I left at Shaw. If I want to watch current/relevant tv I must pay numerous subscriptions to numerous providers. You know, like cable but with more, smaller bills and more guides to search for watchable TV.
Roku does do what it says it will do, which is bring free stuff no one watches and the channels you pay for to one place so it can be browsed easier. That's it!
Can you find all the shows available from every provider? No.
Roku can only provide shows its licensed to provide. There's a lot missing but Roku is happy to constantly advertise what you don't get so you can subscribe to it.
If you are tired of paying cable/satellite subscriptions and willing to watch whatever happens to be on for free, Roku is not your worst choice. But neither is reducing your cable/satellite pkg or using any one of dozens of services just like Roku.
If you think you can have anything comparable to cable/sat pkgs at a savings, this road does not lead there.
The Roku TV is my best purchase of 2021. It's an all-in-one solution for your streaming and media needs. The only thing that prevents me giving the ROKU folks 5 stars is that currently there are not a lot of channels available to purchase in Canada.
I purchased 2 devices directly from the Roku site and within 2 weeks of receiving them was having problems with them. One of them stopped working altogether. I got no help from their customer support and ended up choosing to return them and get a refund. Problem is, they require you to pay for shipping to return them. So you are out $15 for every device you return, I might as well have burned my money. Don't buy Roku, choose another company for your streaming device purchases.
Do not bother calling them unless you have a large supply of anxiolytics. You're going to need them after you speak with 1 INCOMPETENT person after another. Do not get your hopes up when they say that they are going to transfer you to " technical support ". It's a trick. They can't help either. Thanks greedy, rich owners for outsourcing.
They ripped me off for $100 by charging me for a year's subscription when I always paid monthly. I live on SS and could never afford a year's subscription. You cannot get through to them by phone, and they never answer emails. I strongly recommend that you do not use them for any streaming services. Sign up directly with the company.
If I could I would rate Roku Ultra 4k a zero. I bought my Roku 4k Ultra the end of 2020. I replaced an older Ultra.
At first everything was going good, then I lost HDCP, 4K and slowly losing sound. I have been in contact with Tech support sending screenshots and error codes. Then I was told they are turning my problem over to the engineering department and they would be in touch with me. That was over 2 months ago and still no response. I even tried to call Roku and left a voice mail with no response. I tried the chat tech support, I was told they are still investigating my problem and they would be in touch with me. I now have a new problem we are watching TV and the screen goes black. I have had it with Roku so I went through the return process. They would send me an RMA number and instructions to return it for an exchange. This took a week to get the information. The PO wants $8.80 to mail this roku. I contacted roku and asked if they would send me a shipping label. I feel this unit is defective and roku should pay shipping, none of the problems are my fault. I was told they only pay shipping on products the first 30 days. My setup is Marantz SR5015 receiver, Samsung Q90T TV and DirecTV. Last thing I received the instructions to return this roku towards the end of last week, today Monday I got an email saying I only have 3 days to return. I am not returning this roku ( I am not paying shipping on a Product that the problems are not my fault) I have just installed another manufacturer streaming that is 4K and I am very pleased.
I have been using a roku for a year or so. Recently they pushed an upgrade that I think have caused my roku to stop working - nothing to prove that though - so I contacted them. It's pretty hard to find a way to contact them with no customer support numbers listed any where. They wanted to charge me $49.99 to reactivate my account - the account that I already had and have been using for a year!
I guess they are trying to find ways to charge their customers on an annual basis
During the year that used Roku, it often stopped working and you had to reboot the system, often would have problem connecting / losing internet, even though Apple TV is sitting on the other side of the TV and no problem with internet.
For the one time price ( the false advertisement) it was worth the trouble - now that I realize they are scamming to find ways to charge their customers, 1- the product itself is not worth the trouble
2- even if it is, that level of dishonesty is enough for me to ditich the product
Watch my first Roku original. The show was good and keep me interested but commercial break ever 9 minutes of content made it impossible to stay focused. If Roku is that money sucking just give us a better review of the show and charge a reasonable fee. Will never watch another
Answer: One of the first questions asked is which language you would like to use. Usually set to English as default. I would suggest you do a factory reset if you are stuck or contact customer service.
Answer: If you don't have your Roku set up to automatically update under system settings then that would definitely help. I would try that first and see if it works. You can also go to the channel icon ie: Netflix and instead of entering hit the * and you'll get a pop up with different options, choose update and see if that helps. The icons should not be grayed out... just saw the date on this and went oh welllll...
