I signed up for a free trial on Scribd at the end of May so that I could access a powerpoint that I saw on the site. When I realize that it wasn't an actual powerpoint but just a pdf copy I canceled my account the same day (I now realize that they never sent me a record of that cancellation). On June 24th I was charged 11.99 anyways. I emailed them on June 29th explaining the issue and got no response. On July 24th my credit card was charged again. On July 25th I cancelled the account again (because it didn't show that it was cancelled) and I contacted Scribd again. This time I got confirmation of my contacts to them but no confirmation of my cancellation and no response from Scribd I tried to dispute the charge with American Express and Scribd immediately answered Amex and told them that there was no record of my first cancellation so Amex is charging me the 11.99 from June 24. I have not heard back about the second charge of 11.99.

I definitely had some trouble with this company but having paid for subscription via PayPal -- I was able to dispute the charges and PayPal got me all my money back. I don't recommend you giving this company any financial info like a credit card or banking info.

They make money by scamming people. I cancelled my membership 3 years ago but they intentionally have been taking money from my account. I demand a full refund of my £279 RIGHT NOW or I will take legal action. I have given them over three months to return my money but still no assistance and I have lost my patience now.

Their response: "While I do truly apologize, we are physically incapable of issuing anything further than 180 days (six months) out from the current date, as the limitations in place by our payment processors do not allow us to circumvent this; that is, the transactions have already been removed from our systems for actionable review."

I canceled my subcsription when I had the free trial because I didn't find what I was looking for, even though I found it on Google that it's there. It said I canceled it but I can still use it until a certain date - I did not and didn't get any email from them about ending my free trial, but I checked if it is canceled - it was. Today I found out that scribd took my money for subscription, I was surprised because I canceled it as I mentioned and I haven't noticed until now that the previous two months scribd took my money as well, I asked for a refund, but I can only get my money back for one month (You must contact us within 30 days of a charge for a refund. = that's what they say) which is quite unfair since I wasn't really using it and I'm 100% sure I canceled the subscription, so it's not my fault. Hopefully, I will get my refund and I hope that I don' lose more money for something like that

There is no way to contact their support team, I meant to ask for a refund for a service I didn't use. I'm 3 emails and 15 days in and I still haven't heard back from them. Please think twice before using there are better alternatives out there and I'd suggest the company( if they aren't fraudulent and care even a little about their customer) please get a phone helpline or messaging helpline because emailing your support team is helpless and useless.

Cancelled free subscription offer after one day and received a cancellation email. I have now just been charged. I have deleted the account after being charged but cannot now contact Customer Service without logging in to request a refund. There is an option to contact without logging in but it takes you in circles. Emailed customer service but they sent an automated response to go to the Help Centre. I want a refund and to have confirmed that no more money will be requested. Cancelled the card so the money cannot be taken but I do not want a refused direct debit on my credit rating. This is a very serious issue.

I dare you to try to find a way to talk to a human at this company. There is no number to be found. And it is so many steps to cancel, but they sure make it easy to take your money and increase your fee. It is deceptive advertising to make it appear free. People are not stupid. I have NEVER subscribed to Scrib'd, NOT even for a free trial.
So I was shocked to see my credit card being charged for a subscription.
I asked Scrib'd and they said it was used by an email address that I don't recognize.
I suspect foul play here - why would anyone steal my credit card just to subscribe to this?
Scrib'd was extremely unhelpful and refused to share any details with me.
We all need to do our part to combat credit card fraud, hence I'm sharing my unpleasant experience here.
