Ordered a replacment cdi and stator for my old polaris. Part was correct and worked well. Also shipping was pretty fast!
After 19 flawless yrs of abuse my 95 750 ZXI shelled out the #1 cylinder, and punched a hole in the case! I repaired the hole and bought the top end cyl exchange kit got it one month later, exchanged it and though not yet installed it does compression test out to 150, & 149PSI on the 2 cyl! (this hasn't even been "broken-in-yet) the cyl came already "honed" and the ports camfered! I know this is going to be again a bad $#*! ski! I will post again this summer as to how it has done! I own 6 skis 4 Kawaski's and 2 Seadoo's but this 750ZXI is by far and away my favorite one, not as fast as my Seadoo's but the funnest to ride!. My only disappointment is that I did not receive a SBT cataloged that the receipt said it included! When I leave a follow-up review I will post many photo's of the process etc... I am 63yrs old live on the lake and am still stupid on jetski's! But will definetly use SBT again! Regards, John B.

Excellent experience contacting SBT today, Zandra was knowledgeable and helpful. It's not every day that businesses treat you like you're the number one customer! Thank you, I will do business again due to people like Zandra!
Last year the timing chain in one of the motors in my Yamaha jet boat broke And I decided to exchange my core with a new one from short block technology. This was a terrible mistake the remanufactured motor that they sent me blew up within minutes from internal bearing failure and overheating, it ruined the oil pan when the rod went. They covered the motor but I had to pay shipping back to Florida that I was never reimbursed for. And I was also accused by Cliff Watkins the sales manager/warranty guy of sending them some other motor that wasn't there's. Smh! So the second motor arrived. Got it installed and it sounded like it was knocking right away too. Ran the boat for a day and sure enough it got hot and sent a rod as well. This time ruing my starter, oil pan, generator cover and other misc external parts on the motor. Again totally there fault with installing the bearing incorrectly. I had to pay for the parts that got ruined by there faulty motor but they covered the block again. I waited a few months for the 3rd motor to arrive. Cliff Watkins would tell me lies like the new motor would be all oem parts and this wouldn't happen again. This time I had A local motor builder take the motor apart and he assured me that the bearings were plastigauged by somone with no care at all and once again the motor would have blown up. And none of the parts were oem like I was promised by cliff. Do not trust sbt. The worst company I've ever dealt. My summer was ruined because of there very poor work they did on the motors they sent me. I regret doing business with them
Installed one of there junk rebuilds in my 07 txt after s timing chain failed. 12hours of run time and 2 seasons later engine locked up. Something in the center cylinder failed have not had time to investigate cut your loses and move on do not buy there product!
Case Description:
SBT and Sales Staff uses unlawful practice of using customer owned parts as a resell item. They use a customer owned part as a way to up sell customer
I sent my motor to SBT under the terms of a rebuilt motor. I was instructed and completed certain steps to complete the rebuild. I completed SBT's criteria for a rebuilt motor and even paid for full shipping round trip. SBT didn't complete the terms of the agreed service and changed there policy on rebuilding my motor verses a OEM replacement motor. This was not the agreed terms and was changed. This was confirmed by a sales manager Justin. One of the biggest concerns for any consumer is the practice of removing a part and reselling the same part to the customer. Per SBT reman engine policy whatever is not stripped off the motor is discarded. But what is really done is those parts are resold to customers as new/like new parts. SBT charged me $29.99 for my own PTO coupler. Which I have picture documentation of. I would like for SBT to refund me all extra parts they charged for and also include an itemized list (as previously requested) of all things removed off the motor. I will continue to reply to this matter until SBT is willing to stop these unethical business practices.
Sent my engine out to get it rebuilt because they didnt have one in stock. Got it back it was missing the engine mount brackets on the case and the reed blocks, i called them and they said they threw them out and they were not responsible for them and couldn't do anything for me. All they had to do was put them in the box when they shipped the motor back to me. Stay away from this company ive seen motors blow up that they have rebuilt. Will never go back
I ordered a new engine for my Seadoo, the customer service contacted me to verify i ordered the correct engine for my vehicle. The Customer service department was very helpful and polite. They answered all my questions and my shipment was prompt and on time. Love these guys, I will continue doing business with these guys for all my Seadoo needs,
Here we go again. Last year sent me 3 engines for port side none being any good! So I built a yamaha factory 1.8. The starboard side was good from sbt but only made it 45 hours and oil pressure is gone! New $900.00 oil pump has scarring in it from shavings from engine failing. Screw these guys! They have wasted my last 2 summers and 3 vacations. I'm gonna sell it to someone as is and build a new yamaha again. The quality control is absolutely horrible! I don't know how these people are still in business! It's still under warranty and I have no confidence they can fix it. It's time to cut my losses of thousands of dollars and time and do the right avenue of building a factory yamaha! SBT F$&# YOU!
This company is absolutely trash. I purchased all the parts necessary for a rebuild and had them professionally installed. Was goin through the break through on the motor when the crank went out and completely shelled my motor $1800 worth of sbt's trash products. And when they inspected it they said it was "inconclusive" meaning it was there way to Weasel out of doing anything besides covering their crank. And after hearing this I asked if there was anything they could do on a motor they said no... stay away from them better off using sticks and elmers glue. SBT you are snakes and offer $#*! products I don't know how you sleep at night Clifford... manager of SBT warranties
I priced an engine out through my automotive shop for a customers 03 yamaha 1200xlt over the phone. I called back to order the engine and the pricing was higher after I've already sold it to my customer. After being on hold multiple times and anywhere from 20-30 each phone call they said they would change the price back to dealer since it was there fault, even though I never said I was a dealer and they can not give out dealer prices over the phone. Makes no sense. Then I sent my core back in and they wanted to charge $800 for a half of the crank case that was cracked, half the price of a new engine for a crank case seem like a rip off. So after a very quick search I found that you can buy used cases for $70-$90 and new complete cases for $180. I will never buy from them and there customer service and knowledge are very poor.
I purchased a 2001 Yamaha XLT1200 with a bad connecting rod. The cost of a re-built engine was better then changing a crank and piston and cylinder, gaskets, etc... their Service personnel was so helpful made the process very simple.Top it off received my engine in 3 days... placed old engine and shipped back by the end of the week. Riding and enjoying my new engine in a great Yamaha Waverunner.
Thanks to SBT
SBT is the largest supplier of remanufactured PWC engines in the world. When you call SBT, you will immediately know that you are talking to the PWC specialists.
Unfortunately, Mr. Taylor’s presents a distorted story – as he has on Facebook, BBB, and various other places he has chosen to try to spam the company. The engine was NOT sent in properly in July, as we make clear on our website. No agreement terms were changed, only Mr. Taylor’s interpretation of them. Our policy clearly states that nothing should be left on the engine, with PTO specifically called out, as we cannot guarantee that it is not damaged during teardown (as most parts left on are because they were frozen on the engine). The disagreement with Mr. Taylor on his PTO was resolved months ago by refunding him for the refurbished PTO coupler he purchased. The PTO coupler was the only thing on his check in sheet, which we provided to him on his request. He then blamed his mechanic for additional missing parts that SBT did not receive. We tried to help Mr. Taylor find various parts that he would need from our recycle bin as he apologized for his previous flaming of SBT and was in a tough spot. 2 weeks later he then shifted the blame to SBT and gave us a constantly growing list of parts that he then said we had (although they would have been in plain sight and would have been on the check in sheet, which again, we provided Mr. Taylor). Mr. Taylor chose to selectively ignore the documentation, and continued to blame SBT and threatened to spam all forms of reviews if he didn’t get what he wanted, which is what you’re seeing here, on BBB, etc. All of Mr. Taylor’s complaints ring hollow, as he has shifted his story to us and provides limited information on his reviews in an attempt to make it appear like SBT has done nothing to help him. The PTO dispute was resolved in Mr. Taylor’s favor, he was charged for no other parts, SBT has tried to help him find parts, and all we have gotten is a growing list of demands and threats. We have informed Mr. Taylor that we will not be providing his list of free parts that he is demanding in exchange for him not blasting us on all the review forums he can find.
