I purchased a free trial in order to find some information on a specific person I know well. The site advertises thorough "deep diving" searches that will shock you by the information they will present to you. Spokeo's "deep diving searches" couldn't even find the last 2 addresses this person was registered at. Nor could they even find their Facebook page which you can find from a SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH. Total waste of time, Spokeo is stealing consumer's money.
I used their service once, paid 0.95$ with PayPal, it was a month ago. Yesterday, I transfered funds to my debit card (connected with PayPal) and I see Spokeo immediately charged me 29.95$! Lol
I went to PayPal and mark the transaction as Unauthorized transaction because I have not set up their subscription/trial or whatever. I did not approve the transaction or anything, it was set up as Automatic payment! Beware of that!
No idea if anyone else managed to refund the charged amount, but I did. I contacted PayPal and Spokeo Customer Care that I want the refund of the amount as I did not approve it and I'm not planing to use their service. PayPal managed to hold the funds before investigating the case.
I kept contacting their Customer Care to resolve the case because PayPal agent told me that they have to refund via claim, there is no need to wait 10 or 14 days as some of the live agents said. I chatted with them for hours and I want to thank supervisor Gary, agents: Daniel, Monte, Valerie, Susana, Mallory, Melissa M, Yaritza, Nina, Carmen and many others. But special thanks to Joshua, agent id:1617.
They refund me 29.95$! Their Customer Care is awesome, but beware to react on time, otherwise you lose the case.

I looked up people I know to see how accurate this is. I'd give it 0/10.
Addresses were ALL outdated to when they were living with their parents at least 4-10 years ago.
Email was often 10+ years old and belonging to another household member.
Financial information, when actually available, was for the household, a guess, for the wrong person, or just wrong. It doesn't offer ANY court or criminal records, no jobs, no social media that's actually correct.
What DOES it tell you? Their full name, family members, old addresses, and phone number. Sometimes e-mail, but rarely accurate.
You know, everything that you can find for free online.
My ex hasn't lived with his dad in 6+ years, but Spokeo thinks that he does. No mention of living with his mom for 2 years.
This service is worth less than 1 star.

I used spokeo for a job I had back in 2019. I canceled in October of 2019 (have email proof that it was supposed to be processed), and yet after a few months they started charging me $14.95 a month again. Called customer service to cancel AGAIN and they promised my account was terminated. Was going through my back account now in October 2023 and saw they have been charging me $14.95 four times a year since I called and canceled for the second time. When I called customer service, they said they could only refund me for the past 12 months, HALF of what I am owed. Asked to speak with a manager and the manager proceeded to hang up on me. DO NOT USE THIS, they are frauds and are scamming people. If you do use this for some reason, CALL immediately and cancel because otherwise they will continue to charge you.

There are many sites that one can join in to do background searches. This site not only proved to provide excellent background information, but the reason I'm writing this review was a young lady named Brianna in customer service, it went out of her way to clear up some charges give me some credits. Used their service to look up 1 number that was harrassing my daughter... the number came back with a fake name and now other usable info... Was also not aware that I would start a $30 a month subscription after 7 days! Contacted them within a few hours of seeing the charge come through and was told I could only get a refund for $11.

I bought a one time phone number look up of a person that I was making a purchase from out of state, with Spokeo. The fee of.95 cents was supposed to be a one time charged to my PayPal account, or so I thought. PayPal emailed me that I had been charged $29.95 for a membership fee, that I had not purchased or signed up for. After sending an email to Spokeo regarding this charge, and this unsolicited sign up, they only refunded $11.98, keeping the difference. What a scam! I would NOT recommend doing business with them!

On Sept 6,2023, I searched for someone using Spokeo. My understanding was that a one time charge of $0.95 would be debited from my checking account. There was NO "fine print" regarding membership or any further charges to my banking account. Lo and behold, 7 days later I was hit with a $29.95 debit from my account! I was forced to change my bank account and asked for a refund from Spokeo customer service. The reply was "we can't help you because you got your bank involved! THEY DID NOT MAKE IT OBVIOUS THAT I WAS JOINING A MEMBERSHIP! They willfully prey on consumers and make it difficult to retrieve their stolen funds by claiming they can no longer find the account! Who needs to look up 100 people per month unless you have mental problems. I wanted to look up one address and was in turn secretly charged without authorization or notification twice more for $30 per

I recently had a problem pertaining to billing with my Spokeo account, (which was totally my mistake) and after several failed attempts at trying to resolve the issue myself I finally decided to call and speak to a customer service representative. The rep that assisted my calls name was Shane M. I was surprised at how helpful and eager to assist he was. Everyone knows call representatives are hit or miss. Some good, some bad, and everywhere in between but he was probably the most helpful I've ever been lined up with. He answered every one of my questions and was able to get to the root of the problem in no time. He was the most respectful individual and very understanding. I bet the business is thrilled to have him on their team and can't thank him enough for all his help. Made my day that seemed to be going rough seem a lot easier honestly. This company's practices are nothing short of deceitful. My encounter with Spokeo began innocently enough with a Google search, where they enticingly advertised "free" phone searches (as shown in Image A). However, what followed on the next webpage was a far cry from the promised freedom, as I was unexpectedly charged $0.95 for the search (as displayed in Image B).
In my pursuit of a simple phone lookup, I reluctantly decided to pay the nominal fee. Yet, nowhere in the initial two web pages (A & B) did Spokeo make it explicitly clear that a mandatory enrollment in their membership trial was a prerequisite for accessing this supposedly "free" phone search. Their cunning advertising tactics succeeded in tricking me into believing that the $0.95 charge marked the end of my interaction with the company.
However, as I progressed to the third page to complete the payment, a minuscule note, artfully hidden in tiny font, eluded my attention, thanks to their deliberate use of inconspicuous small print. The clause read, "Cancel anytime. After your 7-day free trial, you will be billed $29.95 per month," a detail I regrettably overlooked at the time.
To my dismay, I received a notification that the so-called "free trial" had concluded, and Spokeo was now extracting $29.95 from my account. On the same day, I reached out to both PayPal and Spokeo, seeking to dispute this unjust charge, only to face rejection days later.
I have utilized their service solely for a self-test, with no intention of fostering any form of business relationship with this disingenuous entity. I demand a refund of my hard-earned money, as my encounter with Spokeo has left me deceived and incensed.

I was looking for some contact information and Spokeo came up as a way to find it. It said I could get a name, address, possibly a phone number, etc. I thought, for only 95 cents, it would be worth a shot. I put in what info I had, my cc number, etc. and gave it a whirl. It found nothing except a social media profile that no longer existed. But hey, it was less than a buck right? No big deal, I'll continue my search another way.
Eight days later I see a charge on my credit card for 29.95. Apparently if you use their so-called service you're automatically signing up for a subscription. Was it clear that would happen? No, not at all. It must have been somewhere in fine print.
I found Spokeo's customer service number, called them, and asked them to cancel the charge. The lady I spoke to was very nice, but she said, we'll be glad to give you a refund for $11.26 (or something less than half the bogus charge.) and was trying to end the call with 'have a nice...' but I jumped in with
"not so fast... The charge is 29.95, and you're going to give me a full refund". So she put me on hold so she could "speak to her manager" (where I thought the line was probably going to get disconnected based on their less-than-desirable business practices) but she came back on, said I would get a full refund and an email stating that I wouldn't be charged for this again. I did get the email, and I used it with my CC company because they allow me block charges from a specific vendor. I won't use their site again, but if a random charge comes up in the future for whatever reason, it won't succeed.

This company is a scam operation. Avoid at all costs! I entered a search query, which takes you through an impressive 'search' graphic, reporting that it is searching "Billions" of files and that it has found thousands or results related to your query. It then charges you a 'Special Price' to give you the results of your search. Firstly, the search produces NOTHING in relation to your query, and, way more importantly, you later discover that you have been subscribed to a MONTHLY subscription plan of $29.95, that they ensnare you into in the small print, and never email or contact confirming your subscription. In fact, unless you check your Bank Account, you'd never know you're being scammed every Month for it. Disgusting, disgraceful tactics that net them millions. They know they're disgusting and disgraceful, but all the time they collect money from unsuspecting victims, they'll continue.

I was searching for a family member who moved away yeas ago. Found then on a free website, but had the old phone number. I paid Spokeo and tried to search for more information and they could not even find him. Nothing,-- not even an old address or phone number. Like he never existed...Don't waste your money.

I was doing a reverse lookup on a phone number and I ended up on spokeo website. It said you could pay $1.95 for a one time search. I was doing this on my phone and paid through venmo. What I didn't know was that you are buying into a subscription and you only have so many days to cancel it? It's trickery really, I don't remember clicking a box that said that I agreed to this subscription. I called and they canceled the subscription but in reality if they are going to charge you they should send out a notice that you will be charged a subscription fee if you don't cancel by a certain date. Don't offer something for $1.95 if it really isn't. If just a 1,000 people get sucked into this for one month (before they realize and cancel) that's a gain to them of $30K

Answer: Watch for the $20 charge at the end of the month. They say a person is out, then the charge comes a month later. Had to cancel my card and get new # to keep them out of my wallet.
Answer: Three alternatives: 1) Logon with you old Spokeo account and contact customer support. 2) If you can't remember your old logon, 2.1) try a google search to find Spokeo customer service link or telephone number. 2.2) Spokeo has notes on some reviews. Maybe they have included their support number or link? 3) Call Visa and ask them to kill the Spokeo charges to your Visa account.
Answer: Not that I know of but they're slick the moment you put your card info in it saves and if you use something that takes payment they'll charge the card without asking.

Answer: I cancelled Spokeo service due to selling me misinformation or inaccurate information. I got this in writing from David at Spokeo. They are good about sending a letter about we are sorry about not meeting your expectations. Our terms of use states we can do this blah blah blah. After I cancelled this subscription and got this in writing from David, I got a new debit card from my bank. Spokeo found the NEW CARD and charged it. I took the problem to my bank and got a credit. Be very careful of these people, watch your bank statements.
