I was very disappointed today after my visit to Talbots at Desert Hills Premium Outlet. I went to return an item I had purchased online. Even though I had the receipt they did not know how to make a refund and said they could not return my money. Not only were the 2 ladies in the store extremely rude to me. They both obviously had no clue about customer service.
I then started to look around the store a bit. I asked them if they had any tunics. Neither one knew what a tunic was and they said they do not sell tunics...
Then I saw some tshirts that were kind of long and they were advertised for a good price. There was a huge sign saying $ 12.99. When they rang it up they wanted to charge me double of the adverstised price per shirt. I was going to buy 3. They did not honor the price of the sign saying that they have to charge whatever the computer says and that they are not able to make any changes to the price. They did not even say they were sorry for the mistake.
Needless to say I left the store without making a purchase. I will not be returning to the Talbots at Desert Hills Premium Outlet.
Talbots lost a great customer due to rude staff.

I live in Alberta, Canada. Received unaddressed coupon/flyer at my Canadian address for 25% off plus free shipping to use by oct 1. Went online and order two sweaters and a scarf. Not once did it advise it was in US currency, that it would be shipped out of the US or that I would be responsible for any customs/duty/excise taxes. Yesterday I received a bill from FedEx for $44 in customs and taxes. Called Talbot's customer line on my email receipt and that was when I learned my bill was also in USD! She went on and on that it says all this on the invoice and web site (it does not, i had my paperwork in front of me!) and then when she turned around and said I could return the items to my Canadian Talbots and they would reimburse the FedEx bill or Talbot's would send a cheque, I was shocked. She explained that is what others have done in my situation... so wait... it is clearly outlined in writing and yet you have a procedure in place for when this happens, and other Canadians have called. Deceptive! I called my local Canadian Talbots and confirmed that I'm not the only one that has been deceived. In the end, what I thought was a bill for $142 has turned into $227.67 plus my time. Will never ever order from this company again.

Sad to see Talbots decline
September 13, 2017

I have shopped at talbots for years but very sad in recent months to see such cheap shoddy clothes they are trying to pass off as classic. Talbots has lost there ability to excite the buyer with style and selection. I stopped by today hoping to buy something with my 15% of entire purchase. NO SUCH LUCK. The selection was horrible. Cheap fabric- dull colors- looked like a discount store. Sorry Talbots but please find people who know what they are doing. What is with all the silly brass buttons on sweaters and pants. So tacky and cheap. Pineapple print pants - really! Who do you think is going to buy this crap. Its embarssing to say the least. Get your act together.

I have shopped at Talbots's for years and have spent a decent amount of money there over the years, including this year. The sales associates are plain rude when you are making returns though. Today I went in the Dewitt, NY store and when the sales associate saw I had a return, she did not saw hello, had a dirty look on her face, and did not talk to me the entire time or make eye contact. Their all happy and helpful when you're buying something but rude and unprofessional when returns are made.

I placed an order on line and received e-mail confirming receipt of order. They informed the item was in stock in the iScardsdale, NY store and they would be sending another e-mail to let me know when it was ready to be picked-up. Never received an e-mail. Called the store several times but nobody answer.
Called the number in the back of my talbots card and I was told they were placing a new order that I should be receiving by July 11th. I called again today and I was told
"sorry is no longer available". They should have told me from the beginning and that would save me a lot of time that I could use to look for a similar item at another company.
That shows how much consideration they have for their clients! No more talbots!...

For years I have ordered the ballerina neck Pima Shirts until this last year, after more then 6-7 years they changed their cut on the shirt to accommodate the over weight women, it used to have an hour glass cut but since American's are getting heavier the cut is now straight and a bit longer to allow for no waist lines and fatter guts. Sad because I loved this shirt for years but wasted a lot of money with my usual order last year. Never again, sorry Talbots you lost another customer.

I succumbed to a catalogue offer of 25% off on the first order. The 5 items arrived. The clothing was very poor made... necklines did not lay flat, fabric listed as Madras was a cheap cotton blend, definitely not Madras. The pants were an awkward length in between ankle pants and cropped lengths and baggy... not the slim profile shown in the catalogue. And the dress! I don't know what they did in the catalogue, but in reality it fit like a potato sack. The fabrics were consistently cheap. I could find better quality at a discount store for 1/3 the price. Never again!

Not the same Talbots
April 28, 2017

What happened to the designers? The brand used to have classic, timeless, classy clothes that fit multiple body types and ages. Now everything looks cheap and tacky.
Bring back the former designers who understood women and their bodies.

Look around, Talbots!
September 6, 2016

Have you noticed / are you aware -- that the female population is changing.? There are growing numbers of elderly women who search fruitlessly for clothing that fits their shorter, wider bodies. Your new magazine that just arrived shows, cover-to-cover, tall, very slim, young ladies who, of course, look perfect in your beautiful garments... but isn't that an age-group that is diminishing? If you'd visit one of the hundreds of assisted living/senior residences and observe the women there, you'd realize how unlikely any woman in this category is likely to wear your garments. THEY DON'T FIT! Loving family members bring some of your lovely clothes to these women, only to return them later, when they find that they don't fit (up, down, or around). Well, I think you get the point. I hope you'll add a new "section" to your apparel inventory to include items for those of us who have to keep wearing the same "old" now shrunken and shabby things over and over because we can't find anything new that fits.

I returned a spring cardigan that developed a hole in the collar after two wearings. The salesperson was awful. She kept looking at the hole in the sweater. I guess she might have thought I did it. All I wanted was the same sweater without a hole in it. Actually, I have a friend who had the same issue with her cardigan. I bought the same sweater again because I like it but I do not appreciate the way I was treated. Then I was given a long lecture that I should not have the sweater dry cleaned. Really? My dry cleaners does not use chemicals. All of my clothes are either hand washed or dry cleaned. I expect better communication from Talbots.

I placed an order for a gift card on Talbots.com. I needed it sent to me before the next day because we were meeting with the recipient and wanted to have it in hand along with a thank you card.

There was a glitch on their website and I had to call several times to get this straightened out, before I finally decided to cancel my order, and shop elsewhere.

After requesting to speak to a supervisor, she quickly apologized for the mistake and inconvenience and issued a refund. Ten minutes later one of the customer service rep called me and asked for the address of the person that the gift was going to as well as my own. They wanted to send both her and me a gift card as a way of apologizing. I was so surprised at the generous offer that I went to the brick and mortar store to purchase the gift card for my friend, and was more surprised when a week later I received a wonderful gift card in the mail.

Super customer service.;-)

After 35 years of doing business, I have spent the last 3 months trying to get an erroneous charge removed from my statement. I placed an order for 5 items online - 1 was out of stock. 3 didn't fit or were not attractive and were returned. One never arrived - and I reported the lost shipment. Months later after multiple attempts to get the problem corrected I've run out of patience. The bank blames the store, store blames the bank. I can see online that all items are returned and yet I still have a bill for 116.30 WHAT A MESS Cancel my account

Talbots issues its credit card through Comenity Bank which has horrible reviews all over the internet. I was a few days late (for the first time) on a $44.00 bill and was charged a late fee of $25.00 + $1.00 interest.
Have cancelled my credit card with them

Try this one
April 26, 2011

Try this one. It's an oldie but they have stepped it up over the years and are now, well fashionable. Go to the ISpy section and click choose your look. It's pretty easy to navigate. Free shipping for online purchases. Look for coupons. It's usually cheaper than the store unless they are closeouts.
