Amazing customer service. My wife bought me these bags on Christmas but they looked pretty small on my Vulcan 1500 because she doesn't know much about motorcycles. I requested Vikings to exchange saddlebags even though I was a little over the warranty period but they still understood my situation and offered me to exchange saddlebags. Exchange process was really smooth and quick. Second order was delivered just in 3 days. Can't thank enough guys at customer service for getting this sorted. Keep up the good work and keep bringing the great quality products. Now i'm just looking for a decent sissy bar and then I will definitely order a sissy bar bag from them too.
Fell in love with these bags when I first saw them mounted on my buddy's bike. They looked really good. I went for lamellar bags and maaaaan they look good on my Fatboy. I wanted big bags but not like those stretched baggers. These bags are pretty roomy, they're hard and you can secure your stuff with a key lock on the top too. The hardwaer is pretty heavey duty too. Don't think so i'm gonna change them any time soon. Would definitely recommend them.
Finding saddlebags for sportster was not easy. I've tried a few diffrent brands befor buying Viking bags and none of them really satisfied me. They were either too small or those soft saggy ones which just look ugly on bike. But these lamellar bags just look perfect on my sportster. They have cutout for shock and pretty rigid body. Can't believe in this price you get the mounting hardware and even the relocation kit for blinkers free. JUST AMAZING products and price. You cannot get anything better in this price. To me I think they're even better than Harley ones which cost like $1000 or even more. Good job Viking.
Loving these saddlebags on my super glide. One of the best things are the quick release snaps under the straps cos I don't have to undo the whole buckle belt thing. My bags were stolen outside a motel cos someone just cut throw over straps and took them so this time I mounted these bags with their quick disconnect brackets which are pretty heavy duty and come with a key lock too. Really easy to take the bags off for cleaning the bike, just need to twist the key on brackets and take the bags off. A lot of people have asked me where did I buy these bags and get a lot of compliments too so they definitely look good. Can't be happier!
I bought Ultimate shape saddlebags for my '05 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100. I must say the bags are better than I was expecting. The are rigid and the round tear drop shape just looks perfect on my Sabre. I've been using these bags for more than 6 months and they still look good as new. I've rode through heavy rains without getting a single raindrop inside the bags thanks to velcro on sides of the lid. You cannot beat the price, at least I could find anything better than these. Last pair I bought from saddlemen only lasted for a couple of months, wish I had chosen Viking Bags before.
I bought saddlebags for my Honda VTX 1800 from Viking Bags the end of December 2016 they advertise weather resistant not the case you get caught in the rain they leak bad no weather seal. I contacted Viking bags with the issue they wanted pictures then videos that was ok with me but every time they wanted more then more they have danced all around the issue. So now they send me new locks to install on the new bags which has nothing to do with water coming in around the outer edge of the bags. I have bought bags from them in the past with no problems but never again I don't have 300.00 to give to a company that don't stand good for what they sell.
I have spent a lot of time researching saddlebags (soft and hard) both before and after purchasing Viking bags. I am very confident that I could not find a better product for the money.
As for the bags themselves, I have ridden and parked in driving rain without so much as a drop of water getting in the bags. I haven't tested the hardbags in the rain yet, but I can't imagine the experience will be any different.
As for customer service, I have dealt with them several times over the years. I have had only one issue with the many bags I have owned (a buckle broke after 6 months, but was still functional) and they replaced the defective piece. I see a lot of complaints on some websites, but the most negative thing I can say is that once I dealt with a fairly new employee who wasn't as knowledgeable about some product specifics; however he didn't give up and did manage to find the answer. Maybe I'm just more patient than the average person, but no one who knows me would give me such a compliment. They do not offer free shipping in the event you do not like a product; however they have several stores, so ship it to the closest one to save a buck or two.
As for installation, these are universal bags folks. Just because they say they fit a specific model of bike means it will fit in the area designated for a saddlebag... assuming you have not made any alterations to the bike (I can't leave my alone without doing something to it every 6 months) and you place the bag so there is appropriate clearance from the exhaust AND within the confines of the mounting hardware. I learned the hard way that you may need a little extra clearance if you have a passenger! To the bag's credit, it was laying flat against the pipe for several hours and melted the leather as well as warped the internal floor material, but it never actually breached the bag! Have someone sit on the back as you select a mounting height.
Lastly, if you have a detachable sissy bar and you want a detachable Viking bag as well (the brackets are very solid and easy to use) be aware that there will be several inches of space between the fender rail and the bag - think BMW-style bags. That kind of drove me crazy as I like bag close to the bike, so I'm now going with a permanent mount system. The trade off is the space as much more expensive bags ($1000 Harley for example) mount flush due to internal hardware... which takes up lots of usable space. You can't beat the capacity of the Viking bag.
I give them a 4+ because I have to do everything online. I would like to see the products in a bike store (other than at a rally or show); however the low overhead keeps their prices down, so it's hard to complain too much.
Ordered a windshield bag (WIN-280-PL). First off, it has a funky smell to it, which I ASSUME will wear off in time. Comes, perhaps from how its made? BUT the biggest complaint is the size or rather the lack of! The bags listed size on their site is 10.5" x 6.5" x 3", and yet, no matter how I measure it, the readings I get are, 9.75" x 5.375" x 2.75" (or if you include the flap, it is 3"). No way is the bag the size it is supposed to be! I would have no problem if the measurements were plus or minus. 250", but this is just ridiculous! Therefore, I can't recommend Viking Bags to any of my friends. It's a shame as the quality seems to be very good. However, if you don't mind a smell that hopefully goes away eventually and a bag that is not as large as you paid for, then Viking Bags is your best bet.
I recently bought some bags for my shadow aero. Upon arrival (3 days time) i was really impressed to see that they offered both the hardmount kit and the throwover. Items which are often extras with other companies. I called up the shop just to run through all the things i got and make sure. The guy on the phone was respectful and knew the bags inside out. He walked me through the installation which tells me their employees also do hands on work rather then just online. The quality of the bags was awesome, really well made, additional metal frame. I really felt as if i underpaid for the quality of items that i got and in the timeframe that i got it in. I will be recommending Viking to any riders i encounter on the road that ask about the bags. Great work guys! Keep it up!
I have never had to go so far as reporting a company to the Better Business Bureau before, but I felt I had to with Viking Bags. Their website was misleading and their customer service representative clearly did not care about the issue. They had an opportunity to grab a lifetime customer by simply owning their mistake and going a little extra to make up for it. They missed the opportunity. It's also important to note that I've found multiple reviews with this same issue. It is not isolated.
The Following is the complaint I filed:
"YOUR COMPLAINT:
I purchased a motorcycle saddlebag from VikingBags.com. The website clearly advertised the product as lockable, with a chart that listed features, and under the "Key Lockable" column, states: "yes." On the page advertising the product, there is a demonstration video where a salesperson names the model in question, and is then observed inserting a key into a built-in locking mechanism and unlocking the saddlebag. The Product arrived with no built-in locking mechanism but instead an anchor for a non-included padlock, which would be unsightly and can be damaging to the product. When I contacted VikingBags, they denied that their advertising was at fault because it was lockable by padlock. The employee refused to allow me to speak with his supervisor, and he kept saying "this is rarely an issue." Once is too often for misleading advertising. I was offered an exchange for the correct item, however when I informed him that I live an hour away from the nearest UPS drop-off and would also need a new odd-sized shipping box because their repeatedly-used shipping box was too damaged to reuse, taking a day or more of my time, the employee offered no recourse or business compensation for my time/inconvenience and gas money at all. When I said that I had bought the bag specifically for a trip the next day, he said I could use the incorrect bags for my trip, but would have to purchase both sets if I didn't return them in new condition. Considering their misleading advertising forced me into that position, having to pay for both sets of bags is ridiculous. I repeatedly stated this and the employee offered no recourse. When I asked if I could have confirmation that the problem with the advertising would be addressed, the employee repeatedly refused. The fact that he told me that this has happened in the past indicates to me that they have no intention of addressing the problem.
YOUR DESIRED RESOLUTION:
Viking Bags should clearly state on all applicable products whether it is lockable via a built-in locking mechanism or lockable via a padlock, which is not included. Viking Bags should not include advertising videos showing a person unlocking a built-in mechanism if the advertised product has no such mechanism. Viking Bags should also offer some form of reasonable business compensation for customers' lost time/money/gross disruption when Viking Bags are at fault in an issue."
Their hard bags are hard to beat when it comes to the price. It's under $500 for saddlebags that lock and have mounting hardware included. You can purchase a quick disconnect system from them as well so you can remove the bags when you don't need them. Great deal IMO.
I had an issue on the hard bags that I bought. They were such a hassle to install but the nice guys at their customer service department was able to guide me through it. Just beware that their bags are great, but the installation is fairly difficult.
Installed my bags same day i received them and was even able to go out for a short ride with them. These bags are really nice looking and built nicely too. I love the extra pocket my bag came with inside which is useful for my wallet, phone and extra keys i don't need dangling from my pants. Lastly, You cannot go wrong with their prices, they are rock bottom cheap, there is nobody out there selling anything better for these prices. Cant wait to get my hands on a tool bags and a swing arm bag next, thanks Viking Bags.
For 200 bucks and locking key... it doesn't get any better. They also have the nice included mounting hardware which is very convenient. It' not a bad deal at all. I highly recommend them because of the price. I paid a little under 200 with shipping to me... you just can't beat that.
I spoke with a John online while i was narrowing down my choices. We was fast, nice and gave me a lot of input. I bought the warrior bags with a cutout for my fatbob. The bike looks great! Simple mounting hardware that is nice and stable. Bags have an extreme eye to detail. No doubt in my mind that the bags will be lasting me several years. They also had a pretty nice selection of sissy bar bags that i will be looking into soon.
Sure this company doesn't have the best reputation but i was referred to them by another member of my honda forum. They sell solid high quality bags for a good discount. They're not the highest quality but they're much better than anything in the similar price range. I would say that they're the best compromise deal out. If you purchase your own brackets ( much better off doing that cuz their mounting hardware isn't great) you'll be a very happy camper like me!
Found viking bags through HDFORUMS, they offered me a really good coupon for 15% even if the current promotion was only for 11%. I couldnt pass up their already low prices. Ive heard mixed reviews on them so i decided to take a shot seems like people love them or hate them. The Bags i got were GORGEOUS! My vulcan classic has not looked better, the quality of the bags makes you think youve just spent triple of what you paid. I bought the quick disconnect system for my bags and the sleek design with a key lock was a deal breaker for me. Only department which isn't 5*s to me, is their shipping department. It took about a week and half to get here.
The hard saddlebags are the best deal on the market right now. I got them for almost 400 shipped. They come with keys and hardware, no where else is going to have this build qualiuty for the same price. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I didn't deal with their customer service so i can't really comment on that but I think you should give them a chance. The quick release brackets will help the installation a lot, I would recommend springing for em.
The folks at viking sure know how to do business. I recently bought a pair of hardbags for my wifes dyna. Gorgeous bags when we initially called in they were nice, formal and informative. They answered all my questions and processed the order for me. I didnt request the relocation kit because i had already done work on my bike to where i did not think i would need it. Come to find out i need it. Called them back and they did not hesitate to get the kit out in the mail for me. Kit showed up two days later. Really great service! Im extremely glad witht the purchase
First off I am beyond greatful for viking bags making such a durable product. I know that Viking Bags doesn't have the greatest reputation for their customer service, but they're working on that as explained by one of their reps. Their product however, are still TOP NOTCH. On January 19th, Riding home from work, i was hit by an distracted driver. At 30mph this was no small feat... Their bags ended up saving my leg from getting flattened by my bike and also saved a considerable damage on my bike as well. The bag absorbed all the damage. Because of that Viking Bags has won me over for life. Thank a lot viking bags!
Answer: Because I'm a cheap skate. You get what you pay for.
Answer: There is no designed kit for that installation. But its simple to work around. All you need is a longer bolt that can sustain our qds hardware and the sissy bar all together which can be found at their local hardware store
