Placed a order on the first of june and its now the end of july and have not been notified about anything about my order... would not use this site EVER
My daughter purchased two items online. It's been two months and neither purchase has been received. Storenvy does not deal with issues or disputes, and the sellers cannot be tracked.
Tried to run a shop on Storenvy and the few sales I had, half of them were pains in the $#*! because of Storenvy's jacked up system. First off, Storenvy didn't even notify me of any transactions, even though I was checking my store frequently. All of a sudden out of nowhere sales were added to my shop that were apparently placed *weeks, or *over a month prior in one case without any notification to me. So all of a sudden in the middle of my busiest season I have this large order which is already a month old and it suddently appeared in my production queue. Tech support had no explanation for it. Big surprise. The buyer understandably didn't want to wait for their items, so I had to refund them. I closed my shop almost a year ago now and yet Storenvy STILL uses my photos of my designs to promote their janky site! I don't sell there anymore and I am willing to bet most of the products featured in their ads are from stores that had enough of their BS and no longer sell there anymore either. 95% of the stuff being sold on storenvy is imported garbage marked up from aliexpress. They do nothing to curate the quality of their site, help their customers (sellers) or improve glitches.
I've had my shop open since 2013, staff is unhelpful, no traffic whatsoever, NO SALES at all even with sales etc... i did better on etsy. Toooooo many changes to the site i do not like the idea of giving my social security and personal life details to a third party PayPal doesnt ask for that!
If you want to deactivate your store you cannot do it yourself the storenvy staff has to do it themselves which is very inconvenient
Also when other vendors started complaining on their YouTube channel Storenvy removed all the complaints from their videos that looks very shady from my point of view
And from other reviews on here they do ignore your FB post and tweets...
Cons:
- You cannot disable international shipping.
- All new stores are forced to enroll in the marketplace.
- You cannot activate your shop until you sign up for a third party payment vendor called stripe. Stripe is insecure. There have been rampant reports of shops encountering charge back after charge back from invalid international sales. This is most likely because settings out of the box within Striped disable basic credit processing security checks like zip code matching and a CVC Check. Again, these are disabled by default.
- No dedicated support phone number or email address. You are asked tweet at them on twitter.
- In the event of a charge back, or even a refund, your fees are not credited to your account automatically. You actually have to open a support transaction in order to get your money back.
- Marketplace traffic volume is low.
- The site appears to lag when indexing new items in your storefront. Sometimes for days on end. This negatively impacts your search performance.
- Site does not appear to run google ads for marketplace stores, something other marketplaces do for free.
Overall, the performance of the site, features provided, and level of service do not justify the 10% commision they demand. I would suggest looking elsewhere.
So disheartened to see so many bad ratings for Storenvy on this site. If you're reading this, keep in mind that a lot of times only people who had a bad experience with something would take their time and jeopardize it. These bad ratings don't justify the majority of customers' experiences on Storenvy (and I am speaking from personal experience!).
Used to be a seller for about a year, experienced a lot of horrible changes that storenvy made recently, from being forced to use Stripe even though it only support a handful of countries, to unnecessary warning email about how I violated their rule just by asking my buyer to pay with paypal because I can't process order that got through stripe. Have left the site for good to make store in other Ecommerce. Definitely not going to recommend it to anyone.
I use store envy to shop, never had a problem with any purchase I have made. It is nice to have a totally hand made place to shop not that etsy sold out.
You have to put in work to make it work. Most of my products are custom products. It is a nice free webpage www.ohiofitnessgarage.com
I want to clarify that the store on Storenvy is called ShadowTown and my experience with that store was not good. I never did get any response from ShadowTown, nor did PayPal. Storenvy is responsible for non existent customer service, not the fact that one of their store owners could be a scam. PayPal refunded my purchase money after I put in a claim.
I am a shop owner on Storenvy and have made several purchases from other Storenvy shops as well. I absolutely LOVE Storenvy! I have tried selling on other sites such as Zibbet, and Etsy and just don't care for them or all of their fees. Storenvy is completely free to use except for sales made through their Marketplace (which you aren't even required to keep, and those are sales you wouldn't get without their help anyway). Storenvy is very user friendly both for the shop owner and buyer and I would recommend it to anyone!
I've had an absolutely positive experience in both shopping at Storenvy and being a shop owner on Storenvy. I love the range of products I've been able to purchase and all the shop owners in my experience have been friendly, helpful, and genuinely appreciative of my business. As a shop owner, I find that Storenvy wants my shop to succeed and doesn't just consider me a number on a report somewhere. I feel like my shop is my own and I appreciate their efforts to grow their platform even better as time moves on.
I am currently and have been a seller on Storenvy since May 2014. When started I LOVED it, (and I still do) But I will say after the January 2015 changes I did highly considered finding a new platform. (I'm glad I didn't)
The fees- I do not have a problem with the 10% marketplace if they bring me a sale, but I found on a handful of occasions that Storenvy did take 10% out of my sales from people I actually knew and I know clicked on a personal link I provided, that is why I have taken myself out of the marketplace. All sales that I drive myself with my marketing are FEE FREE (other than PayPal fees) and that is seriously amazing! I get a cusomizable, peofesional looking website, literally for free.
The support- i do with there was a phone call number rather than only email (Storenvy is always improving and I hope that's coming soon) because once you write an email, it takes a couple days for them to reply, then you reply back and it takes another couple days to reply. (Which is reasonable; people are busy, but it is inconvenient)
Glitches - literally they happen, on ALL website / store platforms. I have now accepted that. Yes, it is very inconvenient and sucks when I do not have an answer for a customer with a checkout problem. But glitches pass and your customers will understand.
If you are a small business looking for a great platform, I would so recommend Storenvy! I also recommend doing your own marketing (Social media, locally, purchasing blog ad space ((like on passion fruit ads)) and if you have a great product, great customer service and a little extra cash to get your name out there- then you will thrive!) also, I recommend getting the extra on Storenvy like the Domain name and extra discount codes!
Anyways, hope this helped you from a Storenvy sellers perspective.
I've been selling online for almost a decade now, and Storenvy is one of the easiest places to put up listings that I've found yet. The site is attractive, easy to navigate, and their customer and seller support has been fantastic. I'm so pleased that I gave them a shot because it's been a wonderful experience!
I love Storenvy! I have been using it for years and have great success. I love that you can actually customize your custom store - either just by adding a header & background or totally altering the HTML & CSS to have a bomb looking shop! You can also embed your blog, photo galleries, sizing charts & more by using custom pages. It's so radical! And in addition to all that, you can opt in to their Marketplace which brings in tons of exposure - it has even resulted in me being featured on BuzzFeed, in Parents Magazine & more!
A lot of the negative reviews here don't have anything to do with Storenvy - it is mostly complaints about individual sellers, and just like eBay or Etsy, there is always some bad apples who ruin it for the rest of us. But I can say out of over 150 orders I have placed on Storenvy, I have not had a single issue with any of the items I have ordered arriving in a timely manner or as described. It's a great place to buy & sell!
I let store envy know that they had a scammer. They stated they were aware of the scammer... thats it. Wasted money and time.
I have shopped with Storenvy for years and bought tons of goods from various Artists and Independent Companies. Its always a positive experience when the good arrive whenever they arrive. People place too much emphasis on fast shipping, and not enough on quality of goods. Just because that fast food place give you fast crappy food, doesnt make the food any better. You can buy any kind of crap on Amazon and get it fast but it will never compare to getting goods form individual independent shop owners who send you something truly cool and unique.
Also Storenvy allows you to take part in a community of thousands of other shoppers and build a list of 'Envy's which are products you like. You can visit other shoppers 'Envy Lists' and see what they have found. Its a social community build around finding treasures!
Storenvy rocks!
I used to be a seller and loved it because it was the cheapest alternative to your own custom store. I sold for almost a year without problems. Early this year they made a bunch of changes including marketplace commissions and adding Stripe. After that they had so many glitches and site outages. People were contacting me saying they couldn't check out, I couldn't get in to see orders and the last straw was when someone was charged 7 times for a single order because the site was malfunctioning and not showing that the order was processed on her end so she kept hitting the submit button. There were so many outages that I had to think how many people were not buying because of problems!
They have a marketplace but honestly it is a joke. I searched the marketplace for my product (keyword used, words in title and description) and it didn't show up until page 6. My product is not common, so it is not like other items were pushing me back to page 6, it was 5 pages of completely irrelevant products, then on page 6 items with the keyword you searched.
If you want to be a seller and have customers come to you, you would need to use a marketplace that actually pulls the words you are searching like Amazon, Etsy and Ebay. I tried my keywords on those and they were all up on the first page. So I am not sure why you would pay 10% commission on a marketplace that sucks if you can use Ebay for 10% or Etsy for 3.5%.
If you drive your own traffic to the site and do not rely on the marketplace it is a very cost effective option, as long as you don't mind frequent bugs. (there are less than 10 people running this huge platform so they have lots of problems without a lot of help)
I love Storenvy! First, because it has the most EPIC staff running the host site. Second, I get to have my own shop branded to fit my products. Third, I get to ENVY all of my favorite products through the marketplace! I tell everyone "Forget Etsy! Shop Storenvy!"
I just wanted to drop a quick note, "I really, really love, LOVE the improvement on the website, visitors stats, enhanced secured checkout and ease of use" along with its great TEAM behind the curtain, too! I have been with Storenvy since last year as both a seller to a successful shop powered by Storenvy and a buyer/supporter to many artisans, and it has been a blessing from ABOVE to be apart of this wonderful community! The customer service could not have been better. The ease of shopping on your site, and the idea behind is great.
Answer: No! Please stay far away from this site.
Answer: Honestly, I'm very surprised by these reviews too. We have over 100,000 store owners, so I suppose there are bound to be some people who didn't have a great experience. But we certainly have a lot of successful, loyal merchants.
Answer: Just like Etsy or Amazon, Storenvy isn't a single seller, it's a site featuring shops hosted by a network of different sellers. My advice would be to check out the information on the page of the particular seller you're looking at. Look at their feedback and their shipping timelines, and that should give you a better idea of what to expect. Most of the sellers there are fantastic, but it's always best to do research before buying from a new person :)
Answer: Its not "technically" a scam, its just a website with a bunch of people who put up stores. The problem is many of those people are not good at running a business (and the individual store owners might be scams or might not be) and the company "storeenvy" takes no responsibility for their actions. You will have better luck on EBAY or AMAZON because there is buyer protection and actual customer support. StoreEnvy is not a 'scam', they just suck.
Answer: Each seller is independent within the site. I never got a response from Storenvy customer service, so Paypal refunded my $. So you take your chances. Ebay will refund if the item is not as described or pictured. Also look at where the item ships from, if it's China, it could take 2 weeks and more.
Answer: Your best bet is to pay close attention to the reviews for the seller. Much like Amazon or Etsy or eBay, each seller is responsible for their store and the things they sell in it - which means some things are going to be fabulous and some won't be. So check the reviews and make sure you know that the seller you're trying has a solid reputation with their buyers and consistently delivers a good quality product.
Answer: Nope i wouldn't do it... the whole site is fraud. Myself and a few other people are in pursuit of getting our money back.
