I have an unlimited data plan with CC and I used my mobile hotspot a few times during the power outages we were experiencing. Now CC has turned off that feature on my account for no reason. For all the years we have been with them, and this what we get?
Hopefully we can move carriers soon.
I called this company be I looked it up and it seemed like a honest company. When I called I spoke to a guy that actually purposely ripped me out of 10 dollars by simply getting my debit card number and not telling me of a fee. When I asked him why was he needing my card number he told me that it was to keep on file and that no charges would be made. After the deal was sealed I went into my banking app and seen that he told a lie. I called back to the company and complained only to speak to a lady which happened to be a supervisor that could care less. Do not get this company. They are a rip off and a scam and they do don't value a new customer. They can care less. I kept asking for a corporate office number to file my complaint but the supervisor would not give it to me
I signed up for their unlimited plan. Right away i figured out they were using T-mobile towers when the phone would not even work in a parking lot and the internet doesnt seem to work anywhere
I went to Consumer Cellular to switch my service to that carrier. I told the cellular representative that I was willing to buy 2 new sim cards, but if they were going to sell me new phones, I did not want that. The rep assured me that they wouldn't do that. After 4 and a half hours of trying to get me on line and speaking on a three way call with the rep, a supervisor from cellular and a rep from verizon to make sure network and phone devices were unlocked, verizon hung up and now it's the cellular rep talking to the celluar supervisor on the phone. At that point the supervisor from cellular told the rep your guest has to buy 2 new phones. At that point I said forget about it, reimburse me for the sims and let me go. After reimbursement for the sims cards, I had no incoming or outgoing calls nor did I have my old cell number. He said the best thing to do is to go home on your computer and call cellular. How could I if I don't have phone access? At that poinit I had to call Bethlehem police to get involved. Incident number PA2023-*******. All I received was a shrug of the shoulders of the rep when I said I had no service. I am a senior citizen that is still very active in my community and about. My mission now is to tell of my experience with consumer cellular and not just to one person - to crowds, gatherings, church dinners, bingo, and supermarket cashiers that I am friendly with. I will be consumer cellular's worst form of advertisement to let the masses know of this treatment and with a smile at the end is enough to fuel my energy. Beware of a scam ripoff called consumer cellular. I have also reported this incident to the Better Business Bureau. Losing my phone number of 20 plus years and having to call numerous people and doctors to let them know my new number was not worth the minimal savings to switch carriers. I am still in the process of this notification. God bless Verizon and it's professional workers.
The sham that they will give you your money back with no hidden fees is a total lie. I got a phone from them and when I received it it was defective. After many hours on the phone I was told by a supervisor to return it and get a different one which I did, she even sent me the label to mail it back. They received the phone and told me the phone had small scratches on the front and back so now I will be charged for the full amount of the phone. I followed their advice to send it back with their promise I would get a new phone a pay nothing because I was under the AARP 45 day risk free guarantee. Total sham. Don't do business with this company they mislead you
They forgot to tell me that I can take my number with me but it won't be easy!
The first thing that the associate did today was to call me a liar! She asked for my passcode. Then, insisted that I don't have a passcode. I have been a customer or several years and I always used the same passcode. You will need a magnifying glass to read the numbers on the SIM card. Then you will be treated like crap if you can't see the numbers! The employee stated that plenty of other people have read the numbers...Spent 45 minutes on the phone for the third time trying to get activated. Another fail!
They promised us the world they promised us the Moon they told us everything was good we were going to get a new phone two lines and all was good we were just waiting on the phones to be shipped after 2 days they sent an email and called us and told us that they had decided to cancel our activation for no reason at all after we spent money signed a contract with them and bought a case that we didn't need offline for $100. We still haven't got our money back from them that they got from us which is around $600. I personally think they should reimburse me for $100 case that I had bought after they told me everything was good and we had signed contracts. They renewed on their own contract for no reason. Don't be crazy or stupid enough to mess around with these people all you're going to get is a bunch of lies stay away stay away stay away stay away.btw I don't think this is legal and I intend on talking to an attorney about decrement conduct and them cancelling a signed contract for no reason.
If I could rate them a zero star, I would! I called Consumer Cellular to cancel my Mother's cell phone service because she had passed away. The day I called & spoke with customer service, she did say she would cancel the service that day. The phone was disconnected that same day. Then I receive my mother's last credit card statement, & on the same day there was a charge for double her monthly charge. When I called to speak with them again & ask what was going on & why did they charge her card after the fact that it was cancelled, the man gave me a ridiculous & stupid explanation. Not sure if he was reading it or what. Trying to say it was for the month before and then pro-rated for the next month.
So in other words, let's help the seniors get an affordable cell services but we can stick it to the family after they are gone. So sneaky and so unfair.
I would NOT recommend Consumer Cellular at all! Not happy with them at all.
Beware of Consumer Cellular
My father was a customer of your service I called 911 5 times while he lay dieing in my mother's arms your service blocked the call every time and when I did get a hold of them, and they started to give me the directions to save his life your service blocked the call again and dropped the call I can't help but feel my father would still be alive if I could have just done what needed to be done but I know I can't change that but you can you guys have to fix this it's wrong especially considering your service is for seniors I think that it is mandatory a senior should be able to get a hold of 911 you need to change this you can't imagine the pain and suffering that my family are going through right now I don't want anybody else to go through that because of a stupid phone
Really dissatisfied, I left Metro because they overcharge you on phones and no rewards at all after 3 years. Consumer cellular was great getting the phone and price but really disappointed in their service, it seems to loose service every time I need it the most
I used this Consumer Cellular service until I was told I needed 5G to continue. I bought a 5G Android and gave them the model number etc. They said it will work with their service. I switched the sims card like they said was all I had to do. It would not work! Could not call them. Went online and said had to call this number! How? Customer service turned out to be terrible when they screwed up! I had to go to my sisters and use her phone to call them. A different lady first said my phone was not 5G. Then I said it is and she then said she did not say that. Then she said the person I talked to should not have told me my new phone was compatible and I still had to pay for all the whole month even though my phone would not work with them! $25.00 I said I am not paying for their mistake. My 5G Android was almost $300. Months go by and they still kept billing me. Now today they send a collection agency after me. I called them and all you can do is leave a message. I again explained I am not paying for a service they lied about as I had to subscribe to a service that worked instead. That this needs to be settled in court as I am not just going to be screwed over on top of lies. Lies I cannot stand at all. This first collection notice demands $44.58. So they have no problem adding fees for what they screwed me over on. VERY dishonest customer service. I joined Mint Mobile and they are excellent. My 5G phone worked right away. I even signed up and paid for a year at $15 a month instead of the $25 month by month choice. Pay attention people. These people can be fine until something like this happens. Then they want paid or they will not go away and accept what they did. Pure greed is all I see here!
My spouse and I went to them from ATT. Thought we would save money. What happened was just the opposite. Sure talk and text are unlimited gut where they gouge you is data. Typical usage on our IPhones included looking up stuff on the web and taking photos which uses a LOT of data. This means some months our bill was 45–50 bucks a month EACH. Not includeing taxes and 'fees'. We had had it with this so left for another provider for 55 bucks a month unlimited everything including taxes and fees. We've never been happier. If you use mainly talk and text then it's great but do ANYTHING with data and be prepared for a bill that varies month to month.
Consumer Cellular started out great telling me that my existing cell was compatible with their system. I was happy. In a matter of 2 days they had sent me a SIM card for my cell. Keep in mind I gave the my cell's MEID number so they KNEW my cell was compatible. When I put in the SIM card the cell would not work. After an hour or two on the phone with Consumer Cellular they then said "you need a new cell phone sir". Then tried to sell me a $180 cell phone. I assume that is their gimmick to make money off of you. I went back to TracFone who had merged with Verizon and they sent me a brand new cell at NO CHARGE.
With the recent 5G upgrades to our national cell towers I recently lost cell service at the worst possible time. My sister had just died and I'm in Memphis, TN where the brutal killing of Tyre Nichols occurred. I contacted Consumer Cellular from another phone and they worked with me Endlessly and Patiently (given my emotional state) to get my Cell Service restored. Turns out I needed to upgrade my phone and once I did that, these same Awesome Representatives restored my service in minutes and even Credited my account for the time without service. I can tell you, I am not a fan of the way the gov't rolled out the 5G, but I can tell you that CONSUMER CELLULAR was Definitely up to the task! To ALL the Wonderful Associates with CONSUMER CELLULAR, You were present when I needed you the most and you Truly Delivered The Best Customer Service EVER. Please Don't Ever Change!
Was with another company paying $39.71 for unlimited talk and text only. Now with Consumer, I am paying $22.31 for unlimited talk and text PLUS 1 GB of data. Helpful staff.
I was happy with their service, for many many years, even though their flip phones are really cheap. Why i left...in the middle of an important phone call CC deactivated my phone with no notice! Upon calling them they gave NO reason for deactivation, but said MY PHONE didnt match their records. I had gone thru a few phones and was on my 3rd. Then they demanded a ''code'' to get into my account from when i enrolled. I didnt have that code and there was no way to get my phone working again according to them without that code. They asked for that code many many times. No info mattered proving i was who i said i was,but that code. So after going around in circles for 3 hours, with 2 reps and 1 supervisor, on internet live chat and phone, i finally gave up in disgust. I went next day and got a better deal and phone thru T MOBILE! I got live chat next day on internet with CC and told them i wanted my acct and number disconnected because i got a new cell phone carrier and new number. Imagine my surprise when they told me '''' give me that code''' AGAIN to disconnect my service. After a go around and more requests for code, i said ''IM DONE'', 'Do what you want to do, im done with your company' and disconnected from live chat. Next day i got a email for another months service. TO hell with them! If i owe a few days service past my last bill, im not paying it because of all the grief and lost time they caused me!
I dont receive texts untill 8-10 min after the timestamp attached. Its a real issue if you text back and forth with someone, and its Imessage so it should be next to instant. Ive tried resetting the network and other things with them but nothing works. After everything unlimited its about the same price as ATT and Tmobil, do yourself a favor and go with them instead
I canceled my service with cc on August 25th.
Paid the October bill. Got another November bill. They said that they charge a month ahead.
What was October bill. Ok give them that one. I did ask did the November bill cover everything?
Was assured it did.
Just got a late noice on another $15 unpaid bill.
Paid it not to go through the BS.
Never ending process to leave CC.
Never Never Never Buy consumer cellular. They are good until you need a phone. They sent my mom a damaged phone and now won't return it. Cost her $495 dollars. She is out the money because you can't even resell these phones. Cost her more than she has saved for lower service cost. Their packaging is poor and they don't take responsibility for damage they caused.
Great cheap phone plans but you get what you pay for. If you ever need to call them for assistance not only will you wait forever to speak to someone but they are also rude and unprofessional. Seriously I can't stand waiting on hold and hearing over and over how the long wait is due to the pandemic from 2 years ago. A reputable company should not be using that as an excuse and crutch for their louzy customer service and poor work ethic.
Answer: You can get a hold of them but it's a moot point given the service they provide
Answer: Legit company Scam on service and what they advertise.
Answer: Probably not since they barely can get costumer service
