Messing up MQ like this has to be by design. How do you not see what a mess it is? How do you not hear the clamor of your users voicing their aggravation on sites such as this one?
I'm very befuddled.
Never, ever make a hotel reservation through MapQuest. If you wish to cancel they will refuse. I learned that lesson the hard way... If I could give a minus 5 star rating I would do so.
I used to use MapQuest all the time. Since they revamped it has become horrible. It is much harder to use, the page is cluttered, the map itself is smaller. I still tend to automatically go to it, but I'm going to have to retrain my brain to use another map site. Today when I was trying to put in directions, point A to point B, everytime I tried to type in the address boxes an advertisement would pop up, blocking the box I was trying to type in. I had to go back and try to type again. Whoever redesigned the site just shot themselves in the foot. Sooo much worse than the previous version! MapQuest, get a clue!
Several years ago MapQuest was PERFECT and I used it all the time! It has since become harder and harder to use every time they make some ridiculous "improvement". I just wasted at least 45 minutes trying to figure out how to get from Point A to Point B (in the same town)! There is way too much going on on the page. It's hard to read, hard to navigate and a complete mess - ex: I put in my starting address and it had a pop up asking me if I meant "this address" which was the EXACT same thing I had just typed in. Going back to the old paper fold out maps people use to keep in their glove compartments is easier than this. What an AWFUL site now! UGH
The new website is BRUTAL! USELESS... terrible! It can't find anything and is covered with ads. What an awful thing to do to a program that worked and I used frequently. BOOOOO!
The new website is HORRIBLE. Way too many buttons, pop ups, menus, etc. Gives me anxiety just looking at it. I type in one city and it auto fills with a different city. Guess I'll try google or some other similar site.
When making travel plans with multiple stops the old mapquest gave you the time and distance for each stop. This was very useful and the new version does not do this. The new version is no good to me because of this.
The old mapquest was great, intuitive after a while, easy to use and dependable. The NEW Mapquest is quirky, lost all my addresses, difficult to add new ones, and, much like Apple devices, wants to tell me what I should be entering. After at least 6 attempts at entering a new destination for directions, with Mapquest always reverting to some destination unrelated to any of my searches, I gave up and tried Google Maps. Got it the first time. Goodbye Mapquest.
SiteJabber founder one: "Hey! Let's make a Yelp-like site, but for other web sites!"
SiteJabber founder two: "Wow! That's a great idea!"
- the only problem is that unlike most restaurants and bars, other web sites have help available on-line and methods to contact them on their site, too. Stop wasting your time here and go to the sites (like mapquest.com) and use their customer service portals to complain about your experiences. It will actually reach someone who cares.
I use to be able to simply put in my location, my destination and get simple and accurate turn by turn, road by road directions. Now it says "location found, install now". I don't want to have to install anything new. Just show me the directions like it use to.It was plain and simple. Now it just sucks!
MapQuest has a "new" site option. It's extremely difficult to navigate through and so not user friendly. Whoever made the those changes needs to be fired... like immediately.
Mapquest new site sucks $#*! and is impossible to use.
Having used MapQuest for 10 + years I can't believe your company designed a program
That is so difficult to use. Back to the drawing board! I won't waste anymore time trying
To figure it out.
Too bad you had to screw up your mapquest page! It's more difficult to navigate and I do not like the way it's displayed on the map! I liked being able to add stops with A, B, C etc and move around to obtain the most efficient routes, not good anymore! This is a prime example that when you think you've got to make something new and improved you just end up loosing the benefits it already had. What a shame!
Mapquest always always gives directions that take you around the world to go down the block. I prefer to use navigation on my cell or a separate car GPS
When you book a flight on Mapquest be aware that it is really Priceline.com. There is no mention of Priceline anywhere which is dishonest and cheating. I wanted to reward Mapquest for all the assistance over the years and used their flight link. It was only when I discovered a problem with the flight and phoned to inquire, that I discovered it was Priceline. This is extremely deceptive. The Mapquest flight site at http :// bookings. Mapquest. Com/home/? This should be illegal.
I stopped using mapquest a couple years ago. I had bad experiences where the directions were wrong. I don't know if it has gotten better since then.
I got very clear, printable maps, driving directions, addresses of businesses, and much more
I gave up on Mapquest a long time ago. The initial portion of the written directions were fine, but it seemed every time I used it, the last or next to last directions were exactly the opposite of what should be done.
This is the one for the iphone app. It is great as it directs you from your location and then it both is followed by reading the directions which are very easy to read, and it also has a voice so you do not have to be looking at the gadget every few minutes.
Answer: I agree with all the negative comments. It was not broken and the best fire the guys you paid to come up with this new format and get back to what you had if you want a webpage at all and followers
Answer: Where is classic mapquest? Where this used to be great. Now you can't even get the right directions like to the next stoplight. Mapquest used to give right directions. Now they would you 1. Get lost so you want more directions. 2. Stop at an advertiser to give them business Not good. I've got to get an expensive directional diverse to get good directions. I sj be able to get your site and get good directions can't do that.
