The Classic Mapquest site was intuitive and anyone who used it once week or so could follow the site as it was user-friendly. Apparently, the engineering staff wanted to make it as technically challenging as possible. The auto-fills are inaccurate, the maps are inaccurate, and basic knowledge is lost in a soup of gadgetry and useless information. Sometimes, simple is better. Goodbye Mapquest, it's time form me to use Google Maps.
The Classic Mapquest was easy to navigate, and for years I had NO problem with it. Now someone had a bad dream and designed this new Mapquest site and IT IS HORRIBLE!
Even the look of the page is lousy---what in the h... ll was someone drinking or smoking to come up with such a terrible site? I've tried it a few times, then said the heck with this and now go to either Yahoo or Google maps for directions.
Darn, can't they leave a good thing alone?
Mapquest has been my go-to for all of my work-related travel for years. Loved it. Worked perfect, and was very user-friendly. Now, with this forced-on-us piece of garbage, it takes longer to set up routes, there are fewer options, and it's just not as accurate. I have already run into several addresses I work at that it can't find (that have been there a long time, and old mapquest knew). There are also a few that have misspelled or mislabeled streets, so that also throws everything off.
For several months, we kept getting nagged that the old, reliable, accurate & user-friendly version was going away. I tried the new one for a couple of weeks to acclimate myself, but no matter how hard I tried to like it, it doesn't come remotely close to the quality of the old site. I would just like to know: WHY?
In one week-end the new version provided 3 different directions to places which were wrong. For one instance, a entire freeway turnoff was omitted. I also do not want Mapquest to give directions to go off a main freeway in an attempt to save 2 minutes, by winding through a very congested town, and in one instance in an unsafe area!
What the heck is going on?
Loved the old map quest, so easy to use. Now, I can't find the features I used to use or features are so buried that it is frustrating. Hate this new map quest and will not use again!
Why can't you simply put an address or location in the box, hit enter, and see a freaking map. Isn't that what the site is supposed to do? Why are there 3 layers between entry point and actually seeing a map. UX is poor. The added 'features' are there to simply support advertising/revenue. Bad trade off if you lose users forever.
Classic mapquest wasn't perfect but it was pretty good. The new website is atrocious! All the features I used to use are either missing or next to impossible to find. I have given up on this site.
Today I spent over an hour to make a trip less than 9 miles long. The map was not what I wanted by direction. It wouldn't let me change my route, no matter what I did. I went out and bought a paper map and sorted it out myself. So much for MQ being helpful. I used to use it all the time, now it's no longer usable. I hope some idiot there could bring back the old MQ that would work. I will chek in about 2 months from now to see if it improves. As for now I am very dissapointed with it.

I was unaware that mapquest jacks up prices of hotels that you book on their website... I booked a Courtyard Marriott for $146- on MapQuest. The SAME room on the SAME night is $125- through the Marriott Website.
They will not assist or adjust... when I called the customer service line and it explained it to the rep he said, "ok and what did you want me to do?" NO HELP
Requested driving directions to Old Stonehouse Way; received directions for Old Wrights Mill Road, same city, same zip.
Those street names are so much NOT the same (proof-read request before asking Mapquest for directions).
Never again. There are many other, and better, choices.
It is impossible to just drag your route to a different road. Very tedious to change an address when stupid mapquest cannot find an address. Especially if it is a newer home. I'm trying to find someone's house and all it want to tell me is where to find a Hampton's Inn. [Nothing against HI, I like them] I have no clue why they made it so difficult, Their previous web site was a breeze.
Once loved it. All the changes have made it difficult to use. I don't get it. I can't even get my miles to show up as anything but kilometers. And that's just an annoying part. The main thing is it just doesn't work as well as it used to.
There's just nothing left there that I like.
I am a state employee and have used Mapquest for years! Due to our line of work, it is imperative we locate an address from our office asap, but it is totally impossible with this NEW Mapquest! It doesn't even recognize addresses we have used for years! Mapquests NEW version has not only become difficult to use, it jeopardizes the health and wellbeing of certain members of our communities! Absolutely ridiculous! Shame on Mapquest!
I echo previous comments. I used to use Mapquest all the time. It was my go-to resource. Now it is just a waste of time. They say you can alter the route by clicking and dragging but mostly you just click and drag the map all over the place. I liked being able to hide parts of the directions and zoom in on tricky route changes. Kiss that goodbye. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's broke, now.
So done! I keep trying, hoping that I just need to get used to the new look and feel, but I'm done. Nothing works - not even finding addresses. Aside from the fact that the typography choices for the redesign were a huge red flag from the beginning - I mean, who in gawd's name would pick a retro font from the 80s?! For online work?! - this app is a disaster now. Such a nightmare - it used to be my go-to/must-have app. Now I can't run away from it fast enough!
Well another site "improved" to the level of being impossible to use. When will these people learn? Removed from my favorites. So long incompetents!
A total disaster, and I don't even know where to begin. It has a life of its own, so as you attempt to type in addresses pop-ups consume your brain and chew it up and spit it out like so many demented demons. You cannot click on a given spot to make a correction but need to erase the entire address--it is simply horrible. They took a user-friendly tool and turned it into a clusterf#$% of horrors. It's a mess, and from reading the poor reviews here it is obvious that many feel the same, but the morons@ Mapquest don't seem to care.
Completely stopped using them after I noticed they had wrong addresses for businesses, I had to double check and even after I sent submissions that they had the incorrect information they never got back to me! I wrote them once a week for 3 weeks letting them know the business address what completely wrong and... NOTHING.
Very unprofessional and not trust worthy.
I travel a lot and would like to use them and after the new release pointed out over 30 bugs. Haven't tried it for awhile, but it is still awful. Just basic stuff, dragging, showing the right map profile are still messed up. Been in software 30+ years, one of the worst upgrades in the history of software. Ready to go back to a paper map.
I'm 76 yrs and not technically adept, but COULD AND DID LOVE MAPQUEST, the old version. NOW, I cannot even figure out, NOR DO I SEE WHERE, I can ADD ANOTHER ADDRESS! I'm off to look for a better map-site. BAH.
Answer: I agree with all the negative comments. It was not broken and the best fire the guys you paid to come up with this new format and get back to what you had if you want a webpage at all and followers
Answer: Where is classic mapquest? Where this used to be great. Now you can't even get the right directions like to the next stoplight. Mapquest used to give right directions. Now they would you 1. Get lost so you want more directions. 2. Stop at an advertiser to give them business Not good. I've got to get an expensive directional diverse to get good directions. I sj be able to get your site and get good directions can't do that.
