Refunds a joke
May 10, 2017

I placed in order a week ago, was sent an email saying that the fish i ordered (an orbic and tiera batfish) didn't pass inspection to be shipped so I asked for a refund of my money. It's been 4 days and I'm still fighting to get my money recredited to my card. I would just cut my losses and say screw the site but it was a 115 dollar order so I'm going to keep fighting.

Poor business practices
December 20, 2016

Have found that a lot of the fish arrive dead, diseased or die within a few days. They do not back up their guarantee policy, and are not the least bit accommodating to their customers.
I would never recommend this company to ANYONE.

I purchased 2 fish from Saltwaterfish, they arrived the next day and in seemingly good condition. I followed the enclosed acclimation process and all was fine. Within 2 weeks my well established tank was in trouble. I performed a complete chem test with everything showing good readings. At nearly the 2 week mark both new fish were dead and others were looking ill. I was told they had Crypto, since I have coral all I could do was turn off all lighting and lowered the salinity during the next few days. To no avail all of my fish are dead.
With nothing new introduced into my tank for many-many months there is little doubt the ICH came from these fish. I received only a store credit for the 2 fish that I purchased.
Tough luck.

Terrible Company
September 5, 2016

I submitted photos of my dead fish I got from them, they refused refund and are a terrible company to do business with. Go elsewhere. They dont handle livestock appropriately nor do they handle customers appropriately.

If 0 stars were an option, that would be my rating! They are scam artists! Do not order from them!
I placed an order for some corals, inverts and 1 fish from saltwater.com, because I would always get ads from them in my email, and they had a few items that the other sites I was ordering from did not sell. The website seemed professional, and they did have a 15 day guarantee, so after deliberating I went ahead and placed an order during their 4th of July sale.
When my shipment arrived, the first thing I noticed was that 4 of the bags had the darkest, dirtiest straight-from-the-ocean-water I had ever seen! Seriously! After acclimating the livestock in those bags, I put them into a vessel to inspect them and was absolutely appalled. The 3 different frags I ordered of various polyp corals, literally were 4 inch rocks straight from the ocean, with other growth and hitchhikers all over them. The pictures that I ordered from online, were clearly nice clean frags, not nasty overrun-with-pests rocks! I did a 5 minute freshwater/iodine dip, and numerous sea spiders, various worms etc came off. No way would any sane person put that in their tank! While the 2 feather dusters I ordered seemed healthy, they also came in that same nasty water, so I have kept them in quarantine as well. Additionally, 4 of the 10 nassarius snails were DOA, which I didn't even complain about; the Emerald Crab I ordered is white with gray spots, and clearly not emerald (didn't complain about that either); the 4 green leg hermits I ordered were supposed to be under 1/2 inch, and were each 2 to 3 inches.
I immediately initiated refund/RMA, and explained my dissatisfaction. I also included photos of what I received compared to their thumbnails of what I had ordered. The site says they will respond within 3 days. On day 4 I sent an email complaining they had not resolved my issue. She replied and apologized that the crabs were too big issued me a whopping $5.99 refund for the crabs, and gave me the following response about the corals:

"The photos we provide show these corals fully open. The corals you received would look similar if given the chance to live... with proper care and lighting. Did you throw them out, where are they now? Also, the feather dusters are alive and well. Why are they being claimed? -Mary-"

I told her I was well aware of the lighting and corals, and the issue was that I had received nasty rocks from the ocean with pests all over, not nice little frags like they advertised to be sending. I also told her they were being humanely kept in a quarantine tank until she sent return authorization.

Her Response: "The photos provided are a representation of the species. Sizes and color variations, etc are noted in the description of each item, as each item is unique. You didn't purchase frags, you purchased full size corals which are collected legally from the ocean. They are attached to rock and the rock will have sediment. Please feel free to review the description of each item. The Green Star Polyps for example are collected from Indonesia. Our EIBI area shows the exact item being shipped and has more of the aqua-cultured frag corals. While you are entitled to your opinion, we have not misrepresented our marine life and I am sure the issue is more relevant to what was expected."

I have attached a photo of what I received in some cleaner water that I acclimated them to. While the feathers look healthy, they were also in that nasty water, and I'm afraid they have parasites. The thumbnails are from the website, and are what I naively thought I was ordering, but apparently according to Mary, are only a "representation of what I might be shipped."

I needed a reef light. I saw on a promotional where they were giving $100 in livestock for 99 cents contingent on purchasing $139. Perfect I thought! I can get a light and a ton of fish at the same time! So I ordered. I got a notification saying my fish (singular) shipped. Hm, ok. I got really excited an watched as the shipment got closer and closer, until 7:33 in the morning. It stopped in ATL and i live about 30 minutes away. So I waited, and waited and still no delivery. 4:00 rolls around and I finally get my fish. Dead. UGH! I file a report and they quickly got my money back (the only redeeming quality). I called them about the light, and they put it through. You should have done that earlier, but whatever. They also tell me the order should have included "marine life" and that the $140 light I bought doesnt count towards that because it wasn't livestock. This was my first time buying saltwater fish online and I will not be returning.

I did business with them. Half my fish died, within 3 days. They are crediting me a couple of dollars. That's the guarantee. You still have to pay the 40.00 shipping fee and 6.00 handling fee. I will never do business with this pathetic company again

What a Joke!
November 12, 2015

Bought hundreds of dollars worth of fish from them. First time... when i went pick them up from Fedex they looked all sick. Next day they all died. They did give me store credit so i bought from them again. They same thing happened with the second order. The other day my shipment came in and there was a DOA. They say if you report it within 5 hours of receiving they will issue your money back for that fish. The fish i ordered was 28.00 they only refunded me 19.00. I think they poison the fish so you have to keep buying from them. I'm cutting my losses and never using this site ever again.

Customer service is a joke. I see a law suit coming for false advertising

Worst company I have ever done business with. Set up an aquarium for a nonprofit of
Organization (boys and girls club) to teach conservation, protection, and ecosystem on the oceans reef. Saltwaterfish.com sent animals that fedex left over night and didn't get sent. Well saltwaterfish.com decided that acclimating them and sending them the following day was ok. This is NOT ok and risks the animals life. When I called, complained, asked to not send the fish overnight, and compensation for a delay, they canceled the order, never gave a refund, and banded the organization. We had to report the issue to the bank and of course was favors in behalf on the boys and girls club.
