Stauer Reviews Summary

The company has garnered mixed feedback, with some customers praising the quality and aesthetic appeal of certain products, particularly jewelry and watches. However, numerous complaints highlight significant issues with customer service, including difficulties with order fulfillment, high shipping costs, and inadequate responses to inquiries. Many customers expressed frustration over unexpected substitutions, long wait times for refunds, and a lack of transparency regarding product availability. Overall, while there are positive sentiments regarding product design, the recurring concerns about service reliability and support suggest a need for improvement in customer relations and operational practices.

Poor Craftsmanship
November 22, 2021

The workers at this company must just sit arounb trying to figure out how to screw up the products they make. I ordered a watch for $29 that ended up costing me $50. The strap clasp fell off BEFORE I even was able to put it on. Cheap materials, poor quality and customer service was abrupt and useless. No, they won't give me all my money back. I'm out $20 just to get a package in the mail. Will never order from Stauer again!

Love the product
November 15, 2021

I have purchased many different rings from this company in the past and just recently. I think that the quality is very good. I haven't had any issues with any of the rings, and people comment on them all the time.

U get what u pay for
November 7, 2021

Bought one of their advertised watch specials (supposedly discounted $199). Very cheap in all aspects and not even worth the dirt cheap price I paid. Started to come apart the very first day. I will not buy from Stauer ever again.

I have always found Stauer's procedures opaque and unclear. I placed an order for a ring (and an accompanying Platinum membership they talked me into) back in February. I have a loadable credit card, and they sent me an email, prompting me about the fact there wasn't the money for the charge on the card. I normally thought that, once the money was there, they would take payment. Well, the ring wasn't in stock. I had to wait and wait and wait. Finally, this month (June 30) they notify me they are cancelling this long standing order because there was no money on my card. I am now not working and am collecting no benefits, so the ring I wanted, and thought I had paid for, will not be coming at all. This billing procedure is not made clear, especially on such long delayed orders. To say I'm pissed is an understatement. Their jewelry is not that good anyway. A silver bracelet I bought from them came apart, and after trying to repair it, it fell off and is lost, and one of the "gold" wore off a ring I bought from them after just a little wear. I told them to take me off their mailing list. Don't deal with them.

14k bracelet
June 10, 2021

They did not sent the bracelet I ordered. The one that was sent has a structural defect. I will not buy any further products from this company, very poor quality, very disappointed, not worth it.

I bought a men's ring to replace my wedding ring (matching my wife's). It was glued together and one stones came out (it had been glued in, not set in. We sent it back; they held it until we called to ask about its repair (more than a month), and they told us they would get it in the mail. They did send it back but apparently there was no effort to repair it nor was there an offer to a. Exchange it, or b. Get our money back. Now I have an expensive ring which I will have to try and repair myself, or out a lot of money (pocket change to the rich, but not to me. 0

Avoid Stauer "Platinum" membership
March 6, 2021

AVOID Stauer "Platinum" membership subscription! All I received from Stauer in return for my membership fee were glossy brochures. No membership number or ID. No promised special offers or membership discounts. And definitely no free shipping. I cancelled my useless "platinum" subscription. About a month later I received an email from Stauer excusing my "platinum" membership has "fallen through the cracks". Instead of returning any of my "platinum" fee paid, I received "special" coupons. They were "special" alright. Most merchandise refused to apply the coupon code! Frankly, "DiamondAura" is just a cubic zircon, "CZ". Stauer manufactures "CZ" in many colors and markets them under different names. Just know, over time, "CZ" and other man-made gems dull. You can purchase these for much less at big box stores.

BUYER BEWARE STAUER CO.
January 23, 2021

I purchased 4 items from this STAUER. Only one item a Raffinato pair of earrings were satisfactory. The other 3 were so cheap, I would not give them as gifts. 1. a leather money clip was not leather but rather a cheap leather plastic imitation $49.00,2. Dolce Murano necklace $49.00 the chain broke in my hand when taking it out of the box and clip holding the glass hanging droplet was discoloring and not milled properly at the edges. 3. A Snowflake pendant $25.00 which was advertised for it's sparkling crystals was dull with no sparkle at all. This company has a poor customer satisfaction rating on the internet. I wish I had researched STAUER before I purchased from them. Buyer Beware!

Pure Junk
December 26, 2020

I got a present from friend. Turquoise earrings and necklace. I almost thought it was plastic like stones it was so light for the size. Stamped looks like silver on edges, not hand made, all machine and the box said Sedona Turquoise. I have been collecting beautiful Indian made turquoise for over 40 years and I know my jewelry and this is pure junk or costume jewelry and not near the price my unknowing friend paid for it.
Its outrageous that people are being lied to about the quality etc. for the price.
It will be returned to them ASAP and thank goodness it was paid by credit card. It was delivered by USPS and I'm sure it was 5 times what the shipping should have been for how light and small it was.
You are much better of to buy even at a Walmart because you can see it and hold it etc. I'm sorry people get sucked into these scams.

Do not buy from these people, I tried to make a purchase for Christmas they said they could not ship to a different
Address than my billing, so I cancelled and used a card with the same billing and shipping address, knowing I would have to pay additional shipping to get the present out. Then I get an email and a phone call asking for a copy of my ID-um, can you say NO WAY! The lady on the phone wanted my credit card company phone number and my account number so she could call them-can you say NO WAY! This is a serious scam and I hope someone shuts this down-I found them in my NRA book of all places. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DEAL with these people!

Very disappointed
October 7, 2020

We purchased our initial watch from this company pre Covid, the we purchased a second watch and it came broken. When I tried to contact the Stauer again she was extremely defensive telling me the product was not broken! Sorry to say it was, and after she said this can't be true it is and was! Then when we fought, her choice to return it as well as ours she was like a grizzly bear, however working from home during Covid. How do I know this? Her little children were in the back round howling with her dogs and she was so $#*!ty to me. If I did that for the major company I work for my $#*! would be trash! I don't blame her!
Her but if I told you the time piece SUCKED it did! Please don't debt me, I never complain

Total junk.
September 29, 2020

I ordered a gold plated. 925 sterling silver, gold plated Italian necklace, called Indulgence. The item was perhaps an aluminum chain with a faded goldish paint. It was totally corroded and could not be used even as a custom jewelry. Returned the item, but the merchant refuse to credit the full price. Their postage and handling is almost $20.00 ($19.95) for a $3.96 first class stamp. The merchandise was advertised as a $299.00 heirloom quality. HAH!
Save yourself the hustle and skip this company.

Stauer charges you a big money for shipping and indicates the UPS as an original shipper and then after a couple days they transfer it onto the USPS and you have no chance to track the shipping status. Also, USPS office do NOT deliver the package to your home but leave you a message that they tried to deliver the package and nobody was at home?! USPS are also lied of course. Now you have to waste your time and go to their post office and pickup your package. Totally unprofessionally by Stauer and poor business by USPS. Paid $15.95 for shipping... Never ever will buy anything from Stauer.

Beware of Stauer!
June 2, 2020

I foolishly let a customer service rep convince me to buy into a Stauer "platinum" program. The very first time I tried to use a discount, I was unable to make a purchase. So, I wasted money on THAT privilege. Also, I recently gave a jewelry set that I bought from Stauer to a friend for her birthday. The clasp was broken. It was so embarrassing. Last but not least, every silver item I bought from Stauer almost immediately turns black. Most silver jewelry has to be cleaned periodically, of course; but usually not within the first 10 minutes one owns it.

Absurd shipping costs
March 27, 2020

I am a platinum member, paid for the privilege. The thing is, they give you a price of their 'sale' item, then stick it to you with ridiculous shipping fees. The margin on the items sold is more than made up for with the add-on fees (30%)! It's the old 'shipping and handling' sham by telling you it's for 'insurance' regardless of the weight of the item.

Cheap merchandise
February 1, 2020

My boyfriend paid over $100 for the Italian Murano Glass necklace and bracelet. It is strung on flimsy black yarn and the bracelet broke the first time I wore it. Also he gave me the Scienza Ruby Romance ring and it bent! I'm sorry he wasted his money.

Returns
October 14, 2019

On August 31,2019 I placed an order with Stauer. The item cost $128.77 and was automatically deducted from my American Express. No problem as I received my order within 10 days. On September 13 I returned the item because I didn't care for it. I took a picture of my return label and kept the return receipt. 10 days after I returned the item I started checking my American Express for a credit. On October 7 I decided to call and ask why I had not been credited for my return. The first call I placed I was put on hold for 45 minutes. I hung up, called back and took the option of leaving my phone number so they could call me back. Well, no surprise, they never did call me back. I kept trying throughout the day and kept being put on hold. Finally, after putting my phone on speaker and waiting almost an hour my call was answered. I explained my situation -- gave the rep all the details --- order number, date of return, return reference number, etc. The rep said that yes they had received the return but they were behind in posting credits and that my credit would be posted in two days. What kind of answer is that? I think any dodo bird would know that they were hanging on to my money as long as possible (and I'm sure that of others) in their account. On the 11th -- three days later -- the credit was still not posted to my account so I called American Express and explained the situation. American Express reversed the charge until they hear from Stauer. I will never order from this company again.

From the business

Here's the Stauer difference: We don't have wholesalers. We don't pay rent for expensive shops or hire expensive celebrity spokespeople. We go directly to the source and make the product ourselves. Last year we bought 2 million carats of emeralds and 9 million carats of amethyst. The local store might buy 20 or 30 carats a year from wholesalers who mark up their product by about 50%.

We’re getting the better deal and we pass the savings on to you. Because at the end of the day, true value comes from leaving $1,600 in your bank account and still being able to own one of nature’s most fascinating gems.

Stauer is where you go to honor the triumphs of living. Honoring milestones or celebrating the joy and beauty of the love of your life. It’s the story of history, art, science, of man’s fascination with the beauty of nature. We don’t overcharge you for a little blue box; instead we will take you on the romantic journey of a lifetime.
