STAY AWAY FROM THESE STORAGE FACILITIES... THEY ALWAYS STAGED THEIR UNITS, AND HAVE ROBO/GOST BIDDERS THEY IKE THE BIDDING AMOUNTS AGAINST THE NORMAL BIDDER TO UP THE PRICE AND STORAGETREASURES CONDONE THIS BEHAVIOR BUT WOULD QUICKLY PUNISHED THE BUYER BASED ON INCONSIDERATE STATEMENTS OF INACCURATE FACTS... SO BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMING FACILITIES: EXTRA SPACE STORAGE (GOULD AVE, KENNEDY BLVD, ETC) STORQUEST, STORAGE KING, LIFE STORAGE - WORST (ENGLEWOOD, NJ)

Where do I begin?!

The Covid Pandemic has been great for Storage Treasures! Fifteen to Twenty Thousand auctions a month must equate to millions of dollars in fees!

Now to the review: The bottom line is there is ZERO buyer protection for the bidders! If you like inflated prices, staged units, dealing with shill bidding, facilities cancelling auctions when prices are too low, facilities cancelling auctions after you win and your card is charged for the fees, and basically no chance to get a deal unless you want to pay retail or above then this is the site for you!

I've been following this site for years and have grown to enjoy watching units in the Seattle area balloon to outrageous prices every month. A lot of the times I see these auctions re-listed and going for less money then the previous month. I tried really hard to win some units this month and was not successful after bidding on 15 units. I received 5 phone calls from Storage Treasures customer service regarding second change offers (I declined them all). The so generously give you an option to by the unit at your max bid! For example one unit sold for $1,060 before fees and taxes. I had a max bid of $590 and they offered me the unit for that price. I asked them at what point did the high bidder (shill bidder) start bidding me up? If he started bidding me up at $350 then that it was I would be willing to pay. If he defaulted then why do I have to pay what he bid me up to? They didn't like that question and hung up the phone on me. With no history of who is bidding it seems to me that shill bidders, Storage Treasure employees, unit owners, or facility managers could be bidding the units up? Why not because if they go too far they know a "second chance offer" can be utilized.

This business model is perfect for the money hungry / greedy folks at Storage Treasures! I'm beginning to wonder if it can sustain itself into the future for several reasons. 1. I think buyers are getting tired of getting burned. 2. The facilities are not moving their units fast enough because many buyers are not claiming their units. 3. Storage Treasures may get shut down due to FRAUD.

If there was better buyer protection I could get excited about online auctions, but there is too much shady activity going on for me to consider paying these premium prices to buy units.

I miss the days where you could visit and auction, interact with buyers, and get a good deal while helping out your local facility. I can't wait to see this online system crash and burn!

I have used them twice and both time's the auction was canceled. First auction was canceled two hours before the end of the auction just to see it reposted 3 weeks later. I won the second auction was sent a invoice just to have it cancelled 30 minutes later as I was driving the 3 hours to get there. Not a honest site don't use them.

Worse place to bid
August 14, 2020

I have been buying lockers for 17 years now. I have had problems in the past with empty boxes dead animals, snakes you name it i have seen.
I have paid alot of money to storage treasures, but tge one time my account was hacked and someday a bunch of bidding in my name and my account won they would not work with me. I tried to tell the cs but nope still suspended. That happened in June 2020. They never even called me to see if I did make those bids.
I know work as an auctioneer and for another online auction company. They may be a big company but don't let thst fool you. They will fall one day.

I called storage treasures for help after the unit I bought had been flooded. After I had loaded maybe 5-6 items in my car the storage place than said if we take anything they Won't give us money back. I didn't even have 5% of the unit in my possession because it was soaked in water and smelled of mildew. I sent them video footage of the unit and a floor to ceiling hole in the wall. I'm asking for a 50% refund and they are giving me the run around depending on who you speak to Que or Mel and then the lie and say a manager will call you back Joe or Rob and no one ever does. Mel just tells me it's my fault. Wow stat away. The best part is the storage place gave me the receipt for the person who lost the unit with their nam, address and how much they owe on it. Que said they don't care.

RIPOFF!
July 30, 2020

The employees or the management go through the stuff you bought before you arrive to pick it up. They're so arrogant they dont even try to hide the fact that they took everything of value. You pay to clean out their storage units and take everything to the dump.

Be careful when u buy they will change your pick dates from 72h to 42h. With iut any notice. You will win units at 10 am but at 5pm you'll get the storage managers Email telling you the tenant paid so you no longer won the unit. THIS PEOPLE ARE A JOKE AND PLAY TO MANY GAMES.
I WONE THE UNIT AT 10 AM BUT THE TENANT WAS ALLOWED TO RECUPERATE THE UNIT AFTER THE AUCTION HAS ALREADY ENDED.

Legit
July 12, 2020

I purchased my first unit through Storage Treasures on 7/7/2020. After reading all these eronious, my opinion, reviews I was skeptic. After winning the auction located over 2 hours away I drove the gas saving 4 cylinder to secure the unit before renting a trailer and taking the gas guzzling V8. We got there and the transaction was as smooth as silk. Our unit had a safe in it, let me tell everyone, you cannot bid as if the safe is full. I have picked safes up and shaken them, heard rattling (coins I thought) and paper. Got it busted open, keys and a bunch of cards accumulated over the years from birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and even Halloween. Makes you think how greedy of the family to remove the valuables but leave what was so sentimental to there loved one. The safe from our storage unit wasn't that great either but it was the second safe I have busted open that had some value inside. Contents included one silver ring, one gold ring, and a watch. I actually got more in gold and silver value out of the three unseen jewelry boxes. Also hidden in the unit was a 1950's Lionel Train set. I am pleased with my transaction and look forward to future endeavors. Almost forgot to mention that the people at CubeSmart were awesome. I was given a dresser and headboard ( Made in Italy), the headboard is the heaviest headboard I have ever touched, they had been storing for a while.

Thieves
July 8, 2020

I was bidding on an auction and when the time expired I was the high bidder. Suddenly the time jumped back to over 2 hours with me being outbid. After talking with them they said that they were having problems with updating payment information so management decided to extend the time to make it fair for all bidders. FAIR FOR ALL BIDDERS?! What about the ones you just stole auctions from after time had expired.

The first time my auction was cancelled because the facility I've used had a restriction for their tenants to sell their stuff.
After moving to another location, my auction was cancelled for having 2 accounts with them. The third time, just because they felt like it i guess. No explanation.
All of my auctions were posted as a private seller. I believe that they don't want anyone selling their stuff here. Very disappointed.
Worse experience ever.

I work a professional job a do this on the side. Know what your getting into people. Your going to buy units u wish u never bought, this is a numbers game and takes WORK. I have bought 30 + units and have amassed equipment for another business I'm opening and other items for resale and have generally come out ahead. I see alot of overbidding since the Coronavirus outbreak. You must be disciplined in your bidding and willing to work like any other business and be willing to walk away from units with inflated bids.It is very time consuming to sort through these units and you must do your research on the front end to make educated decisions. Go to storage units that are trustworthy. Storage Treasures is only a broker to who u are really dealing with. I primarily deal with one storage unit company and have a great relationship with them and no issues. Out of the 30 plus units I have bought 2 have been blow your mind fantastic, 25 have been good or average and 5 I wish I had not bought. My research, past knowledge of antiques and work ethic are the only things that have made this work. Nothing like the TV show!

Won a storage unit online, the unit was paid for by the original Tennant the morning of the auction, spoke with storage treasures about it, customer service rep promised to call back before the end of business to schedule my refund, that call never happened, have left 2 messages as well as 2 emails, no one will respond, no money has been returned to me. Customer service is horrible, and I pay a monthly subscription fee to this company. Absolutely horrible way to do business. I understand it takes time to issue a refund, but it doesn't take a lot of effort to take a customer's phone call or return a message to reassure them. Will be letting everyone I know that bids online here to beware. Please use this company with caution.

Crazy
March 11, 2020

Won an auction. REPEATED the gate key back to the site over the phone. Get there does not work. No one on site. Call the number 30 minutes on hold. Storage auctions called them. 3 hours later they called me back when I was back home from a 2 hour round trip drive. Still didnt give me the gate key to get to the unit. It took 2 days. I'm good on storage auctions.

Hello All,

I contacted storage treasures because an auction I bid on appeared to have been gone through and photos were taken of a guitar then placed back in the case and another photo taken. Actually, it was obvious.
I called customer service at storage treasures, they acknowledged it was an issue, BUT to my surprise they claimed it was not violating any law or their policy.
It is well established that the storage facility would have to take ownership before entering, let alone touch or go through belongings. I feel bad for those who rights are trampled, personal effects gone thru! Not good.
Storage Treasures, Shame On You!
They should not allow those activities on their site soley for the purpose of profiting! Or for any reason...
Furthermore, many storage facilities do not want to retain personal belongings for auction. Units, such as photos or tax docs; that is illegal. Apparently, Storage Treasures does not require a facility follow storage laws and to retain those docs. Bad Business...
