Storage Company Fraud
January 24, 2020

We were ripped off by Storage Treasures, because the manager of the storage facility where we won an auction demanded that we pay $450, which is DOUBLE of one month's rent, before he would let us pick up the auction on the next available day he would be there. This is unreasonable and there should be NO additional expenses because that is NOT included in the contract/agreement. The storage facility then refused to refund me for the money they claim is theirs, so now they have collected sales tax on the same goods TWICE, What a scam!

If you goto storage auctions live, you will notice that some lockers are messy with items hanging out of boxes and strewn about. But there are at least as many units that are clean and organized with no open boxes, things stacked neatly... etc. Every locker in Storagetreasues.com is messy with open boxes and things in disarray. 99.9%.

Think about it logicallly if you have not been in person. For example, there are many people who rent storage and go to it exactly twice: once to load it and once to empty it, perhaps months or years later. Their stuff is all sealed boxes except for the funriture, Things are stacked neatly andi sensibly. You never see this in a storagetreasure locker.

It's interstatre fraud and the FBI should investigate

Never had a problem
October 3, 2019

The only thing I don't like is when it gives us specific time for ending the auction if your bidding back and forth with someone they keep changing the time up another 5 minutes which I don't think is fair that's just them trying to get the most money possible. I've been using storage auctions for about two and a half years now I've one about 8 to 10 storage units and I've always had a positive outcome! I've never encountered any problems with any of the storage units that I've showed up at. If you like to bid units online I highly recommend using storage treasures.com

A great concept, but this company has very little control over shill bidding and quality control. The picture formatting is poor for how large of a company it is. You can't zoom in on pictures, which is an important thing to do when trying to see details in pictures. The pictures always close when looking at them which is more of an annoyance.

To battle shill bidding and scam management, in my opinion you need to show customers who is the high bidder. They don't show who is the high bidder at any point during the auction. Also, once the auction is over it disappears, leaving no history of the auction. It would be nice to know what username / bidder is winning certain auctions in your area. I've followed 30-40 auctions that end with historic prices, with half of them coming back the next month again. Did they not pay or did the shill bidder go to far? There are too many sketchy factors for me to feel positive about this website.

I've had 7-8 occasions where I'm contacted by Storage Treasures after the auction is over offering 2nd chance offers. This means whoever won the auction didn't pay. I've declined every time and have seen most of them go up for auction again. Some 3-4 times. I feel like these units were bid up by whomever and then they didn't pay. For example I had a max bid of $1,500 on a unit in Seattle and within 2 days it was bid up to $1,510. The unit sold for $1,510 and I got a call the next day from Storage Treasures offering me a 2nd chance offer for $1,500. It seemed weird so I declined. The unit was relisted again the next month and sold for $340. The same unit came up again the next month and then sold for $80. What the heck is going on here?

This is only speculation, but I'm starting to wonder with a fee based revenue format if Storage Treasures has fake accounts in place to bid units up. It would be easy to do and with nobody knowing who's bidding / winning units there's no trace to the public. With thousands of units up for auction every month across the country the potential is there for them to earn tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional fees.

I love live auctions and am super bummed that storage auction buying has come down to this sketchy scam riddled model.

Same unit reappearing
August 20, 2019

I won an auction and arrived at the facility within 10 minutes of the end of the auction.
I was advised that the property manager has allowed the owner of the unit to keep it. I contacted Storage Treasures to discover this could happen. I was asked if the person had paid for their unit, I assumed yes because I would not know. I was refunded my fees and yet that same facility has placed that same unit up for auction a total of 3 times. It is on the site now. I was originally the winning bidder and I was confused as to why I was not offered this unit after the apparent default by the owner. Seems like a sketchy way to do business not only for this particular storage facility but Storage Treasures allowed this to happen.

FRAUD ALERT
April 23, 2019

BUYER BEWARE BOUGHT A UNIT FROM A FRAUDULENT SELLER... We purchased a unit for about 4K. The seller was listed as a "bonding company". Upon taking possession of the unit we could see that is was STAGED. All the boxes were stuffed with random worthless items. The unit was made to look more valuable. The items in and behind the boxes were mix match and poor quality. We notified all parties involved immediatly. Come to find out the company was fake and they had a complaint filed with ST a month prior from another buyer. Apparently ST does NOT have a strong vetting process. DESPITE having a complaint against the same seller, they allowed them to continue without a thurough investigation. Seems as though they are attempting to escape all responsibility. We will never see the $3200 from the scammers and ST has refused to refund the $ we were defrauded. Since all paymemts have to be paid in CASH prior to having access, tougher vetting is a MUST!

I bid on a locker online and won the locker, I won't say which facility But, I went in my transit van expecting I could clear the locker in two trips, to my amazement I did it in one trip.
The reason became evident when I got home, I looked at photo of won locker only to see half of it was missing, i bid on & look at so many it never crossed my mind how much was missing. Turns out the facility used an old photo taken when the tenant defaulted, but paid at last minute, so was cancelled, then defaulted again so went to auction again, but what no one realised the tenant had been in and removed half of locker goods. Obviously this should have been re-photographed and checked, but equally I should have checked against the photo when first opening locker.
I emailed both facility and storage treasures, and it was storage treasures that intervened and got me a partial refund, that I was happy with, so 10 out of 10 for storage treasures.com
I'm reasonably new to storage auctions but I'm not new to business, so remember it pays to be nice, be civil and people will be civil to you, and if you can't accept that, don't bid and buy.
Happy customer
John

Customer since 2015. Never had any issue until I was cussed at by a facility manager in december 2018 and then he lied about what happened. He got to sell the units to someone else and storage treasures kept my $40 or so in buyers fees. Storage treasures then told me that they should ban me because I cussed at the manager even though he cussed at me. Funny how they chose to keep my money and let me stay on the website if it was all my fault then why not ban me? Because then they wouldn't get to keep my money and they wouldn't get to make money off of me in the future. They also downgraded my account which means that instead of getting the 10% buyers premium which I PAID FOR! They downgraded me to normal buyers premium which is 15% without telling me at all! Then I bought a unit on 4/9/19 and AFTER I WAS CHARGED I FOUND THAT I WAS DOWNGRADED AND INSTEAD OF PAYING 10% FOR A BUYERS PREMIUM THEY CHARGED ME 15% AND WHEN I CALLED THEY BASICALLY SAID OH WELL WE COULD AND SHOULD HAVE BANNED YOU BUT WE DIDNT. SO NO YOU'RE NOT KEEPING MY MONEY PERIOD. I HAVE TO USE THIS WEBSITE BECAUSE THE FACILITIES IN MY AREA USE THEM BUT I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM IF I COULD AVOID IT. NICK AND DIMING YOUR CUSTOMERS IS A VERY POOR BUSINESS MODEL. LOOK AT ALL OF THE OTHER REVIEWS...

Scam dishonest
January 16, 2019

Where do I start first auction I bid it on they had a mistake and they wouldn't take my bid and told me the auction had to go the time it was set. But on Monday they added three minutes on that auction to make more money the mattresses where all stained they wouldn't let me see my units I bought until I pay for them folks they can run you up without a bidder. Both units went for$10 less than my maximum bid. Do yourself a favor and go to a regular storage auction when I asked storage facility why they didn't disclose that mattress was all Stained on one side they said they didn't know you cannot convince me they don't go in and check that unit before they sell it. He is the two reviews that I sent somehow we're deleted

I had the worst experience buying a storage unit in Wildomar, CA. Pictures showed a storage unit pretty full with lots of antiques. I won the unit for $330. It was a private seller Synergy-Private Seller. We get there to pay and the lady Brigdette, Thomas's daughter was very rude. Her first words to me were "A: you owe me money". How rude! And then she goes to tell me that everything in the unit isn't in the auction, only what you see in the front! What a rip off! They are complete liars! I will never purchase from synergy ever again! We canceled and were able to get our money back since Storage Treasures said they weren't allowed to do that. Don't ever buy from Synergy! They will rip you off! They have a horrible reputation! Everyone else who bought from the same storage facility that was from synergy had the same problem! Do not waste your time! Pictures are the displayed auction pictures we bid on.

Didn't have any issues with the website. Everything was easy to follow and well explained. The storage facilities however stage items and don't provide a complete picture of the unit. The more photos the better including the floor. You can usually tell if its been rummaged through. You also can't smell the unit and photos sometimes don't show mice crap. Lesson learned. Attend live auctions only and view them cutting off the lock. Most listed on this site have already been gone through. I'm sure some are legit but your going off a photo of a unit someone has opened. Too much risk. As far as the site. It worked just know what your risk is.

I was winning an auction by about half of my max bid. 10 seconds before the auction was to end, 3 days were added to the time. There is no logical reason for the auction to be extended like that except they were not happy with the amount the auction was ending at. This is not how auctions work and is probably not even legal.
A call to both storage treasures and the facility (who both talked to each other before giving me an answer) ended up with an excuse that made no sense based on the fact that the auction continued for 3 more days and I was finally outbid.
I was told the tenant was a long time tenant and they wanted to give her more time. If this is true, why put it up in the first place? Why not pull the auction and restart it later? Too many shady things can and do happen with online storage auctions like shill bidding, rummaging through lockers, and now adding days to the auction until they get what they want. Back to live in person auctions for me.

Screwed out of an auction
September 24, 2018

I was the high bidder, I watched the auction wind down to 0. It flipped over to "Final High Bid" with my bid listed and a message that I was the high bidder. I looked at it for a bit, the clock never restarted to add 3 minutes. I was certain I won. I walked away.

5 or 10 minutes later I came back and somehow I had been outbid and the auction was closed. I have liked StorageTreasures but this just makes me feel cheated and I feel I can't trust the website.
