Vinted is a great way to sell items it's platform is really easy to work with no complications until it comes to certain members damaging Vinted reputation it seems anyone can sell or purchase an item and immediately changed there mind after a transaction has been completed, one just brushes away the purchase (money already in place) to either resell to another buyer at a higher price or just resell through Vinted at a different price
For me if some one sell there item it should be a binding contract for instance I have recently had 4 sellers do a u turn on me once they have agreed to sell recently a seller called - seller 223 advertised an item to which I bought and completed the sale to cancel the sale 2 days later after my transaction to then re sell the same item in Vinted …?
Why should this be allowed it's making Vinted lose credibility as a serious company when sellers can just re sell the same item at a higher price
This bad practice wastes time and holds up money within the transaction there should be some control on this bad practice sellers in particular should be held accountable for the dodgy dealings in cheating the buyer and Vinted reputation the seller should be looked at more closely and if the see bad practice they should not allow the seller to resell advertise the same item twice

Pros and cons to Vinted

I'm both a seller and a buyer on Vinted and so far my experience has been pretty positive. I once miss sold a dress completely by accident (I had 2 similar dresses both at different sizes and labelled the wrong size on each post). I refunded the buyer and told them to keep it as an apology.

I've bought quite a lot now and other than something not fitting/ not suiting (that can happen anywhere you buy from) it's all been good.

I had one pair of shoes I bought which were more damaged than expected and I've had 2 people not send items which I'm awaiting refunds for however the refunds will be coming through in the next day or two.

I've sold hundreds of pounds worth of clothes (just normal fashion items, nothing designer) with only the one issue (mentioned previously).

I have got a few items waiting at the post office to be collected though which is frustrating as I don't know what happens if they don't collect.

The only disappointing part about it is that all shipping takes a good few days, then you have to wait for the person to mark as ok (or 2 days) so you can be waiting 10+ days for monies to clear and then once it's cleared, bank transfers take up to 5 working days too.

Also I've found no way to track when a payment has been sent/ received from Vinted so it's hard to know what's already cleared without going back through every transaction on both Vinted and your bank account.

As with anything, there's pros and cons and will always be people who ruin it for us decent buyers and sellers but personally, it's really helped with my hoarding and also I don't feel so guilty only wearing something once as I know I can sell it one, they'll probably do the same and so on meaning it's better for the environment than my previous habits (not perfect but definitely better).

Overall fairly satisfied!

Scam alert Vinted
June 20, 2022

Please do not put your bank details in the Vinted app. I did that to try to sell an item to a very very keen buyer but was scammed £96 the next day. My money was spent on various occassions and by the time I froze it and contacted bank £96 was gone. Absolute no no.

THE WORST!

I have been accused of being a commercial seller on vinted!

I am not I'm a over buying young lady and mum of 3 who is moving house and needs to seriously declutter!
I have provided them with multiple reciepts showing I am making a huge loss on unreturned and unworn clothes and they just keep responding with the same generic reply.
Not treating me as an individual but generalising. Im so beyond annoyes and disgusted. It's impossible to speak to someone properly or make a complaint!

This site is the biggest scam going. At some point if you are a seller and have funds waiting to be transferred to you - YOU WILL NOT GET THE MONEY YOU HAVE EARNED. Vinted will give you the run around for a while asking for bank statements, telling you to contact the bank etc but they will keep your money and there is nothing you can do about it. They also have people working in the forums pretending that they are customer or sellers saying they have been paid in order to give you hope but its all a lie. Vinted are trying to recoup the money they were fined for selling from sellers. There are hundreds of sellers who have not been paid their money many of them get blocked from the site for complaining or just give up and close their accounts. Vinted should not even be allowed to advertise they are a bunch of scammers.

Don't expect much

I've bought and sold a lot on Vinted but recently stopped. Full of cheapskate buyers trying to drive prices down when the item is already at a very low price (such as offers of 70p when item is already only £2.50). Be sure to weigh parcel as often postage costs more than seller pays. Encountered a seller too dumb to understand she needs to use a pen and paper to WRITE the delivery address on the parcel as she expected a separate payment or label, she didn't understand that when payment is made it includes cost and postage, settings are up to her. Another seller cancelled my transaction saying they received no money and I was being refunded (the money I supposedly didn't pay) not realising payment is made AFTER both parties declare item is received and satisfied. Make sure description is clear, ask questions about items otherwise the "dress" advertised may actually be a waistcoat with a split at the back meaning your bum is exposed and the front does not fasten so you cannot wear it to a funeral as planned.
Does not give you the option to choose exactly what courier you use when buying, resulting in taking weeks for local deliveries and several "lost" (stolen) packages. Lockers and Hermes have lost around 5 of my items. Buyer pays "seller protection fee" yet buyer is not protected. Vinted encourage discrepancies to be paid using other methods outside their platform which is irresponsible. Automatic 5 star feedback left even if there is an ongoing, unresolved issue. If item is returned to sender (common for some reason even if seller information not on parcel) then buyer loses out on payment and the item. Sellers at risk of buyer being refunded but keeping the item. Make sure to read seller/buyer reviews beforehand.

I seen this seller selling handmade products. I thought this is NOT allowed on Vinted. I used to sell handmade products too and they blocked my account straight away. Some sellers selling HANDMADE products already got more than 100 reviews which means they've been on vinted for awhile now. How did this happen. There are a lot of them in the site but not been blocked at all. It says there's 1.8M handmade products on this site. How can my account be blocked and others are not? Please give me a clear explanation because it doesn't look fair.

Scammers

Have a terrible experience with Vinted. Ordered trainers and received an empty envelope. Have all prove that I have been scammed even an email from the delivery driver that it had been posted through the letterbox and never received a refund! Customer service was very unhelpful will never use that app again. Can't believe that I paid buyer protection fees, have been scammed (70£) and have never received a refund! This app is not only full of scammers, Vinted themselves scammers also!

Scammers

Bought a pair of new Nike trainers from vinted for £60 however, the seller/scammer sent me an envelope with a piece of cardboard inside, when I contacted vinted for a refund and sent them proof of delivery of the cardboard inside, they said I had to discuss this with the seller. I explained in several emails that the seller is not responding to any messages and has deliberately scammed me. Vinted suggested I get I contact with evri their delivery company to query the delivery. I then realised vinted is giving me the "run around" and have no intention of reimbursing me after a fraud took place under their website. Vinted have not responded to my questions as to why we pay buyers protection fee if their not willing to reimburse me I also requested a call from a manager and nothing to date. I will never use this awful unprofessional company ever again as they have left a sour taste in my mouth

This company has the worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of using. Items not delivered by hopeless couriers and yet you have to wait four weeks to raise an issue and worst this has to be in two working days…. Or tough luck.

I've had 4 items lost by the courier.

Impossible to actually speak to anyone. And the they ask me the buyer to find out about the package with the seller.

Completely amateur.

In 2022 having to wait 4 weeks for a refund is pathetic.

Avoid.

So far I spent 60 quid returning items that were blatantly fake, the money comes out of my own pocket, despite Vinted charging me "buyer protection" 2 items were also super fake, they declared them as authentic despite an independent authenticator (I paid for that as well) saying they were bad fakes. I bought Aquazzura and Gucci shoes, they were both unbranded items, sellers claimed they look like it and since they didn't say they are authentic they can list them as brands - Vinted does NOTHING. Basically people can send you any old rubbish and you have to pay to send it back, obviously you have to pay for insurance and tracking, the scammers then put the items on again to scam somebody else, you can report fake items they are not taken off. I have now contacted Trading Standards with a formal complaint as Vinted is actually helping scammers and despite claiming fakes are not allowed on their platform, they do nothing to prohibit them and make the buyer, who acts in good faith pay for the return of said fake items, then let the scammers relist the items again! Gucci shoes without a serial number or even a size, clearly fake, they claim "We can't authenticate, you have to pay for sending back then we will give you the money once the seller confirms they got them back" - Aquazzura shoes that are labeled with the no name brand Cortas "We can't authenticate..." the seller "retrodolls" does not confirm receipt

Royally Scammed

Got scammed by a seller on a pair of Dior sunglasses, the seller wouldn't refund and Vinted baced up their scam without question... I will never buy from Vinted again and warn any purchaser to double check before sending money as you wo t get it back if it's a scam seller.

Full of scammers, orders a Nintendo switch and instead received the smallest plastic envelope! I refused the package at the shop and sent vinted all photo proofs, clearly showing all angles and labels with close up of the references etc… they still haven't reimbursed me! They are saying we need to wait for the package to be returned to the seller?!?! What package? I received nothing! Shameful, they should be taken down

DO not use them, it will just cause you a lot of problems. I bought and sold on there and I had to worry about the buyer claiming the item wasnt there as you are forced to use only the yodel service now, it didnt happen but on the buyer side of things I had a terrible experience, I recieved first the wrong item and had to pay to return it, then I recieved a disgusiting unclean and damaged item and I was told by customer service that I had to pay to return it. Their buyer protection does noting and as a buyer you end up paying while the seller gets off scott free.

RIP OFF VINTED

Delivery didn't arrive Vinted refuse refund despite proof no items were delivered to me they went ahead and paid sellers
Vinted were sent advisory legal letter which they ignored completely Now a court case will be set but as Vinted is not registered by UK Trading Standards therefore making it an unregistered business there is no guarantee they will comply with court action They clearly believe they can act outside the legal licensed trading laws BBC Watchdog are now complying a programme about Vinted after numerous complaints sent about them

Once your payment are unsuccessful and appear as "server error" or "your bank dont honor this transaction" but money was taken from bank account and stuck as pending, Vinted use this excuses to rip you off from your money and you never even notice how. I explain how Vinted company stealing money.
How they work: Your money has been collected from your bank and shows as pending transaction, but on vinted notification shows that payment failed for any stupid reason. Then
Vinted never send to your bank a reverse code for failed transaction, instead they telling you will recieve money back in 3-5 days. Because bank is never notified of reverse payment by Vinted therefore your bank is forced to wait 1 month to realise this money back to your balance. (not 3-5 days)
After one month waiting for your money, you can notice that pending balance is gone and money actualy has been collected by Vinted, which means Vinted just stole your money!
So be careful as VINTED COMPANY ARE THIEFS.
Check your bank account daily after shopping on Vinted, check status of payment and when money was collected.

Absolutely shocking customer service my vintage account was hacked someone put their address for my items I explained this for two weeks until I had to make a claim to the bank they banned me from Vinted
Ended up getting it back off my bank then only to be took off me again

I have bought several items from this site and it has been a horrendous experience 75% of the time. Wrongly labelled, fake, falling apart. I have received 4 items out of the purchased that have arrived as promised and customer service and seller redress is stressful, time consuming and mostly useless. Even when you can send the stuff back the buyer is responsible for return postage. This leaves the buyer at a loss and no loss for the seller except the five minutes to post! All very wrong.

Such bad customer service, do not use. A buyer damaged my item then returned it and vinted sided with the buyer and gave them a refund, now I can't sell my item as it's damaged which I showed in pics. The buyer was sonicwilson
