They made me pay more then what they said I would have to when I got the service. I wasn't informed when things changed. The amount of money I had to make more was not worth it for the service I got. I would not recommend it unless your ok with paying more then you should. I am very glad that I have switched. Straight talk is better by a lot the plan says the same about of money and great service. That I would recommend.
NEVER purchase ANY phone from them. This was my horrific protracted experience started with Consumer Cellular and the reason I canceled them without ever having a connection to their network. I can provide ALL documentation to validate my experience.
It began when unbeknownst to me, they sold me a LOCKED iPhone 2022SE which was a back and forth nightmare exchange of 3 dysfunctional different phones. After that fiasco, I successfully TERMINATED my "non-service", as I NEVER connected to their network, in the less than the 30 day guarenteed satisfaction time period. Now they REFUSE to unlock it for a different carrier and FAILED TO ever mention I have to have "active" service for 180 DAYS BEFORE they will unlock it. I believe this QUALIFIES AS EXTORTION since I never had "active" service.
Clearly, J. D. Power is an unlaughable joke! Because this is the worst customer service ever EVER!
Run away from Consumer Cellular quickly! DON'T LOOK BACK!
I wouldn't even rate them a one star, but had to, to leave my review. I just got off the phone with consumer cellulars sales department and customer service department. Talk about the WORST EXPERIENCE, i've ever had with a cellular company. They talk over the customer while speaking #1, Then their attitude's were attroshish. Very disrespectful of a customers questions. It's like your dealing with young kid's that don't wanna listen, and just run on with their mouth's. I mean really, they've turned me off so much, that I ended up hanging up on them. Not a way to get new customers if you ask me. I won't be purchasing service from them ever. And I would feel highly sorry with those that ever do. I can see why they deal with seniors more, because they can probably just take advantage of them. Consumer Cellular isn't what they claim on television advertisement what so ever.
I tried to return a brand new iPhone 11 I only handled phone for 3 days. They declined return and dropped insurance in one fell swoop. Said there was damage-microscopic chip in center of screen. It took me awhile to find it, but I know I didn't cause it. Was probably there when I got it. They say I'm responsible for damage to phone while in transit. Mgmt flatly refused to help. They are underhanded, and unconcerned with Cust satisfaction. This is the worst customer svc I ever got in my life! I'm half convinced they are running a scam on cell phone purchases, too many other people with the same scenario. Please look into this
So me and my mother decided to order from this website so we created an account and we put an iPhone 11 we got a plan and it was 58 due today we were excited because it was so cheap after we were done with that we thought we were done they emailed her saying call them to verify it's her it took them 1 hour to to put an agent on the call and they told us to verify we gave them everything they needed and then they said call back later to do something in the account so the phone can ship so we did after that we called back and they didn't even put an agent on at all. So we had to get callback request and they didn't call back until two days later. After everything was done they told us my mom's credit score was too bad to get it after they took us that far even took the money off her card they said that just now? I do not recommend this company they are a scam and they waste your time till they come up with a problem to not get you service also my mom never had any impact on her credit because we check every month so this is a warning don't order from here!
I haven't been with Consumer Cellular's but one month and they've already hit me for a $500 bill a phone didn't work in the 15 day grace. I sent back and they wouldn't except it so now I've got a $500 useless phone. Stay away from these folks don't use Consumer Cellular go with anybody besides them thank you you've been warned.
Not only did I gave issues with service when I went to cancel an close my account they denied my #'s an didn't close my account still charged me 2 months that I didn't use an then charged me over 300. Took the unauthorized funds out of my account. I would never trust them!
I am a single mom and trying to find ways to cut down on any of my bills. I don't normally use much data, so I thought I could save if I switch to Consumer Cellular. My first month was good but then after a couple of months, my monthly bill went up higher and higher and I ended up paying more than what I used to pay with another service provider. But that was not my only problem, when I needed to call or text my son, my calls and text messages did not go through, so I could not reach him. When I needed driving instruction, it did not work. I felt like having my phone was useless. Yesterday, I decided it was time to switch, so I contacted them to request for the transfer pin. The first representative I talked was okay, but she was not very kind in providing that. Unfortunately, my son did not receive the transfer pin. So I called again, and after being put on hold for about 30 mins., I finally got someone on the other end. Unfortunately, she was very mean and started yelling at me and how my transfer pin numbers have been sent. I told myself, "I'm glad I decided to switch"! If they cannot treat me with respect now, then they will not treat me with respect later. These people should remember to treat their customers with kindness and respect; they never know those customers might decide to come back later on if they received excellent customer service. But apparently, they are just going to be nasty.
After receiving our latest bill from Verizon with a large price increase, we decided to switch our cellular service to Consumer Cellular. They had nice commercials and promoted their low-cost service for senior citizens. Unfortunately, the switch was not as simple as we expected.
Consumer Cellular is supported by a US based customer service organization, and the majority of them had no idea what they were doing. They attempt to provide customers with customer service and technical support using a manual which was not easy to follow. What I kept hearing from them were excuses why our phones were not working instead of providing us with solutions.
Anyhow, our switch to Consumer Cellular was a painful experience, and if we had to do it once again, we would not repeat the same mistake.
Our problem started with the SIM cards Consumer Cellular provided us to support our switch from Verizon. Unfortunately, one of the SIM cards they mailed to us was bad. The technical support person in our local Target store was helpless. He was an independent contractor with limited technical knowledge and limited commitment/ability to solve our issues. He was being treated very poorly by his management and it reflected in his attitude toward us as Consumer Cellular customers. He managed to install the SIM cards provided to us by Consumer Cellular but could not overcome the incompetency of the Consumer Cellular representatives with whom he was speaking on the phone. When something didn't work the generic solution provided by the Consumer Cellular representative was to Change a SIM card. We ended up with two useless cell phones with no ability to receive phone calls or send/receive text messages.
After changing a few SIM cards with no real solution to our ongoing operational issues, and after wiping one of our phones clean by one of the Consumer Cellular contractors, my wife ended up in the Apple store. A very efficient associate referred her back to the Verizon store (to pay our outstanding bill). The associate at Verizon was familiar with this issue and told her the problem was with Consumer Cellular. The ports for our two cell phones were not setup correctly. When my wife called Consumer Cellular, her call was transferred to the right level, who apologized profusely and took care of the issue right away. Both our phones were back to normal that evening.
Caitlin was especially helpful today. Very attentive and professional. She went the full nine yards to offer us better service.
We switched to CC last Dec because of a good promotion and after much frustration and misinformation ended up having to purchase phones from the company. It took months to get the credit correct on our account from loss of service while they fixed their mistakes. The actual cell service us the only thing I am happy about. The cust service is horrible. We recently found out that our old devices are actually compatible with their service, but they won't enable Volte on their sim cards to get calls to work. Money is all they care about.
It was fine for a couple of months. Then my phone wouldn't make or take calls. No data, so no directions while driving, no music or texts. Same with my husbands phone. After many calls to CC (many hours on the phone) and trying many things, they told me I could pick either phone calls and text or data and picture texts but not both. This went on for 2 1/2 months. After more calls they got most of it worked out but still couldn't make calls sometimes and my husbands phone would only send or receive texts on wifi. So 7 months now and I had my bank charge back 2 months. They got back one month from the bank by showing that we could make some calls and text some. Then they turned off our service for the month that our bank gave us and said if we wanted it turned back on that we had to pay that month back plus a $5 late fee. I called them to try and work this out because why should I pay for the full service when only getting about 1/3 of the service? They said that since we got "some" service that they could not give us any money back. So much for their top notch customer service and great prices. Going to Mint Mobile!
I signed up for consumer cellular 3 days ago, with my own phone, and they still don't work. And can't get in touch with anyone. I might go back to Verizon
I noticed in May of 2022 how bad and rude and un-knowledge Consumers customers service have become!
Prices were great but the service was terrible spent 10 days trying to call and receive not worth the savings
We have used Consumer Cellular for several years in the US and been satisfied overall. However, we recently travelled in Canada and our phone did not work at all although we had called Consumer Cellular in advance and were assured that we would have service. We were in Yukon, BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. No service anywhere. Now they are saying they don't guarantee there will be service in Canada.
Very unhappy with Consumer Cellular. I moved my service over in June and when I set it up I bought a new phone for me. I asked if it was unlocked and was told no but after 30 days of service I could have it unlocked. I was planning a trip in September so that was ok with me. I called today to get it unlocked and now am being told that I have to wait 6 months due to Apple rules. I called apple and they said they do not have a rule like that. It is up to the carrier on what they want. I would not recommend Consumer Cellular the customer support was very disappointing.
I bought a Consumer Cellular ZTE Max 10 (phones have their name on them and not ZTE) and I have had nothing but trouble with this phone. Consumer Cellular does not stand by their product. After about 4 months of doing everything possible, I called them to see if I could get another phone as this one is no good. They told me all I could do was buy another phone. So basically they can sell you garbage and take your money with no recourse for you if you get a lemon.
The worst company to get service--if you can even call it that!
Customer Service is a joke. And when I called to cancel the rep was very RUDE.
Internet connection always going down the Rabbit Hole where Little Alice went.
And even after you cancel, they try to milk you for one last caboodle (mine was $71.25 a month after I cancelled).
Trust me, folks. Do not use this service. Save yourself the headache--and the CON!
I was a long term customer of Consumer Cellular. Years and years of calling for help by those "pleasant" customer service representatives for things as simple as paying my bill to issues with phones bought through the company. They sell used phones as new and the long, long, long hold times when attempting to resolve an issue with a phone take frustration to a whole new level. They have a way of telling you more of what they can't do than what they actually can. Please, please, please do not be fooled by the new advertisements on tv. As a senior citizen, I am appalled at the lengths they are using to try to restore their reputation. I'm also very disgusted with the fact that the JD Power award has been given to them year after year. I called JD Power and they tell me that there are more positive reviews than negative... LOL have they read them? All of them? I suspect that most of the positive reviews are paid reviews. I also believe in honesty, integrity and transparency. None of which this company holds precious. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Caveat Emptor!
