The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, particularly concerning its subscription model and customer service. Many users report unauthorized charges, difficulties in canceling subscriptions, and a lack of responsive support, leading to perceptions of deceptive practices. While some customers acknowledge the potential value of the service for avid readers, these positives are overshadowed by frustrations with the platform's functionality and the quality of customer interactions. Overall, the feedback indicates a pressing need for improved communication and more transparent billing practices to restore customer trust.

... and they do not want to credit back... scammers...I complained and they said I did not cancel, so I had to block my card, to make sure they do not withdraw again.
Did the free trial and received no e-mail that they were about to start charging me as they stated they would. So I'm out 2 months with a product I never used. Needless to say I'm not happy.

They give you a free trial for a month and say "Don't worry, we'll email you before your trial ends." but THEY DON'T! They charged me with 98€ without asking me anything! Thieves!
Hi Koen, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're so sorry for any frustration this might have caused, especially if you didn't receive our free trial reminder email!
It looks like a member of our support team followed up with you in support ticket #4954487 to confirm that your subscription was canceled and a refund was granted for that renewal charge as well. Of course, if you have any other questions or concerns, we're happy to help - just reply to that ticket and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks again! -MW
Is scam and they maybe try to collect your data through login access
If you want to download document, download it or buy it. Mot login at first and must upload 5 documents
Hi Alif, we're so sorry if this caused any concern for you! While there may be some cases where full versions of documents may only be visible or downloadable to Scribd subscribers, we may offer upload benefits to free members who choose to share their content with us. If you'd like to learn more about this, please reach out to us through this link http://bit.ly/social-support-help and we'll be happy to help. Thank you!
I gave notice to cancel my subscription as per their instructions on their site. They have since continued to take payments off my account, sometimes twice in a month and attempts to communicate with them have failed. My account says it's been terminated but they still continue to take my money. Will NEVER subscribe to them again.
Hi Belinda, thank you for bringing this to our attention - though our sincerest apologies for any frustration this may have caused! If you've received duplicate charges from us in one month then this means you may have a duplicate account in our system.
It looks like a member of our support team has responded to your support ticket #4943082 to request some additional information from you, so if you could please respond directly to that ticket, we'd be happy to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you again! -MW
It says they will notify you after 1 month trial. They didn't. I tried to cancel and they then tried to charge me. Books I wanted to read during free trial kept disappearing. This is not an honest company
Hello Cathy, I wanted to reach out to you to see if I could help explain any charges, messages you are seeing about unavailable books and answer any other questions you may have. I can also see if your account is eligible for a refund. If you have a support ticket please let me know the number or submit a ticket through this link and your request will be escalated straight to my inbox: bit.ly/social-support-help
Thanks! -LC
This company is charging a subscription I never had. I accepted a trial which I canceled after a couple of days, this was in May. Now 17 July they charged me 10.99€ for a subscription that never existed. They do not answer the support tickets, neither the emails. Be careful with their offers.
Hi there, and thanks for bringing this to our attention! We understand you're concerned about being charged and we'd be happy to look into this for you. Since we cannot bill you for a canceled subscription, it's likely the charges are linked to an unsuccessful cancelation or even a duplicate account. If you've created a support ticket, can you please provide your latest support ticket #? Alternatively, you can create a new ticket through this link: http://bit.ly/social-support-help. Once we receive your ticket #, a member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks again! -MW
I was charged before my free trial ended and I have been unable to get a refund. They claim that someone linked my info to their account and even though I have told them several times that isn't my email address, they have yet to refund me (this happened early May). I have been trying to resolve this ever since. They also take up to a week to even respond to emails. Awful experience.
Hello Nicole, Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having. I am happy to help get this resolved for you but I haven't been able to locate your support ticket. Please let me know your ticket number so I can look over the account we located. If you do not know your ticket number you can submit a new ticket through this link and your request will be escalated straight to my inbox: bit.ly/social-support-help
Thanks! -LC
Although I cancelled my subscription back in 2020, Scribd continued to charge my credit card for the subscription fees. I have complained again July 2023, their AI responds with the same messages that the account is cancelled. And yes, they charged the amount again for Aug. 2023! I am now taking legal action and report them to the FBI as I am not the only victim. This is their business model!
Hello Marina, I am sorry to hear about your experience! I am happy to help explain the charges and cancel the subscription. Please share your support ticket number or you can submit a new request through this link and your request will be escalated straight to my inbox: bit.ly/social-support-help
Thanks! -LC
This is the guide to remove yourself from the eternal subscription.
So apparently, they make the confirmation page looks like a "successful cancel" but actually it's still a confirmation page. It took about 3 or 4 pages to cancel the subscription. We need to scroll down to the very bottom of the page to confirm the cancel.
What a $#*! move.

I had never heard of Scribd until I noticed that they have been taking £10.99 from my account for several months. I never signed up for this website as I do not listen to audio books. I tried to contact the company to no avail. I see that many other people have had this issue. I have been robbed of my money and I will take this to paypal and to the bank until I get my money back.
Hello Jack, Sorry to hear you have unexpected charges from us! Scribd is a digital reading subscription that brings you monthly access to the best books, audiobooks, news, and magazines. Many of our members use our website and app to read everything from bestsellers and old classics to legal documentation and instruction manuals. We also carry a wide variety of sheet music and news articles along with thousands of audiobooks. The charge you are seeing is likely for our monthly subscription fee. If you have an open support ticket please let me know the ticket number. If you have not made a support request please submit a ticket through this link: bit.ly/social-support-help
Thanks! -LC
Been a user for about 3 years now and I'm continually surprised by what I can find here, from mags, through books to audiobooks. All at a bargain price, half of ehat audible charges for 1 book a month.
I did a free trial with Scribd and then cancelled the service. They kept charging me for 17 additional months, and they have refused to pay me back.
Hello Henry, I would be happy to look over your account and see if I can help. May I have your ticket number? If you don't have a ticket number please submit a ticket through this link and your request will be escalated straight to my inbox: bit.ly/social-support-help
Thanks! -LC
My wife signed up for Scribd and when she was one day late cancelling, they charged her for a year, $120. All information she was given was that they would charge monthly, so we are shocked that they stole $120. They refuse to give the money back. I am reporting them to the Illinois Attorney General's office in hopes that a criminal investigation will be undertaken since this is clearly illegal.
Hello Mathew, I am happy to help explain any charges and look into the refund request. Did your wife submit a support request? If you have a ticket number please share it with me so I can look into the account. If not please ask her to submit a ticket through this link and the request will be escalated straight to my inbox: bit.ly/social-support-help
Thanks! -LC
I SUBMITTED 10 FILES TO THE WEBSITES AND STILL GOT TO DOWNLOAD NOTHING EVERY TIME AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS, TOTAL BS
Hi Lindy, I am very sorry to hear you were not able to get the download you need. I would like to look into this for you to see what happened. Please submit a ticket through this link and your request will be escalated straight to my inbox: bit.ly/social-support-help Thanks! -LC
Scribd is a scam site, to put it bluntly. If you don't want to subscribe to their site, they ask you to upload 5 documents before you can download (so you can read the full document, otherwise it's blurred) the document you need. You upload the documents only to receive an error as soon as you push the download button. If you want to try again, you got to upload another 5 documents, all different ones than those you previously updated! Great scam to put their grubby hands on free content and charge people for that content. Not to mention that they don't even have copyrights on that content.
Hi Caradine, we're so sorry that you ran into an issue trying to download a document! We understand this must be frustrating and we'd be happy to further investigate this. Can you please reach out to us with this link: http://bit.ly/social-support-help? Once you do so, we'll receive your new support ticket and a member of our team can follow up with you as quickly as possible. Thank you! -MW
They will tell you that they send an email out before the trial ends, but they don't. I have never used Scribd after I signed up with a trial to see how it is, and with full-time college, the sub slipped through the cracks. They are like all others, just raking in subscription money for a crappy product.
Hi Gary, while can confirm that we do send out reminder emails before a free trial renews, we're truly sorry if it wasn't received! We’d be happy to investigate this and stop any further charges, so can you please reach out to us using this link: http://bit.ly/social-support-help? Thanks! -MW
I didn't signed with them. Maybe pressed something when browsing, then they started to take money from my account, every month. Customer service rude, refund given for 2 months only. Avoid!
Can not speak with a human - never ending loop... please login... can not login account is deleted still being billed. Created two work orders no response #******* #*******.
