Shutterfly's reputation reflects a mix of strong product quality and significant customer service challenges. Many users appreciate the quality of photo books and personalized items, often highlighting the durability of products. However, recurring complaints about service delays, order inaccuracies, and inadequate customer support overshadow these positives. Customers frequently report issues with refunds, communication breakdowns, and technical difficulties on the platform. This blend of satisfaction with product quality and frustration over service reliability suggests a need for Shutterfly to enhance its customer service approach to improve overall customer experience and retention.

Terrible quality of acrylic prints and even worse customer service! It takes forever to return and get money back! Numerous calls and time on hold. Still haven't gotten my money back
I ordered 4 coffee mugs with 2 pictures on the mug from Shutterfly. I specified 15oz mugs (defaults to 11 oz). Added the pictures once I understood the interface and that was okay. Once I got to ordering through the cart I got the option to do multiple ship to: addresses, which is what I was hoping for. That's when the site really disappointed. Every time I tired (6x's) to add another ship to address the site hung. I finally just decided to have them ship the mugs to me and. Then I would ship them all manually to my friends, the site defaulted my order back to 11 oz coffee mugs.
When I got the small mugs I contacted support (chat)... and don't bother. I explained the situation to the chat person and they just parroted back to me that I got what I ordered. She apolgoized, but did not offer any solution, other than restating the obvious. I got what I ordered.
So as far as the site goes... hey Shutterfly Web Master, make sure your stuff works. And as for Shutterfly's "100 Happiness Guarantee", quit lying. I read your guarantee and that's why I ordered from your site.
Shutterfly is a company that lies.
I ordered 40 Christmas cards in November 2023. In the beginning of December I received 37 cards…I didn't count the cards when I received them and didn't realize that I was short until I addressed what I received. I immediately called Shutterfly Customer Support. They said they would expedite the additional cards…they didn't say expedite would be December 23rd which would be too late to mail for Christmas. I was advised I would receive a full refund and all I needed to do was call when I received the replacement cards and they'd send me a return label and give me all my money back. I reordered additional cards elsewhere (Walgreen's and the quality was excellent) but Shutterfly won't give me a refund. Please be aware if you're expecting to receive the exact number of items you ordered/paid for…you may be disappointed. I will NEVER order from Shutterfly again and you should not order anything from this company either.
1k prints Dull color Default crop is the top not center focal pt. All fotos = Sky. The peeps cut off
I ordered 2 of 1 book and 2 others; 4 in total. 1 printed poorly, 1 damaged. Asked them to reprint, they sent the wrong ones, asked again, sent wrong ones again. I have 6 copies of one book now. Took months for them to get the order right. Perhaps this could have gone better if they hired people who had a good command of the English language. I couldn't understand them, they obviously didn't understand me. Quality of photo books was average. Won't use them again. Photo shows 5/6 books…1 was a gift.
I was an extremely satisfied customer of Collage.com so when they went out of business I had to find an alternative. In the summer of 2023 I uploaded 8 photos to Shutterfly. Coming back to the project in December I uploaded dozens more pictures, which took me several hours. The process seemed straightforward. However when I went back in, the only pictures showing were the original eight.
The first agent I talked to couldn't find the rest; the person I was transferred to couldn't find them. I double checked that I had done everything right, so the glitch wasn't at my end. I am beyond annoyed and frustrated and am looking for another photo book site.
Order takes months to arrive (in fact still hasn't arrived, tracking date keeps showing later estimated arrival date).
Wtf I paid 65.00 to frame a digital photo I got from Etsy and it didn't even have f glass in the frame. It's white and can get dirty. F $#*!s.
I ordered Christmas cards on December 8th. I paid for shipping to be to me by December 21st. I got notified that they shipped them to me on the 18th. My next notification said delivery would be Christmas Day. I contacted customer service and the lady first off tells me that she can refund the shipping cost of my order for the inconvenience. I told her that that was not good enough. I ordered these for Christmas and now I have to get new cards to put gift cards or money in for my family and friends. She come back with the best I can do is give you a credit to your account for the next time you order of 50% of the total order. I felt I should get my money back. For one I had to get different cards and they were now not picture cards and for two I ordered well before the listed date to have before Christmas. I ended up getting these cards on December 26th! The day after Christmas.
I ordered a canvas it did not come, said it was delivered, they re-ordered. It still did not come. I spent 45 minutes on the phone to get a refund. They told me they issued a refund and the refund was short $20. I feel like it's not worth my time to even call them back again. Customer support is horrible just don't order anything from them. Ever.
The card I ordered never came. The shipping kept saying it would be delivered the next day. That is deceptive. At least if I had known they were not coming, I could have sent other cards. Terrible customer service!
I paid premium to order Shutterfly Calendar from overseas on November 27 (as a Christmas gift). A month later it had not arrived. When I tried to reach Shutterfly I only am given option to chat with the most useless chatbot and no option to leave message or reach human (or even capable AI)
I received a pillow and blanket for Christmas. The images are very clear and quality of both is great. Blanket is very cozy and full of great memories.
Twice now I have ordered from Shutterfly and twice now I have paid extra to have delivered within a certain time frame that they specify with their delivery charges and twice now they have been past their delivery statement holiday or not! And they don't even get the shipping label till the time the delivery is due at me house so they can't say it's the delivery service. Too many other places to get things done that this company offers and those other companies deliver when expected. Never again! Gave them a second shot and failed, again.
I have used Shutterfly for many years and have multiple books I made using their service. They have given my family great pleasure. With the advent of iPhones, my Nikon 6000 became obsolete. After many years, I was asked to take pictures of my grown family at a recent event. The pictures turned out wonderful and books were requested. I went to Shutterfly as I have done so many times in the past. It took two days to be able to get a new user name and password (my old one were not recognized). I uploaded my photographs and tried to create a new photo book. What was a snap 10 years age was impossible now. The algorithm used by the app automatically placed all the uploaded photos into the book completely random. Editing the book was impossible. I am not a computer wiz but I'm not stupid either. I tried multiple time to place the photographs where I wanted them but finally had to give up. It's such a shame that something that was so much fun to use has been completely ruined. I will go to another site and will not return to Shutterfly. I suggest anyone reading this go elsewhere as well. There must be a better way.
I purchased an ornament and used high resolution photos when I created it, and when the ornament came, the photos were blurry and distorted. I contacted customer service, and accepted a refund in the form of a credit to order another ornament.I was told the reason why it was fuzzy is because they have an automatic enhancement feature built into their creation system, and that you can turn this off, but for some reason it was not able to be done for the item that I purchased. I contacted a representative before placing my new order, and asked them to help me with this, and I was told that he was able to turn off the auto enhancement feature for me, and that this should not happen again with the new order. I recieved the new ornament, and it looks exactly like the previous one, distorted, fuzzy, terrible. I have experience working with photos, and understand that the quality of the photos matter whcih is why I was sure to choose images that were taken professionally and had a high resolution to them to avoid any issues. At this point, I will be keeping the terrible quality ornament, but will be looking elsewhere to purchase an ornament in future years. I wish shutterfly was what it was 20 years ago.
I ordered a custom framed and matted photo frame with three pics in it on 12/12/23 for my brother's Xmas gift. At checkout, I selected the Guaranteed Delivery option for an extra $19.99 to make sure it arrived before Xmas. The Guaranteed Delivery date at the time I placed the order was "no later than 12/22." On 12/18 I get an email from Shutterfly that the item has shipped. The next day I checked the tracking to see the progress..."arrival date - 12/26." Yes, that's 12/26, the day after Xmas. I get on chat with Shutterfly. I say I paid for Guaranteed Delivery. I'm told, "Sorry, we have a lot of orders." What?! I say I paid for Guaranteed Delivery, which Shutterfly offered, and it was to be delivered before Xmas...The rep offers to credit me for the cost of the $19.99 for Guaranteed Delivery. Wow. When Shutterfly shipped my item on 12/18, Shutterfly knew that UPS Ground was never ever going to get that item to me by 12/21, so Shutterfly should've expedited the shipping right when it was shipped, since Shutterfly offered GUARANTEED DELIVERY. Or call UPS now and change it to expedited. Or how about give me a heads up that it's not going to actually be a Guaranteed Delivery after all. Now it's 12/22 and I just checked the progress again...it still says the same thing it said on 12/18..."the item has left the facility." It also says that the next shipping update will be provided on 12/22. Well it's just about midnight on 12/22, so... For all I know, my item isn't even made yet.
I'm so frustrated with Shutterfly. I ordered cards on December 7, said they would arrive the 19th, which I thought was a little long, but now it's the 22nd and it says it still is across the country! They charge a lot for terrible service. It even says on their website that they will change the shipping to make sure you get them on time. Will NEVER use this service again.
Ordered framed print for my father in laws first Christmas without his wife. Shutterfly boasts upgraded shipping to ensure it gets there on time. It sat in his town post office for 4 days and now Shutterfly says it's lost.
Instead of offering a refund they offer credit on our next order? There will be no next order.
Ordered an ornament weeks ago and still not delivered. They make you think you are getting a good deal on a product then charge you an exorbitant amount for shipping for a product they weighs practically nothing. Total rip-off, especially when FREE shipping is so wide spread. Never again will I order, wish I could give 1/2 star.
