Shutterfly Reviews Summary

Shutterfly's reputation reflects a mix of strong product quality and significant customer service challenges. Many users appreciate the quality of photo books and personalized items, often highlighting the durability of products. However, recurring complaints about service delays, order inaccuracies, and inadequate customer support overshadow these positives. Customers frequently report issues with refunds, communication breakdowns, and technical difficulties on the platform. This blend of satisfaction with product quality and frustration over service reliability suggests a need for Shutterfly to enhance its customer service approach to improve overall customer experience and retention.

I will never buy photobooks through Shutterfly again. I wanted to take advantage of a 15% discount they had going on and use a gift card I got for baby registering with Babies R Us to make a vacation book for myself and a couple family members. These were soft cover, 8 1/2 x 11 books with only 12 sheets inside (so 24 pages). Little did I know until after I spent hours putting the books together and went to check out that A) I wouldn't be able to use the gift card and discount together, B) even with the discount the books would still be over $20 a piece before other fees and C) regular shipping would be over $17! Total was over $80

I ordered an apron for my wife's birthday. I paid extra for shipping so it would arrive on time. The website stated the delivery date was "guaranteed". It did not even ship by that date. I told them if it didn't arrive by that date to cancel the order. Instead they shipped it late. They said they would refund the extra shipping charges which they did not. The customer service rep didn't even address my questions but instead responded to something else that I didn't even ask. Please DO NOT purchase from Shutterfly, go somewhere else.

Sure they will give you a discount and promise delivery by Father's Day and then absolutely not make their promised delivery date. We were Guaranteed 2 days before Father's Day! How about 5 days later when the party is over and the guests have gone home when the book arrives? My kids made the book and were not even here to see it. Also, the last couple of changes we made on their site did not take. It was the previous two versions we designed. How that can happen I do not know! I was looking at the book online with the new edits but when the book arrived it was an old version. Once they have your money, they do not care. This is my last experience with Shutterfly. I am moving on to Snapfish next time.

I have ordered several photo books and photo prints from them. I prefer Shutterfly over other services for color, quality, and value. I store my photos and save my photo projects indefinitely. I've worked on photo books over a period of time, and also saved finished ones for re-order. Sometimes their on-line tools are glitchy. I have had to compromise. Their photo-editing tools are limited. For shipping, I would prefer it if they boxed photos instead of using thin cardstock envelopes. I'm usually able to find a promo code, but they usually won't allow multiple discounts--using a discount sometimes overrides the free shipping or other discount.

Shutterfly is not interested in you or your photo project. Don't use them. Do not trust your project to this company. Use Snapfish instead. They have higher ratings and their customer service can't be worse than Shutterfly.

I paid for Rush delivery and logged in each day to "track" my package. The tracking info on the website is superficial and inaccurate. It is not linked to where your actual project is in the printing and shipping process. When I wanted more detailed info on tracking I contacted Shutterfly via email. I waited two days and got no reponse to my email. I sent a SECOND email, waited two days and no response. I sent a THIRD email yesterday and received no reponse. Today I slogged my way through their terrible call center and finally talked to a real person who told me that the "tracking" info on the site is ficticious and not to be relied on, even though it says "guaranteed delivery by xxxxx".

All I needed was simple confirmation on the tracking info for my order and sent three emails over 6 days asking for confirmation and tracking info from the FED EX or other shipping company. SHUTTERFLY DIDN'T RESPOND TO MY THREE EMAILS SENT OVER 6 DAYS.

Try it yourself now. *******159. Call the customer service number now and try to talk to "Sara" their automated computer who can "understands full sentences" *******159. I went around and around with "Sara" misunderstanding my request for simple tracking info. I had to repeat my email address four times. To talk to a real person was a 48 minutes wait. Seriously.

Shutterfly is on a downward spiral. Their stock is dropping. This company is cutting corners where they can to survive. Don't trust them. Don't use them. They likely won't be in business much longer providing this kind of terrible service.

I am always impressed with Shutterfly's consistently fast service. Recently I ordered something and was not able to get the tracking to work from the postal service. I was concerned that the product was not going to arrive in time and contacted Shutterfly. They could not get information from the postal service and so they just sent a duplicate order out right away just in case the first order was lost.

Quality was very good site was easy to use. I am simply bitter about the shipping. My grandfather was very ill and I was going to visit him on the Saturday and was hoping to bring him a Christmas card that I ordered from Shutterfly (delivery was suppose to have arrived the Thursday/2 days before). It didn't. He ended up passing away the Sunday/following day. My cards arrived the Monday. Late deliveries irritate me, obviously even more in this case BUT the site is easy to use, they often have promotions going on, and the quality is great. I still give it 4/5 stars

I love this website!
December 27, 2014

I love this website! I had hundreds of pictures on my phone, my mom's phone, and a camera from a vacation that I wanted to print. I decided to give them a try, and it was great! The price per picture is very cheap, and they gave me 100 free prints. They also send out emails frequently with free offers. I've ordered a free customized calendar with vacation pictures, and a free customized magnet as well. They usually have free shipping over a certain price, but if you don't order much and don't want to pay shipping, you can pick up your prints at any CVS for free. AMAZING!

I am absolutely furious and disappointed in Shutterfly! After soooooooooo many years of giving them business the moment they mess up and I call to complain they can not do anything good enough to make me the customer happy. I ordered on 12/1/14 a photobook, prints, and a photo fleece blanket. I received everything within the appropriate time except the photo fleece blanket. Today 12/22/14 (2 days before Xmas Eve) I call to see what is the problem. Their response (Eric from Shutterfly) that Fedex tried to delivery the item a few times but for whatever reason they could not and it was shipped back to the Phoenix store. Keep in mind I ordered 3 items and 2 of the items were delivered without a problem. 1st why didn't they notify me of this 2nd what were you thinking of doing to fix this problem. 3rd were they just waiting for me the customer to call. They said the best they can do is reprocess it and it was not guaranteed to be delivered by xmas or refund me. Really that's the best you can do? Both choices I'm done wrong. 1st chose my significant other will get their xmas gift late after xmas or 2nd chose I have to rush now to the stores where there is massive chaos because it's 2 days before xmas eve to find a gift. What needed to be done is reprocess the order send it to me at no charge for the stress and embarrassment I had to go through with the order and possibly not having a gift on time for my significant other. Even when I spoke to Nate who stated he was a supervisor he informed me that they were still trying to locate the package in Phoenix cause even though it stated it was brought back to that location they could not find it. Really? How is that my fault? Tell me something you can do to make me happy or make it better. ON top of that he wanted to give me a call back with the location of the package and if it can redelivered or reprocessed. No it is Monday, 12/22 3:45pm 2 days before xmas eve I need an answer NOW... so I can know if I need to go shopping in the chaos of the mall. At the end I informed him I couldn't wait... I've waited enough and they will just refund me back. My incident # **************.

I've spent ALL DAY trying to get my order placed by 7 p.m. e. t. To get Shutterfly's promised delivery by December 24th (for an additional $20 rush fee). It has been a nightmare trying to get the order placed and it required four phone calls to customer service to do it. I DID get the order placed, FINALLY, by 7 p.m. e. t., received my order confirmation email and # from Shutterfly, and breathed a sigh of relief.

BUT THEN, an hour and a half later, I receive an email from Shutterfly saying that my order has NOT been placed due to a card failure. Knowing very well that I have the funds in my debit card account to cover the purchase, I place ANOTHER call to customer service only to find out that the order was submitted with a (different) credit card expiration date from LAST YEAR. Why did Shutterfly hang on to my credit card information for an entire year? Had they not done so, they would not have screwed up my order. So, I talk to the credit card department at Shutterfly and she said she would re-submit my order using the CORRECT debit card information. I told her I wanted to ensure that I would still receive my order by December 24th, or I do not want to submit it, as I do not want to pay the additional $20 rush fee if I am not going to receive it by Christmas. The customer service rep put me on hold, came back and said that everything was taken care of as she had re-submitted the order for me using the correct info, but unfortunately my order will not be delivered until December 29th. I asked the rep why in the world she would have submitted the order again when I had asked her not to do so unless it would still be delivered on the 24th! She then offered to cancel the latest transaction.

Oh my goodness, I am SO STRESSED OUT by this experience. I've invested an entire day with Shutterfly, yet I still have NO gift by the 24th, and heaven knows how many charges I actually will have on my debit/credit cards by this company. This company is awful! I usually use them every year for Christmas cards and my gift calendars, but NO MORE! The last few years I have been disappointed in the quality of my cards, but this experience is the final blow.

Worst company ever
December 12, 2014

Worst company ever

They screwed up our Christmas cards this year. They sent our cards in a shutterfly marketing packet, as if my cards were a sample in a marketing materials packet. Most of our friends didn't even know we had a card buried in their ad packet and threw the ad in the garbage. For those who actually opened and found our card, we were incredibly embarrassed that our friends and family received our card that way buried among marketing material.

After spending 1.5 hours on phone with customer service, they would not agree to redo the order the right way for free--with a card, in an envelope...

We are leaving this horrible service. Been with them for years. I hope they enjoy losing loyal customers like us. Run away!

Wished I read these reviews before I became a victim too :(. Ordered portrait from shutterfly. They got the wrong shipping address. I thought no big deal. Called them next day. Was placed on hold for one hr talking to different representatives. They claimed they finally was able to change the address but don't be alarm if the emails I get say differently. Next I get email stating the tracking has begun as the product has been shipped. Email says its shipping to wrong address. Email customer service since I don't want to wait for another hr on the phone. Next day customer service email reply not to worry again. Then 2 days later, fed ex updated their tracking so I was able to finally track the product. It was shipping to the wrong address and would be delivered the next day! Called shutterfly, placed on hold for another hr. They didn't know why it was still sent to the wrong address. They say they will have to make a new print. Then, I asked them what will happen to the one that will be sent to the wrong address. Will someone else have my personal photo?!? They did not have a good answer. They then called back a few hrs later saying they can re route the original photo. Talked w hubby... really do we want a portrait int the house that will remind us of this horrible experience? Told them to either give it to us for free to compensate everything that we had to go through or just cancel it. They refuse to compensate us the cost even though everything was their fault. They offered $20 off next purchase. Why would I ever purchase from them again?!? Told them to take a hike, refund my purchase, cancel the order, and look out for bad reviews. Hence this review will keep on going until the company files Chapter 11. Companies with such bad customer service should not be allow to continue profiting from innocent honest hardworking customers. Please let me know where else I can post this to warn people from ever ordering from shutterfly.

I received a $10 off offer from Shutterfly as a new customer. I applied the code & $10 was deducted from my total. Two days later, my order got shipped & my bill is actually $10 more than when I checked out. I contacted their CS. The rep. Asked me to click on the e-mail that gave me the code, then asked me to click on the fine print at the bottom of the e-mail & then asked me to click on a link at the end of the fine print. After three clicks, she told me that according to the term I was not qualified for the promotion & the code I input had been removed -- that means they charged me the amount that I did NOT authorize! Shutterfly sent me the code to use, then removed it AFTER I made my payment! I was totally trapped & can't believe that this business would use such dirty trick to make money. I closed my account right away. Stay away! Their offers are full of traps -- make sure you read their fine lines of fine lines of fine lines if you REALLY want to use their service.

I'm a former Shutterfly lover. I've made cards, luggage tags, mailing labels but mostly books. This review is not to comment on the quality of the product which I find to be good. This is about customer service. Recently we vacationed with my sister and her husband. During that time we picked up some coupons for free 8x8 photo books. I made a book and used the coupon I received. My sister made a book that went way over the 20 pages that the coupon covered so I offered to let her use my credit card to pay for the rest of her book. When she went to order her book the coupon was denied. She called Shutterfly and they told her that because my credit card was used to pay for a book using a similar coupon hers would not be honored. Does that make sense to anyone? I understand Shutterfly not wanting people to take advantage of a one time only offer but that wasn't the case. She tried to explain that to the Shutterfly representative but was told that once the coupon was denied there was no way to reinstate it. She was offered 50% off her book, a special they had running at the time. I've had other problems with Shutterfly in the past, mostly server problems that caused me to lose days of work. This was just the last straw. I will no longer use Shutterfly for anything ever again.

Order some photobooks for my wedding. Overall I the online software to make the books is pretty good, although it doesn't allow me to do everything editing-wise I would have wanted (I am used to working on Microsoft Publisher). For instance, I couldn't remove a sticker that was put on one of the pages - really annoying. If you wait long enough for the right promotion, you can get a good deal (I got 40% off and free shipping). The printing quality was okay. Customer service - great! One of the books did not arrived and they shipped a new one for free.
