Stop putting people in for the US Customer Service position when they can barely speak English as it is. It's so hard trying to get your service back up and running when the person helping you can't even understand you and you can't understand them. All of the staff also need to be trained in knowing how to actually help the customer instead of seemingly reading off of an FAQ page, repeating the same sentences over and over then directing you to another department when they "don't think their department is qualified for this issue." Nobody should have to sit on the line being switched back and forth for TWO HOURS (yes, we were being switched around for two hours to each and every department about an issue that could easily be resolved with a tech being sent over) and still not get their problem fixed. Our internet and landline have been down for over a week now, and we've called customer support just about everyday restating the same issue just to get the same robotic responses. Sorriest company I've ever been in contact with.

DO NOT USE
April 7, 2022

Terrible customer service. Slow internet and very inconsistent. Thumbs down for them. No starts if possible they monopolized the areas you have no choice, but to use them probably why they do not care about the customers.

We live in a rural area. We pay for DSL service for 24 hours, not for 2 hours at time! CenturyLink is known for throttling back service during peak hours. Husband is a 100% disabled combat Veteran. We must have internet service for video chats with medical doctors. In the middle of a chat, service is disconnected from CenturyLink (message: "You are no longer connected to the internet"). We call CenturyLink, and the stupid AI robot tells us they are doing a test, there are NO problems detected with our the line. Oh really, then explain why we do not have service? What are we paying for?

When I called in, each CSR was from the Phillipines, I could hear the roosters in the background! I asked the last tech to close the door, or take his rooster outside so I can hear him. He then tests the line, we already did all the things he tells us. Then he "remotely" fixes our line, and, magically, we have internet service again! The tech blames the modem, a brand new modem purchased through CenturyLink. Then he tells us we are "out of warranty" as we have had service 1.5 years, and warranty is only for up to a year. We must pay for a new one. Then he "accidentally" terminates the call, but does not call me back as promised if we are disconnected.

I hope President Joe Biden gives us rural customers more options, other than the CenturyLink monopoly. The "technicians" are guessing what is wrong, demanding we buy their new modem when it is really just lousy DSL service. I asked CenturyLink to send a service technician to make the determination that our modem is indeed defective, send him to our rural home. I was told IF the service tech determines there is no problem with our outside line OR the modem, then we have to pay for the visit. Why is the cost of tech visit the same price as a replacement modem?

I had AT&T for 10 years prior to moving to this rural area. Never had a problem with them, when there was ANY service issue, they were at our home within 2 days with a ticket number for followup. Not CenturyLink. And our only option is Century Un-Link. All our U.S. jobs for CenturyLink, technicians and CSRs, are located in the Phillipines. Every one comes with their very own rooster to annoy the customer so they don't have to listen to your complaint. "Try using Chat" they tell us: that is their solution to the rooster and bad customer service.

Come on, CenturyLink. You can do better. Denying service to a 100% disabled combat Veteran is Un-American! But since most of your staff are in the Phillipines, "American" is not a problem you have to be concerned with, troubleshooting accurately from the Phillipines is.

I have had centurylink for over a year now and just canceled. We were receiving stone age speeds at FULL price. Our DL speed was riding at about 10mbps and our upload at. 5mbps, that's right, not even one mbps! We were constantly talking to reps and being transferred around or completely hung up on or dropped by the terrible international customer service they employ. Finally we had enough and canceled and behold another bill after disconnect appeared. They claim they bill in advance, but when you ask them what that means to them they will describe that they actually bill in arrears, and will continue to bill you after you disconnect. An absolute trash company, ripoff, poor service, poor customer service, and corrupt billing. Would never recommend.

I asked centurylink to move my landline phone to another location, but do NOT turn off the internet at the current location. They did move the landline, but turned off the internet. They said it would take 6 days to correct their mistake. I asked for a NEW landline number at the current address. I was told centurylink did not know how to do that. My 92 year old Mom moved to a extended care facility 3 blocks away and she wanted to keep her old phone number. I cancelled centurylink and went with a Xfinity.

I have had Century link at my residence for 40+ years. Service is OK, repairs can be problematic. I give them credit for having some dedicated employes and technicians If they offer a price reduction, Get it in writing. Their reduction always costs more $. Setting fiber optic at home there was to be a $99 install charge, even though their advertisement stated Free Install. They droped the fee. Upon attempting to set up Fiber optic at my business where service had been for 30 years I was without internet for 3 months. I have a new carrier at my business for about $100 + less. In dealing with them Get it in writing! I do not like to complain.

I have used century link for about 7 years and recently my internet went out. I have been without internet for 16 days. I've been told I would have a tech and had to take off an entire 2 days of work to have nobody show up and no explanation. Been hung up on, and told someone would call me back 5 times. I've given them every opportunity to make things right, but to no avail. It doesn't matter how loyal you've been. There customer service sucks! Everything is scripted so you really don't get an honest response anyway. Go anywhere else for service but century link!#

Dumpster Fire Service
January 22, 2022

I have had to deal with this dumpster fire of a company as its all that is available to me currently. I am located in northwest florida and the only thing offered is 10mbs which is slower than the hotspot my cell phone is able to provide. Constant outages, loss of signal, and interrupted service. My service went out completely beginning of january 2022. They sent a tech out and checked everything and assured me things were good. Well they were not good. After 4 days of phone calls being on hold and having to repeat myself numerous times I get a tech to come back out who cant find anything wrong. Call back again and i spend another 2 hours doing troubleshooting and being told the router is the problem. CL sends another tech the following day and they say its cause they shut my service off! So what was the point of performing troubleshooting steps?! I call and try to cancel and they offer 20 mbs as opposed to the 10. I agree and they say on 19 january someone would come set it up. Well the day came and no one showed up because they were held up at a job and had to reschedule for 22 jan 2022. LOW AND BEHOLD OT EXHAUSTED and no one would show up. While chatting online with them and being transferrer to someone else 5 times and to the same person twice who are all equally worthless nothing has been done. In my opinion do not use this company. After reading CL has been subject to numerous lawsuits and fraud charges. Do yourself a favor and use a cell phone provider if at all possible.

I can't believe they are in business. I get very intermediate internet, very slow speeds and terriable customer service. Seems to be a common thread through out the posts on this site. They are as bad if not worse than Etrade. While you are on endless hold they keep saying they are providing the fastest and most reliable internet service. Maybe in theiir minds, in reality not so. I wes paying for "High speed internet" 60 mbs and maybe getting 20 mbs on a good day. I have to give it to them, they have great excuses why they takke our money and don't provide what you are paying for. They have sent me 2 modems, increased the cost from $10 to $15 per month, sent a usless tech out to my house and I am in the same boat I have been in for over 60 days, Have written to the Customer Success and Advocacy Vice President and still nothing. If the Customer Success and Advocacy Vice President really exists she should be fired. This is a joke their stock should be zero and the CEO makes almost $17 million... I don't believe that I have internet long enough to make this post. STAY AWAY save yourself some aggravation go anywhere else.
UPDATE
These folks are a joke. Went to the "Customer Service Manager" and they scheduled a repair tech for 6 weeks out. Are they crazy. Living without dependable internet isn't an option. WENT TO T MOBILE OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE $50 a month for blazing fast internet. If you can get T Mobile where youlive SWITCH you'll never look back... Great customer service I might add.

I used to be their customer and since their service was painfully slow, I had to switch to a new provider. My policy was cancelling at anytime. I contacted them a month and half ahead and canceled the service and their agent made me sure that I am not going to get any extra bill. Long story short, I ended up in a $50 extra bill and negative score on my credit history by a debt collector. Horrible experience. Even a small business never treated me like that. Horrible people.

Just don't do it
September 28, 2021

Worst experience ever tying to just start service. Went to the main link to purchase/schedule an install (easy), tech comes in and tells me they don't do apartments (huh?), he they writes his update/feedback and talks with a rep to say they will get it fixed and send the correct tech tomorrow (I have a century link modem/router already in the apartment that is fixed from the apartment). I then call customer support the next morning to confirm if I can activate the current modem/router and was informed I should wait for the tech to come in today. 1 hour later, I get an email that says my account was cancelled. Called into customer support and was told I didn't go through the correct portal (where was any of this told to me in the last 3 interactions), then told it would be more expensive, doesn't qualify for the promo as an apartment, and then also told that there is nothing more that can be done to help remedy my experience. So went with Wave G, I was at least helped and got it taken care of in 10min and I'm not required to pay $15 /mont for their "better" modem/router. We all know thats a lie. All in all go with someone else if you think you will need any real customer service help, as they just do not train well and just don't care if they have you as a customer or not.

I will tell you that we have had them since they bought Quest. Overall, the internet has been fine, but suddenly, it started going in and out; affecting our Netflix and then the land line went out. The customer service is the WORST! My husband and I waited for 2 hours on hold on my cell phone since we had no land line. Finally spoke to someone that you cannot understand... then were told they "ran diagnostics" and it is our land line problem, which by the way, we are paying nearly 40.00 per month for surcharges, etc. We both have cell phones and are thinking to get rid of the land line. Now, we have had mostly no internet, no land line, I just spent another 45 minutes for on line chat and they just disconnected me. They are to be out 2 days from now to "repair" a land line that we don't even want anymore. My husband has fixed the brand new Century Link Modem which is why I am able to post this review. What is UP WITH CENTURY LINK?

ZERO stars Z E R O
August 31, 2021

ZERO stars. Z E R O stars I am forced to leave one else I cannot leave a review. Fraudently billing, abusive customer service, and unethical business practices. I have contacted Centurylink 28 times since June 20th 2021. I have supposedly spoken with managers, the escalation team, their legal department, supervisors, consumer advocacy, and the president of the customer service department. NOT one issue has been resolved! There are 7 states that have sued Centurylink for unethical business practices, fraudulently billing.
Apparently, it takes the Attorney General in every state and a lawsuit to make Centurylink "Do the right thing, bill their customers correctly" Nothing in the Universe can or will make Centurylink provide acceptable competent knowledgable customer service.
ZERO ZERO ZERO stars. When you see their rating minus one star from their total rating since everyone is forced to leave at least one star, their rating is off so minus one star gives Centurylink a. 34 rating, not a 1.34-star rating.

I really should have audio and videotaped my experience with them but my phone doesn't deserve that clutter. This companies robot who answers Welcome to Centurylink is Deaf, DUMB, and obviously blind. It never hears correctly, nor has appriaye responses. I tried to pay my bill for 4chours one night. But when you need them to send you a router and lie for 3 days about it, it gets really absurd. First person "Allset your router will be there tomorrow" The second person the next day when it didn't come"I'm sorry, the tracking details have not been created yet, you will get it tomorrow" The 3rd person on the 3rd day "I'm sorry your router will be there tomorrow" at which a fake tracking number was given and the router never came. That's only 1 experience, the internet constantly has to buffer, and kicks you off every 5 minutes. The monopoly of them in my area is disgusting. The router I had, that I lease broke and I need the router... now the website your directed to doesn't work, and since I've had Centurylink.not one time have I been able to login. Not once, it doesn't recognize your account number, nor your email to reset. So you cannot easily pay, at all. So the 4th time I called back, the recording kept me on hold for an hour and hung up. No UPS by end of day ever came and of course I can't track it because it was a bogus tracking number. Save yourself... pay more elsewhere for better internet service, and better customer service. I can't believe that goods and services are not received for your money spent. Isn't that illegal... how can they be in business. If everyone together just drop them at the same time, maybe someone better will set up and do a much better job. If it wasn't happening to me, I'd be laughing at how bad it is, its movie type of comedic material. But it isn't funny, because yiur money is taken and tgey give you NOTHING for your money...

CenturyLink has the worst customer service of any company that I've ever dealt with. The customer service reps are poorly trained and speak very little to no English and have trouble understanding questions. For a telecom company I'm astonished about how bad their customer service is, they're useless. I'm trying to get a new line run to my new house for home phone landline service and I've been on the phone with them 3 times and transferred to countless reps and none of them could understand and solve my issue. Then I found the link on their website to contact upper management and I contacted them and all they said was that they'd escalate the case to the supervisor and I never got a response back, then I contacted them again 2 more times inquiring about a follow up and I never got a response back. I implore you not to do any business with CenturyLink, their customer service is absurd.

We have been CenturyLinkcustomers for over 3 years. We had to fix(upgrade) our modem once since our internet was very slow. We bought the modem from Century link, now we are experiencing no wi-fi at all or extremely low speed (8Mbps instead of 100Mbps promised). We called the customer service. They checked out modem number at it appears that it doesn't support Fiber connections, which suppose to provide fast speed. Technician just said:"That's weird". Wow! Exactly what I want to hear from you! They told us our modem has to be changed. One of their agents actually came up with a proposal and little credit for us in order to keep us as their customer but next day when I was going to schedule the appointment for installation they told me it was missunderstanding with previous agent and they can not provide me the plan he described! What?! New plane they can provide us is twice more expensive. No thank you! We are cancelling our membership!

Worst service
May 13, 2020

Worst customer service I have ever experience! They make promises they do not keep to get you sign up. Typical bait and switch! Spent at least 50hrs helping them set up system VOIP PHONES and they still gave me the shaft on refunding my old system T1 internet and phone that took them 4 months to disconnect and not in use for 10 months@ $360 a month, to much stress with this company! Good luck getting any help from this big company! All we are is a number to them, do not expect anything less!
