TeamViewer Reviews Summary

TeamViewer's reputation is significantly marred by widespread dissatisfaction regarding its customer service and cancellation policies. Customers frequently express frustration over unexpected charges, strict cancellation requirements, and inadequate support, often experiencing long wait times and unresponsive communication. While some users appreciate the software's functionality, many believe it does not justify the high cost, citing better alternatives in the market. Overall, the feedback indicates a trend of customers feeling trapped by the company's practices, leading to a negative perception of its reliability and commitment to customer satisfaction.

I work for a company that has been a loyal TeamViewer customer for nearly a decade, always paying renewals on time. In August 2025, we received an official quotation for R$ 21,231.87 (€3,830), valid until August 9th. Unfortunately, due to a simple administrative oversight on my part, the payment wasn't processed before the expiration date. When I tried to complete it a few weeks later, the amount had increased to R$ 22,531.90 (€4,060). I explained the situation transparently and asked only for a gesture of understanding, not a refund or a discount, just empathy. The official response was: "We can't do anything." A sales representative even called me later just to repeat the same message. Although the license belongs to my company, internal policy means I have to pay this €230 difference from my own salary. For a global company with over €190 million in annual revenue, this is a small amount, but for me, it's a personal impact. This isn't about money; it's about humanity, respect, and partnership. I hope TeamViewer reconsiders how it treats long-term clients who make a single human mistake.

Stay away from their subscriptions, Teamviewer will make you pay for a year even though you cancelled the service and don't use it anymore.

We cancelled 27 days before the subscription expired with mitigating circumstances explained to them, they refused the cancellation and made us aware that cancellation is only allowed 30 days before expiry date.

They insist on payment for another 12 months although we don't use their service anymore.

It is hard to understand why we have to pay for something we don't use.

I would recommend many other services such as Anydesk or even free remote services that doesn't lock you in with scare tactics and make you pay for something you do not use or need.

Customer support is also pathetic, their sales team also just want to sell and not listen to customers requests.

I called for support. Team Viewer committed fraud. These people should be prosecuted and incarceated.
Thet signed me up for a $ 55 a month charge on some other service. I plan to complain to the New York Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission to shut these people down. Beware. They are dangerous crooks!

I needed to cancel my account, figuring I had about a month before renewal, as I hadn't gotten the standard notices yet. I have just become disabled and am unable to work (self-employed), and therefore unable to use the software. Got charged for another year just the other day. Explained my situation, they would not budge. I changed my email in my TV account as that is the only thing I've used for years. Apparently I needed to change it in the customer portal as well (unbeknownst to me), as that is the email they use to send out reminders. Therefore I never got any. They don't care. The $650 is more important to them than a disabled person I guess. It's all black and white to them, no grey.

So now I'm stuck with a bill I will struggle to pay since I am ordered by my doctor to stop working.

Anyone looking for a simple free replacement should check out dwservice.

Very disgusted with this company and will never ever recommend them again.

Never liked the software. Clients found it hard to use and glitches.
The worst thing is cancelling. We only had 20 nodes left and I tried to cancel 2 times and thought it took and when I didn't get any confirmation, I emailed them. 10 days later I got a reason how sorry they were they couldn't cancel my subscription that expired now in12 days but hers a few bucks off. I was livid, so I am disputing the charge with my credit card company. Don't fall for the annual auto renew scam. Run away. I love Dualmon and ConnectWise.

Buyer Beware!
January 5, 2024

Be advised company has a 28 day cancellation policy they strictly enforce! They state they mail you reminders but I didn't receive either of the two they stated then sent. Oddly (LOL), I did receive confirmation that my credit card was charged after I attempted to cancel the subscription prior to renewal. I was advised they will pursue collection actions if I dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Cancellation Scam
November 27, 2023

Very bad experience. I paid around $700 for nothing because TeamViewer refused to refund me even it was before the new services started. I wasn't allowed to cancel another year's subscription. TeamViewer is so bad. It is contrary to Australia's consumer's protection policy.

I just found out the hard way that if you no longer wish to renew your license, after the one year has expired, you have to notify them 28 days in advance.
They never wrote anything to let me know that the year was about to expire, I was only presented with an invoice for me to pay.
Upon refusal of payment, I started receiving threatening emails from Credit Reform, their Debt Collector company, that I am forced to pay, otherwise legal actions will be pursued against me.
I have not ever dealt with any other business, with such practices, beware and stay away from this company!
Let us also not forget how they used to sell perpetual, lifetime licenses to people, only to then start asking them for paying a subscription fee.
A shady company from every perspective!
The good thing is that there are many alternatives out there!
An expensive lesson learned, always make your due diligence and read up on a company practices, before you engage in making a contract with them.
Posts regarding TeamViewer's practices are all over the internet since 2016, and they do what they do, because "they can", disregarding any customer satisfaction.

Terrible customer support
September 20, 2023

Teamviewer has the worst customer support I have ever encountered. We were on a 14 day free trial and they charged our account for a full year subscription. We have been trying to cancel the subscription and they are ignoring our support ticket by sending us responses saying they have a backlog of support tickets.
I have called their 800 number 3 days in a row and they disconnect with us everytime. From what I can see on complaints on the BBB this is a recurring issue. Teamviewer makes it almost impossible to cancel their subscription and they don't give refunds. Do no sign up with them. Its a slippery slope.

Expensive for what you get and beware of "small print" cancellation policies. Seriously, get with you with a 28 day notice to cancel? Better and less shady options out there so recommend staying away from this company.

I have used teamviewer for years and the functionality of the software is great for helping friends and family. Now, I can't anymore because Teamviewer believes I am using it for commercial use and wants me to pay hundreds per MONTH! If this were maybe 5-10 per month I would consider it, but this is outrageous to help my mother log into Facebook every once in a while.

It is very difficult to work, i had a call with the client and it was very difficult for me to explain the new interface to the customer. Addiosionally when i was given the id from the customer the Teamviewer demanded log in, thus an already frustraded customer had to wait for me to log in. Finally i asked him to switch to anydesk which did the job in the end.

Avoid this waste of money
August 25, 2023

I got this for my business to be able to be remote. At first it was decent, however it went up in price and down in quality. The cost over $650 a year, no weekend support, when you do call for support you are in queue for over an hour and most of the time you will be disconnected when you get close to first or second in queue. When you do try to cancel you will get the run around just enough of a run around that you will miss the 28 day cancellation. I 100% would NOT recommend this company. Customer service is horrible and so is the quality of the service itself.

Cancellation scam
August 9, 2023

A TeamViewer subscriber for 4 years. Cancelled two weeks before renewal date and was told I'd have to pay for another YEAR. This is not a cheap product. The initial email from 2019 says 28 days notice required to cancel renewal. Never been mentioned since. NO renewal notice, no invoice, nothing. I specifically forbade them to charge my credit card but they went ahead and charged it anyway. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company and expect to succeed but they say the will send it to debt collection. Horrible business practice.

TeamViewer: Falsely Accused of Commercial Use

I have been using TeamViewer for personal use for several years. I have always been satisfied with the service, until recently. I was recently notified by TeamViewer that my account had been limited because they suspected that I was using it for commercial use.

I contacted TeamViewer customer support several times to try to resolve the issue, but I was unable to get in touch with anyone. I am disappointed that TeamViewer has limited my account without providing any clear explanation or a way to appeal the decision.

I am also concerned about the fact that TeamViewer has been unable to provide me with any clear guidance on what constitutes commercial use. This makes it difficult for users to know if they are using the service in compliance with the terms of service.

I would not recommend TeamViewer for personal use. The company has unclear policies and procedures for personal use, and they do not provide a clear way for users to appeal decisions about personal use. If you are looking for a reliable remote access solution for personal use, I would recommend using a different product.

Do not purchase a team viewer license ever. They apply unethical and boarder line illegal practices in their contracts. I tried to cancel my subscription recently after being auto charged $550 for a year subscription. I started the process of cancelling days after they charged my card. I spent hours online, on their website chat support, and on my account trying to find a way to cancel and request a refund for the year of service I was unknowing charged for (they don't give any warning an auto charge is coming). After 4 weeks of getting the run around from customer service they final said okay we will cancel your subscription for next year (11 months from now) but we will not give you a refund period. Not even a proration refund on the year! They expect to keep the $550 for the entire year of service even though I am not and have not used the product for months! I am fighting this charge with my bank now but this is completely unethical and boarder line illegal in my opinion. Besides all of this the reason I am dropping the service is it rarely works. I have old computers in another state I want to log into and every couple of months they push some update that causes me to not be able to access the older computers without driving over or hiring someone to go there and manually update then. Defeats the whole damn purpose of having remote access if I constantly have to go there and manually update the computers! 1 star only because 0 stars not an option.

My reliance on modern technology has always felt empowering until the day I found myself stranded across the globe, victim to an unforgiving 2FA system that locked me out of my lifeline, courtesy of Teamviewer remote control tool.

Teamviewer prides itself on its robust security, and in many ways, it delivers. Its two-factor authentication (2FA) system adds an extra layer of protection to keep unauthorized users at bay. Unfortunately, I've discovered firsthand that their emphasis on security comes at the cost of compassion and common sense when it comes to customer service.

Upon losing my phone, I quickly realized I had also lost access to my 2FA app. My error, of course, was not keeping a recovery code – a mistake I won't repeat. I reached out to Teamviewer for help, fully expecting them to have some form of alternate authentication. After all, isn't that the norm in the 21st century?

Sadly, the answer was a resounding no,apart for their suggestion of using a recovery code which I did not have. Despite having recovery mechanisms in place such as disabling 2FA from their end, Teamviewer refused to entertain any other authentication method. Instead, they kept me locked out of my account.

Stuck in a foreign country, I found myself unable to access my main computer remotely, effectively crippling my ability to manage my finances and execute urgent payments. This restriction caused severe disruption to my client work as my local machine was the only place where my work data resided. The result? Disappointed clients and lost business opportunities.

In my desperation, I was forced to cut my travels short and embark on a *******-mile journey home just to regain control of my digital life.

Throughout this ordeal, I reached out to Teamviewer multiple times, only to receive robotic, templated responses. I even offered to provide additional verification like my passport photo selfie - a sign that I am who I say I am. But these were not deemed sufficient.
My ordeal with Teamviewer was a wake-up call, a brutal lesson about the pitfalls of 2FA and the perils of placing complete trust in Teamviewer customer service. As I was stranded and helpless, Teamviewer remained steadfast in their robotic and rigid adherence to policy, indifferent to the hardships I was facing.

My experience was a rude awakening to the reality that security protocols can sometimes become chains rather than shields, trapping genuine users out in the cold. I sincerely hope my ordeal serves as a wake-up call for Teamviewer and other companies who adopt similar stringent policies.

In conclusion, potential users must know this: with Teamviewer, you may find yourself not just locked out of your account, but locked out of your life, stranded in a predicament from which the company seems unwilling to release you. This is not just a remote control tool, but a tool that can remotely control your fate, as it did mine.

The software does not function properly and when you try to cancel they put you on hold forever. You can never get throgh to who they call your account manager. I requested several times to cancel my service and thought I got though to the person and stop using the service. Then months later I get an invoice demanding money for another year. Tried to tell them I canceled then the person I was speaking with gave me the "let me transfer you to your account manager". This would put me on forever hold and no one wouuld answer. Now more than a year later they send me a collection bill for a service I canceled and never used for that year. Even a one star is to high this should be a no star!

They are horrible
May 18, 2023

No matter how many times I've tried, they keep blocking me because THEY believe I am doing remote support as a business. They are wrong and they are horrible people. They won't listen. I moved to FL and have been trying to help my mother in law, brother, and a few friends with helpful support.

These horrible people don't want to listen. Yet show NO PROOF EVER of me using this software for profit.
